Geekvape S100 Kit Reviewed

Following on from my review of the Geekvape M100 kit the other day, I’ll be taking a look at it’s bigger brother the S100 kit today. Geekvape have been on a bit of a mission lately, releasing newer versions of some of their popular original Aegis line, in order to bring them up to more modern specifications, and streamline the usage of their new chipset, and features across their offerings.

The S100 is basically the Geekvape Solo 2 Kit, with a different name, single external battery, large wattage out put, and slightly larger tank than the M100 kit.

Let’s take a look at Geekvape’s S100 (Aegis Solo 2) kit!

Big thanks goes to Geekvape for sending this directly through to me for review!

General Info & Photos

The new Geekvape S100 is a familiar sight. It’s aesthetics keep in line with the already popular Aegis line of which it originates. This single external battery Mod+Tank combo is basically Geekvape’s newest iteration of the Solo kit. In fact, you’ll even see it referred to as the Aegis Solo 2 kit on Geekvapes very own website.

The new S100 (solo) mod is paired with Geekvapes Z Tank, it’s actually a pretty great combo, and just like the M100 kit, the combo feels like it’s just meant to be be together!

With a maximum 100 Watts output, single removeable 18650 battery, USB C fast charging, larger screen, more modern styling, a 5.5ml e-liquid capacity, and Geekvape’s new “A-lock” sliding switch, the S100 kit (Solo 2) is looking to be one of Geekvape’s staple setups of 2021.

The Body

Just like the rest of the newer Aegis line, the S100 is made from zinc-alloy, with metallic frame, and leather stitched heel at the back for a comfortable and ergonomic grip. The build quality is great, with everything fitting together really well, no misaligned panels, and screws and threading are machined to perfection.

The S100 does take things a little further than previous models. It now features an IP68 rating for an even more robust water, shock and dust-proof device.

Up top, the S100 has a 510 connection point protected by a steel plate, so you can pop any tank you like on it. The size of the top is quite generous, and you should be able to fit anywhere up to about a 25-26mm tank on top without any issues.
Just below this is a rubber stopper that you unplug to reveal a hidden USB Type C charging port. The S100 charges at a 5v/2A charge rate to make sure you’re charged in no time if you’re caught without an external charger.

The front face has been cleaned up a little, and moving the USB port to the top has also given the front panel a more open and modern feel to it. The buttons are all now a little flatter, and the screen has been made a little larger.
The rest of the body is remeniscent of previous Aegis devices, with your typical steel cage trim, and leather heel. This time around with some extra stitching just for some extra styling.
On on of the sides, you’ll find a new switch, called the “A-lock” this locks the device down without needing to use a button combination or click the fire button x5 times, a quick way to deactivate the device before you throw it in your jacket pocket.

Underneath, you’ll find a familiar threaded battery cap, which unscrews smoothly to expose a roomy 18650 battery bay.

Battery & Charging

As mentioned earlier, the S100 has moved the charging port from the front of the device to the top hidden behind a rubber plug. This charge port is capable of 5V/2A fast charging, so you’ll get your battery charged really quickly, should you be caught out without an external charger. The battery bay fits all 18650 batteries I’ve tried, with ease, and a nice smooth thread on the battery cap, makes sure you can get your battery in and out without trashing your fingers.

Usage & Features

The S100, M100, and L200 all seem to have very similar controls, the layout of the UI is pretty intuitive and simple to use, even when you decide to use the more advanced functions, such as any of the various Temperature control modes.

Here are a few of the general commands:

  • x5 clicks of fire button to turn on/off
  • x3 clicks of fire button to get into mode settings
  • Up/Down to cycle through the modes then fire to select
  • Fire + Up = turn brightness of display up
  • Fire + Down = turn brightness of display down
  • Fire + Up + Down = Stealth mode
  • Slide the side switch to lock/unlock the device!

The Z Nano 2 Tank

We’ve seen the Z Tank before, the latest version was originally released on the S100’s big brother the L200 and I’ve gone over it pretty extensively in my L200 kit review, so I won’t go over it all again here. But in short, it’s a top adjustable airflow tank with up to 5.5ml e-liquid capacity with it’s bubble glass, really clean design, and taking Geekvapes Z Series plug and play coils.

You’ll get two different coils in the kit. We’ve seen these before in the L200 kit, and both coils perform excellently, with a rich dense vapour and fantastic flavour. You’ll really only choose one over the other depending on what wattage you would like to vape.

  • Z Series 0.2ohm coil (70-80Watts)
  • Z Series 0.25 ohm dual coil (45-57Watts)

Any Leaks?

None, this is a top airflow tank, so no chance of leaking.

Pros:

  • Great aesthetic and ergonomic design
  • Well built with quality in mind
  • Perfect Mod + Tank combo
  • Decent eliquid capacity and maximum Wattage output
  • Excellent vape and flavour
  • Love the new “A-Lock” on the side for locking the device
  • IP68 dust-proof, water-proof and shock-proof

Cons:

  • Your wattage capacity will depend on the battery you use. I ran into issues running over 65Watts with the 0.2ohm coil and getting the vape cutoff, presumably due to an Amperage cap.

Where to Buy:

As always, you can purchase directly through the Geekvape Online store, where you’ll be able to pick up the S100 kit for around the $80 USD mark. It’s on presale right now, but will be released very soon.

Conclusion

Just like the M100 kit, I’ve really enjoyed the S100 mod and tank combo. The new styling and improvements over the original Solo are obvious, making this upgrade well worth jumping on.
Special mentions are the new side “A-Lock”, the maximum 100W output, and the Z Tank pairing which really does make this setup an excellent choice. I’ve not found much of a difference between the S100 and M100 kits to be honest, with the obvious exception of the battery types, they seem to perform very much the same, with all of the same options.
One issue that did bug me a little was the maximum 100W output claim. This simply doesn’t happen with a lower resistance coil like the 0.2 ohm coil, and an 18650. The S100 seems to have an amperage cap on it, I guess the new 8.5Volts output affects this. I’ve found the vape cutting off at times and had to drop my wattage setting in order to keep vaping. Having said that, if you love under 70 Watt vaping you should be fine with it.
A 21700 version of this kit in the future would definitely be very welcomed, for not only the Amperage/Wattage cap, but also for a longer battery life.

All in all this is a good solid improvement over the original, and I’d recommend anyone looking for something like this to jump on it straight away. Everything works as it should, with a nice dense and flavourful vape.

Well done Geekvape!
