e-Liquid Review: Ripple from the Chocolatier Vape Co

Welcome back for another review of flavours from The Chocolatier Vape Co range! The last week or so I’ve been taking a closer look at this range, and let me tell you, it’s impressive!

This one is the last flavour of the range, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that it’s anything short of excellent. Just as intensely flavoured as the others in this line, “Ripple” does a fantastic job of bringing a little butterscotch into our lives!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Ripple” from The Chocolatier Vape Co.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“One of the Chocolatier’s favourite desserts, Ripple is a mix of light butterscotch toffee ice cream mixed with a lashing of vanilla creams and milk chocolate, finished off with a sprinkle of wafer cone and biscuit crumbs.”

The Review

Just as you thought things couldn’t get any more complex, along comes a flavour that has so many different dessert notes that come together, you’ll have a hard time keeping track of them all!

“Ripple” seems to be more of an ice cream sundae, or thick-shake type of profile with various extras thrown in, and not a pre-defined dessert, like many of the others in this range. Where “Rough” mimicks a Golden Rough, and “SLAB” is the mirror of a “Peanut Slab”, “Ripple” doesn’t completely relate to a Chocolate Ripple as you might expect (I know I did).

I totally expected a chocolate biscuit, that had been covered in whipped cream and left overnight to soften into a ripple cake, but thats not all that I got now was it!

Nope, instead, ripple is a complex blend of light Chocolate and butterscotch ice cream with biscuit crumbs and a toffee undertone.

“Ripple is a delicious, thick and creamy butterscotch toffee light chocolate and biscuit notes, with a super silky finish!”

Individual Notes

The chocolate is very light in this one, just like the last few flavours, the chocolate is dialed back to more of a background note than a dominant foreground. It’s sweet, and creamy, with a slight cocoa feel to it.

There is some butterscotch here, and a little toffee. These two seemingly blend together so I’m describing them as one. The butterscotch has a light caramel feel to it, sweet yet rich, while the toffee carries with it a little extra sugar and a hard candy feel to it. These blend together really well supporting each other and both together make a much better impression that each of them would on their own.

Of course there is cream in this, it’s a thick sweet cream, almost whipped, with a light sweetness, and a very light marshmallow tone. Fluffy, thick and sticky, the creams cling to the chocolate, and butterscotch making this a very creamy and decadent dessert.

The biscuit here is lighter than the last flavour “S’mores”, taking on more of a background note with the chocolate, combined giving off a bit of a chocolate ripple cookie flavour. It’s a little doughy, but not so doughy as to think of a shortbread, I also notice a little nutty texture to it too.

Finger Test

Just like the other flavours in this range, the taste test is devine. You could surely add this to your morning coffee and create an amazing morning beverage! The toffee and butterscotch are very much front and centre on the taste test, with the chocolate and biscuit falling to the background, the cream carrying it through for a lovely silky texture.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is all butterscotch and light chocolate. The chocolate is of course very very light at this stage, dialed back on purpose as to not obstruct any of the other flavours. It does get stronger as the inhale continues, along with the butterscotch beginning to take a little bit of a sweeter, more toffee like turn.

At the top of the inhale, the chocolate is at it’s strongest point, and it’s here that you’ll notice a little cocoa note appear, along side a little bit of ripple cookie fading in from the background, giving off quite a richness on the mid range, and setting the stage for the exhale.

As you begin to exhale, the creams kick in instantly, sweet creams, sugary and thick coat your tongue, carrying the butterscotch through to the exhale and bridging the biscuit and chocolate, pushing them back once again allowing the thicker and smoother notes to take hold.

The exhale continues to push the butterscotch forward with the creams getting stronger as you go, all the while an undertone of toffee, very sweet and caramel binds to the butterscotch helping to richen it, sweeten it and blend in with the creams.

It’s this combined flavour that you’ll see carry right through until the end of the vape. Thick, creamy, butterscotch and toffee.

Final thoughts

I like balance. It’s how I know if a flavour has had a lot of work done with it, it just balances so well, and this is one of those flavours. I can tell that a lot of time and effort has been put into this one, it has so many levels, so many facets, with all of these individual notes folding into one so delicately, how could you not like it.

The butterscotch has been dialed back so as to not overbear, as has the chocolate, with the focus being more on the creams helping to flow the rest of the flavours through the vape.
That toffee undertone was also a very nice addition, some attention to detail that does not go unnoticed.

What would I change? Nothing really, I suppose I could pick on the chocolate being barely noticeable, but that just comes with the profile. Despite the Chocolatier branding, this one is not a chocolate based flavour.

Butterscotch and toffee rule the day here, and to be honest, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

A fantastic flavour, well done guys.

Presentation:

Very very impressive presentation here. The Chocolatier Vape Co have done a wonderful job on their bottles and labelling. I received 100ml Chubby Gorilla styled bottles, tinted, with childproof and tamper proof seals, with a needle tip dispenser in the cap.

The labels are your usual matt labels, with each flavour sporting a different shade of colour. The branding is gorgeous with the company name and flavour name front and centre on a patterned background. There’s plenty of information here too, from ingredients, warnings, born date, size, PG/VG ratio, social media info, barcode and company details.

I love to see labels with all of that info, it shows that Aussie juice companies are serious in competing with international brands.
