Geekvape z50 Kit Reviewed

Geekvape have been spending a bit of time on a few new products lately, and while they’re not completely new, more-so upgrades to existing models, the usual Geekvape innovation still shines through. Among the latest updates is the L200 Kit (the successor to the Aegis Legend Kit), the Aegis Nano (a smaller version of their Boost), and the product that I’ll be reviewing today, the Z50 Kit.

The z50 kit is a brand new internal battery mod, with one of Geekvape’s ‘Z Nano’ (or historically the Zeus Nano Tank) on top. It’s uncanny that they should come out with this kit, because I always thought that the Z Nano, deserved to sit on it’s own dedicated device, something that was slimlined to match the smaller size of the tank, small enough to slip into your pocket but with enough power to throw out some restricted direct to lung clouds.

And here it is, pretty much exactly as I’d imagined!

Let’s take a look at Geekvape’s latest z50 kit!

Big thanks goes to Geekvape for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info & Photos

You’d probably describe the z50 kit as a mid-range kit, not overly large, but also not small enough to be in Pod territory. With a 2000mah internal battery, a maximum 50 Watt output, and a 3.5ml e-liquid capacity, it’s the type of kit that will keep you going most of the day without needing to fill up or recharge too often.

It’s a tank and device kit, meaning, you have a 510 connection between both, so if you need to, you can swap the tank or device out at a pinch with anything else that has a 510 connection (most if not all devices).

With and anti-leak top adjustable airflow, easy 1/2 turn threaded top fill cap, extra bubble glass, variable wattage, colour display, and ability to take B-Coils (boost coils), this kit is not only well made, but sports some of the more desirable features that make a great setup in today’s market.

The Body

There’s not a lot of information around on what this device is made from, it’s not quite light enough to be aluminium, and not quite heavy enough to be a zinc alloy, could it be stainless steel? It’s certainly possible. Besides the material that it’s made from, you’ll notice that the Z50 mod is quite slim, you can really wrap your hand around it, making it not only comfortable to use but easy to slip into your pocket. It’s not small enough for you to do that on a day to day basis since it’s quite long with the tank on top, but with it being lightweight enough, you’ll find yourself popping it into a jacket pocket and forgetting about it.

The device itself has some nice curves to it and as you can see, the anodised rainbow that I have here, is quite a pretty piece, even though it’s a bit of a fingerprint magnet! There are metallic/pearlescent sticker inserts on both sides where the design is dependant on which colour device you have. The finish on the entire thing, is simply stunning, smooth, and tough, you’ll be able to throw this around without getting it all scratched up too easily.

Because this device has been designed for use with the Z Nano tank (Zeus Nano), it’s specifications reflect the usage that is needed for the tank. (Restricted Direct to Lung > loose Mouth to Lung)

It has a 2000mah onboard battery, an internal 18650 if you will, with a resistance range of between 0.1-3ohm ensuring you really can throw most builds onto it without worrying about reaching a resistance cap.

It has all of the usual protections that a regulated device would have including 10 second cutoff, low voltage warnings, as well as others to make sure you’re kept safe while vaping.

From top to bottom, you have your 510 connection, large fire button on the front face, with colour screen and adjustment buttons below. Underneath all of the controls is a USB Type – C charging port also, ensuring that you can get a fast charge when needed, at a 2amp charge rate.

The Tank

I won’t go on about the Z Nano tank too much, as I have already reviewed it before, when it was known as the “Zeus Nano”. Here is the Zeus Nano Review. In short however, it’s a top adjustable airflow tank that takes Geekvape B series coils (boost coils) and can take up to a 3.5ml capacity when using the bubble glass.

Up top is a 2/3rd turn cap hiding two large kidney shaped fill ports, with a stoppered airflow adjustment ring underneath it with a small cyclops airflow hole on each side. You might have a little trouble filling via the fill ports here, as the ring inside isn’t quite large enough to allow the nozzle of an eliquid bottle to get right down to the fill port.
It’s not really an issue though, just line it up and fill slowly, don’t fill too fast or you might make a mess.

The base screws off, to allow you to install new coils that push home quite easily, also providing a well that can collect any e-liquid seepage, rather than it left sitting inside the airflow channels.

It puts out a fantastic vape, that is nice and dense, and quite flavourful, and your options are endless, really only dependant on which coil you choose to use in it, whether that be a MTL coil or a DTL designed coil.

Battery

As mentioned earlier, the z50 mod, comes with a 2000mah internal battery.

The z50 does have fast charging via the USB Type-C charge port, and is able to charge up to a 2amp limit, so you can be sure you’ll be able to recharge quite quickly. I’ve not run mine flat so unfortunately do not know the charge time from completely empty to full charge, but from my experience charging it, you should be charged in about an hour.

If you’re caught out with an empty battery, don’t fret, the z50 also has pass-through charging, so you can still vape while plugged in too.

Any Leaks?

None, this is a top airflow tank, so no chance of leaking.

Usage & Features

The z50 is pretty straight forward, there aren’t a lot of options thankfully, and you’ll find most of the operations fairly intuitive. You’ll operate it as you would any other device, via the fire and adjustment buttons, with the large colour display. Speaking of which, the display is nicely designed with nice clear fonts, all of the information you could ever need, including wattage, resistance, amps, voltage, puffs and battery level indicator. You can even change the colour of the display to suit your preference too!

Here’s a few of the options.

  • Change Modes: Press the fire button x3 times, and choose your mode via the up/down buttons. You can choose from the following modes: Power, Bypass, VPC, TC-TCR, TC-SS.
  • From the mode selection, you can also adjust various settings by pressing the fire button. To exit, HOLD the fire button.
  • Lock/Unlock device: Hold up/down buttons together
  • Stealth Mode: Hold Fire/Up/Down buttons together
  • Brightness Up: Hold Fire/Up button together
  • Brightness Down: Hold Fire/Down button together
  • Change colour of display: Go into mode selection, by clicking fire button 3 times, then hold the up/down buttons at the same time to change the colour. You can choose between dark orange, light orange, yellow and blue.

Pros:

  • Well built
  • Excellent vape
  • Small and lightweight
  • Plenty of options
  • Decent e-liquid capacity and battery life
  • 2amp fast charging
  • Top adjustable airflow

Cons:

  • Nozzle of e-liquid bottle is too big for fill ports.
  • I would have liked to see a slightly larger battery here. 2000mah lasts well, but 3000mah would have been even better.

Where to Buy:

As always, you can purchase directly through the Geekvape Online store, where you’ll be able to pick up the z50 kit for around the $80 AUD mark. It’s on presale right now, but will be released very soon, apparently they are already on their way to vape stores.

Conclusion

I’m really digging the z50 kit, it puts out the sort of vape that I like, nice and quite, smooth, yet powerful enough to fog a room out at a moment’s notice! I just knew this would work, the Z Nano (Zeus Nano) with a dedicated device, is the perfect kit for those who want something small enough to slip into their pocket, rugged enough for every day life, and completely leak-proof. Throw in the fact that it uses B Series (Boost) coils and you’ve got a winner.

I’ve been carrying 3-4 devices with me over the last few weeks, and I just seem to gravitate toward this one for some reason. It’s just a really nice form factor, and puts out a satisfying vape.

About the only gripe that I have with the z50 is the fill port being a little too small for an eliquid nozzle, and that is it. It could probably do with a slightly larger battery capacity, but that’s a fine line between form factor and battery life, you wouldn’t have such a slim device with a larger battery.

Geekvape, you’ve done a wonderful job with this! Excellent work!
