Wotofo Profile M RTA Review

Wotofo Profile M RTA Review

Wotofo. Yep you’ve heard of them, they’ve had a pretty good history of producing some quality products, not only pioneering the nexMesh coil technology, but they’re also well known for their excellent mesh RDA’s and RTA’s.

Today’s review is of just that, another one of Wotofo’s Mesh RTA’s. This time though, they’ve produced a sexy little tank that is not only leak proof, but pumps out some brilliant flavour!

Let’s check out Wotofo’s Profile M RTA!

Big thanks goes to Wotofo, who sent this out for the purposes of review!

General Info

The new Profile M RTA is another of Wotofo’s mesh driven RTA’s. With a diameter of just under 25mm and a tiny 27mm tall, the Profile M is a short stubby tank that not only looks great, but is quite well built too!

This stainless steel/pyrex tank is well machined, with fitment of parts being just about perfect, and a really nice feel to the threading when taking it apart. Orings are solid, and smooth, with all movables able to move, and the bits that are supposed to stay firm, stay put without any play.

The Profile M is a top slide to fill, top airflow, rebuild-able RTA with a short 810 drip tip, pyrex glass tank, dual post mesh deck and plated 510 connection with a 3.1ml e-liquid capacity.

In the box, you’ll also receive a second tank section, made of German PEEK, which will increase your e-liquid capacity to and even 4ml capacity, with a matching drip tip to keep things looking uniform.

Wotofo also include 3 different types of mesh as well as some thick cotton, and rebuilding tools, such as small Phillips head screwdriver and Mesh bending tool.

The Deck & the Rest

If you’ve seen the deck of one of Wotofo’s previous mesh RTA’s or RDA’s, you’ll recognise the deck for the Profile M. It’s virtually identical to the Profile 1.5 RDA, with it’s two large clasps and spring loaded bed to allow the cotton to slide on through underneath the inserted mesh sheet.

On each side are kidney shaped wicking ports to get juice up to the mesh, making this thing an absolute breeze to build on.

The clamps used to clamp down the mesh are solid, with some nice phillips or cross top screws on either side. The groove on these is cut pretty deep, so you’ll be able to get a pretty good grip on them, which is always a good thing.

In the middle of the clamps is your ceramic wicking bed, that is spring loaded allowing your cotton to meet up with the mesh with a nice bit of pressure to ensure uniform vaporisation. You can adjust the height of this if you’re looking at using more or less cotton than the default setting using the screw in the middle.

The tank section of the RTA, contains a concave insert that sits over the deck, producing some lovely flavour due to it’s domed top, with the airflow coming in via two cyclops style adjustable air vents at the top that reach down into that domed top inside the tank.

Airflow

The way the airflows into the Profile M is quite unique. Rather than have the airflow come in at the top, down through the chimney and then back up and under the coil, as many other top airflow tanks do, the Profile M does things a little differently.

Through your airflow ports at the top of the device, air comes into a chamber inside the tank, above the deck. The air then enters the deck via the concave, domed deck insert which has airflow holes machined into it that are set at the perfect angle to bounce the airflow directly off of the top of your mesh and then travel back up through the centre to the mouth piece. Definitely an interesting way of doing things, but it works, and produces excellent flavour, while making sure you don’t get stuck with e-liquid leakage from over-wicked cotton by using a top airflow.

The airflow adjustment via the top adjustment ring is quite smooth, it has a nice bit of resistance, but not too much, and is easily adjusted without doing it by accident. There is a stopper on each side also, so you’ll know where the lowest and highest setting is just by feel, something I think every airflow adjustment should have.

If I were to describe the airflow, I’d put it as adjustable between a tight MTL draw and an almost completely open draw. It’s restricted a little, but not so much that someone who prefers Direct to lung would find it too tight.

Filling

Filling the Profile M RTA is simple. Slide the top cap to one side to reveal the silicone fill port, push your nozzle into it and start filling. You’ll want to make sure your device is sitting on a table whilst doing this so that the valve at the back allows the excess air out, so that you can get a decent fill.

The fill cap might be a bit of a contentious issue among vapers, I know a few will likely not be happy with the slide and fill mechanism, but that’s really personal preference. I don’t mind them as long as they don’t slide open in my pocket. This one doesn’t.

Two things that I found a little wanting here though, was that it’s quite difficult to fill the tank 100%, without a little eliquid coming out of the back side of the fill cap. As air escapes from the valve under the cap, e-liquid will also so you can be filling and filling, trying to get as much in there as possible without realising that you’re actually dribbling eliquid out the back of the tank while filling. Room for improvement here.

The other problem I’ve had was when removing my eliquid nozzle, sometimes (a lot of the time) the silicone surrounds pull away with it, leaving me having to push it back into place with my finger. This could easily be a big issue if someone tries to slide that top cap back and trap the silicone surrounds under it, ruining the silicone. Another is included in the box, but a better fitting silicone piece eliminate the issue all-together.

Building

This is also very easy. You’d build on the Profile M RTA just as you would any other mesh style atomizer. Curl your mesh using the provided tool. Insert it into the clamps on either side, tighten up the screws and your done with the coil.

Wicking is simple too. Using the shoelace wick that Wotofo supply feed the cotton under the mesh, while pushing down on the cotton a little and gently guide it through. Snip off any excess wicking material, and prime your wick. Put it all back together and you’re good to go.

Screwing the actual tank down onto the deck can be a little difficult too. I’ve noticed that a careful, gentle hand will get it done most times. Try to catch the thread as best you can and you’ll eventually get it. I have seen others mention to take the domed cap out of the tank, and place it on the deck before trying to screw the two pieces together. Apparently this makes it easier, but I haven’t tried that yet.

Another thing that I learnt early on with the Profile M is that you do not need to build this to maximise the wicking. It does excellently by itself. If you try to tease the cotton too much or getting it wicking too efficiently, it will actually overwick causing gurgles as well as a very wet vape. Follow the instructions, there are no real tricks here. This all works as advertised!

Any Leaks?

None, besides a little e-liquid seeping out the back of the fill port when trying to get the tank 100% full. Otherwise this is a very clean tank to use.

Pros:

  • Excellent flavour
  • Easy to build on
  • Great build quality
  • Excellent airflow
  • Great small size
  • Accessories are appreciated

Cons:

  • Filling to 100% can be a bit painful
  • Smaller e-liquid capacity
  • Screwing the tank down onto the deck can be a bit cumbersome.

Where to Buy:

You can pick up the Wotofo Profile M RTA right now, directly through the Wotofo online store for around the $39USD mark. That’s a pretty great price for the quality of tank you’ll get with the Profile M.

Conclusion

This little tank really is actually quite good. I’m not normally a tank user, but this has been an absolute pleasure to use. It not only has fantastic flavour, but puts out a lovely dense vape, is easy to use, and so super simple to build on.

As always, Wotofo have put their best foot forward and developed a fantastic little flavour banger, that does it’s job and does it well.
I did have a few little niggles here and there that I think could be improved on, but by all means they wouldn’t stop me purchasing this if I was in the market for one.

Well done Wotofo, a great little tank, perfect to put on a single battery device!
