Hellvape Dead Rabbit MAX RDA (28mm) Review

Hellvape Dead Rabbit MAX RDA (28mm) Review

It’s been a minute since my last review, but as always, when something comes across my desk that leaves a lasting impression on me, it gets a mention here, more than a mention, a pretty thorough run through, so that I can show you lot what I’m so excited about!

Today’s review is one of Hellvape’s latest products, it follows on the tails of one of their most successful ranges, the Dead Rabbit.

Let’s check out Hellvape’s Dead Rabbit MAX RDA!

Big thanks goes to Vaporstate, who sent this out for the purposes of review!

General Info & Features

As you can see from the photos above, the Dead Rabbit MAX RDA is quite a large offering, Hellvape’s largest RDA I believe. It runs at a huge 28mm in diameter, and 38mm in total height, meaning it has a tonne of room for some larger coils, and is very easy to build on.

From top to bottom, Hellvape have given us a lovely large 810 drip tip, that’s matchy matchy with whichever RDA you choose to purchase, it’s o-ring-less, so you can use it on plenty of other RDA’s in the market and fits wonderfully.

The top cap is a 2 piece design with an inner and outer sleeve, the inner being your initial covering with a slight dome to the inside for great flavour, and stepped down as it gets to the top in order to give a more condensed vapour chamber. The outer cap is there as your airflow control, swivelling around on the two orings supplied on the inner cap, but guided by the notch system that they’ve introduced so that you can find your smallest, and largest airflow positions.

As you can see, the two airflow holes on either size are in the shape of an X, which I was a little hesitant about, worried that they might introduce a little whistle or noise to the vape, but thankfully they actually do the opposite, providing a slight redirection of air, making it even quieter, and providing a slightly turbulent yet, more flavourful vape.

The Deck and Build

The build deck besides being a lot larger than previous Dead Rabbit iterations, is quite similar to it’s predecessors, with the signature towering ‘rabbit ear’ posts, side screws and deep juice well. As mentioned earlier there is heaps of room for building and throwing some slightly larger coils in.

The basic process, is similar to the previous versions, trim your coil legs to size, using the included coil cutting tool, pop your coil legs in the holes, line everything up and crank the screws down. You really can’t mess this up, it’s crazy easy to build on these. Your cotton doesn’t need to be overly long, just long enough to reach the deck.

Plenty of room for activities on this deck, and as you can see, wonderfully machined.

Airflow

I have to say, the airflow in this is pretty phenomenal. I did not expect it to be as smooth as it is with such a large RDA, not to mention those X airflow holes, but it is. It’s great to see that Hellvape have considered this, likely knowing that their X designed holes, might contribute a little turbulence. Super smooth, and flavourful.

Pros:

  • Squonkable
  • Lots of room to build
  • Can fit larger coils
  • Lightweight
  • Notches for airflow limits
  • Great looking RDA

Cons:

  • None

Where to Buy:

You can pick up the Hellvape Dead Rabbit MAX RDA locally from Vaporstate’s online store. They’ve got them listed for the $59.95 AUD mark, which is an excellent price.

Conclusion

Shocked is an understatement. I had my reservations on this one, not only being an extra large RDA, but also the general design of the airflow holes and equally as concerned about how heavy this RDA might be. Boy was I surprised, when I found out that all of my concerns just simply weren’t warranted.

The Dead Rabbit MAX is one hell of an RDA, designed for those who want maximum vapour and flavour, with a big deck for your large fancy coils, a deep juice well, and signature dead rabbit posts.

The airflow in this is fantastic, nice and smooth, with the slightest turbulence for great flavour.

Hellvape sure do know how to make an RDA and it’s the small things that matter, the notches or ‘stoppers’ for the min and max airflow setting, the notches for lining up the top caps, and making sure to throw in a squonk pin for those of us who love our bottom feed devices.

This is a banger of an RDA, lightweight, flavoursome and just great design.

Good work Hellvape!
