Geekvape Wenax K1 Review

Geekvape Wenax K1 Review

I love a great little MTL Pod setup and that’s what I’ve got for you today!

Smaller Pods are great for when you’re out and about and just want to slip something in your pocket for a sneaky puff every so often. It means you can leave your gargantuan cloud blowing box mod at home, less risk for dents and scratches, and you’re carrying a lot less too!

This little beaut is Geekvape’s second version of the Wenax, I reviewed the first a while back, and it was a great little device, with a lovely draw to it.
Geekvape have obviously taken the positives of that and run with a second version, hopefully improving on it, and then some!

Let’s take a look at the Geekvape Wenax K1!

Big thanks goes to Geekvape for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info

The Wenax K1 from Geekvape is your typical stick pod type of device. With mouth to lung vaping in mind, it has a small form factor, minimal battery specs, as well as e-liquid capacity and a lower operating wattage.
It’s designed for those times when you’re popping out of the house for an hour or two and don’t want to drag any of your fancy devices out and about, or if you simply prefer something a little smaller and more portable.

With a 600mah battery, and a 2ml e-liquid capacity, this device won’t keep you going all day and night, but it will get you though most of the day, if you’re using the 1.2ohm Pod provided. You’ll also be vaping with a nice tighter MTL style airflow, 3 different power settings, a pocket fire prevention mechanism, a button fire and auto-draw mode, refillable fixed coil pod, and a USB Type-C charge port for fast charging.

While there might not be a lot of bells and whistles, there is some great stuff here.

The Body

The Wenax K1 is lightweight with an anodised aluminium body, it’s a similar size to most Pod sticks, a little narrower I’d say, the official sizing is 114.6 × 21.6 × 11.5mm. The shape of it helps it sit in the hand really comfortably, while the lovely finish of it (it’s a metallic paint), feels great also. It’s all nice smooth rounded corners here, with no sharp edges in sight.

Up top is the Pod recess, where your Pods push in and stay put with a little friction. They sit nice and tight and even the biggest flick in the hand, won’t budge them. This is due to the two dimples on either side, making sure that the Pods sit snug in the recess.

Below the dimples on either side are some super small airflow holes. They’re not even 1mm in diameter, so you know you’re going to be in for a pretty tight draw with this one.

On the front face is your operating button, and small LED underneath it. The button protrudes the smallest bit but is chamfered and also impressed, so minimises the risk of pushing it by accident. Curiously the button is a slightly different shade as the rest of the device, it’s a little darker, with a slight red hue to it on my Blue Wenax. Anyway, the LED under the button lights up when pressing the button, changing modes, taking a draw, or placing it on charge.

On the bottom you’ll find a USB Type-C charge port, which is always excellent to see. USB Type-C should always be offered on any new devices in my opinion.

The PODs

The Pods for the Wenax K1 are your classic PCTG plastic. These 2ml Pods are a closed system and one piece Pods, so you won’t be able to replace the coils. Only refill the e-liquid when empty. I would have liked to have seen these have removable coils like the Wenax Stylus did, just for a little more flexibility. As they are though, the single use Pods are quite good, with two different resistance options, and they’re pretty easy to fill.

Up top there is a fixed drip tip, its and oblong shape that fits nicely to your lips, and is quite comfortable, great for a mouth to lung draw.

The main tank is tinted PCTG plastic that is nice and glossy and really easy to see your e-liquid through. I think Geekvape have gotten the balance spot on here, well at least in the looks department.

Underneath, you’ll notice the airflow inlets on the bottom. Again, just like the airflow holes on the side of the device, they are tiny, so expect a mouth to lung vape from this.

The two different Pods that come in the box are:

  • 0.8ohm,12-16W
This Pod will give you a good slightly open MTL experience, great for those who want to use the Wenax on it’s highest power setting and need a little more air to do so. It’s not quite perfect for me though, a little too airy.
  • 1.2ohm,10-12W
This Pod is more of a tighter MTL draw. My favourite of the two and works wonderfully even on the lowest power setting of the device.

Airflow

The airflow, just like many other Pods before it, comes in from the sides of the device, and under the Pod. There is no real way of adjusting this airflow, although you can block off one of the airflow holes on the side if you want to, to make it a little more restricted.

The different Pods provide slightly different airflow however, so if you’d prefer a more open MTL draw, the 0.8ohm Pod will suit you. However if you’re after a more realistic, tighter MTL draw, the 1.2ohm Pod will be best.

Battery

The battery in the Wenax K1 is only tiny, at 600mah you’re not going to be running a high powered system, but it’s large enough for what this device does and considering the lower wattage levels used by the Pods, 600mah is plenty enough to get you through a whole day, maybe 2 days even!

The charge port is on the bottom, and it’s great to see that it is USB Type-C, and charges the device pretty quickly. The Wenax K1 also has passthrough charging, meaning you can still vape while it’s charging!

Filling

Filling is as simple as most other Pod systems. Remove the Pod, flip up the little silicone cover, and fill. The fill port is a little smaller than others, so, it can be a little cumbersome to fill, but you can get this close to 100% full with no real issues. With such a small fill hole, you’ll likely want to give it a quick wipe with a tissue before putting the rubber stopper back in though!

Some might say the fill port would have been better at the top of the Pod so that you wouldn’t have to remove it to fill, but I don’t think this is a big issue, and in all honesty, it looks a lot nicer without a fill plug on top.

Any Leaks?

I’ve had a little seepage from the Pods, not a lot, and definitely no leaking. So rest assured you’re not going to end up with an empty pod with juice leaking down the side. Give it a little wipe out every so often and you’re good.

Usage

There’s no screen on the Wenax K1, but it does brilliantly without one. Geekvape have brought some really easy to use features to the table here, and they’re so easy to use, you actually only need the one button.

There are two ways to fire this device, with the button, and just by inhaling, using the auto-draw function. You’ll be pleased to hear that you can even turn this device off and the auto draw still works, so you have zero risk of the device firing in your pocket.

On top of this, you have 3 different power settings, that will allow you to cycle through between 9 and 16 watts displaying a different colour for each setting. To set this just click the fire button x3 times to cycle through them. I’m uncertain of the exact wattage that each setting uses, but a close enough guess would be…

Low 9 Watts = White
Medium 12 Watts = Blue
High 16 Watts = Green

One neat thing that Geekvape have also included is your battery status. Many Pod vapes do not do this and it can be frustrating.
Click the button quickly, and the LED light will light up to tell you how much charge you have left in your battery.

Red = Below 30%
Blue = Between 31% – 69%
Green = Above 70%

Pros:

  • Excellent slim size
  • Instant power
  • Very responsive auto draw
  • Pocket fire protection
  • Wonderful flavour
  • Stylish and comfortable
  • x2 different Pods included
  • USB Type-C
  • x3 Power output settings
  • Excellent MTL draw

Cons:

  • Difficult to lift rubber fill plug
  • All in one Pods

Where to Buy:

You can pick up the Geekvape Wenax K1 directly through Geekvape’s online store via the button below. They have it priced at about the $25 USD mark, which is pretty much the price that I expected it to run at.

Conclusion

There are seriously so few Pod devices out there that really impress me, and provide the mouth to lung draw that I expect. Not only that but also put a little power behind it with a really responsive auto-draw function.
This is one of those.

The Caliburn was a long time favourite among Pod Vapers, I think the Advken Potento and Potento X knocked that off of the podium.
Then along comes this little beauty that has impressed me so much, I’d place it directly alongside the Potento’s as one of the best MTL Pods available today.

With 3 power modes, pocket fire protection, battery level indicator, button fire and auto-draw modes, the Wenax K1 puts some pretty impressive features out for a Pod device with only the one button!

Top notch work here Geekvape, I love this even more than the previous Wenax Stylus!
