e-Liquid Review: SLAB from the Chocolatier Vape Co

This week I’m taking a look at one of the newest Aussie e-liquid ranges to come out this year. It’s a range that has boldly taken on the chocolate profile front on, determined to prove that you can in fact create a tasty and very vape-able chocolate flavour.

This range focuses on chocolate treats that we all know and love, from Golden Rough’s right through to Orange Cremes, and everything in between. There’s definitely some old favourites here, as well as flavours you might not expect, all delicately balanced and true to their origins.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “SLAB” from The Chocolatier Vape Co.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“Who doesn’t love roasted peanuts jammed into a slab of milk chocolate? One of the Chocolatier’s less complicated flavours because that’s all it should be, beautiful simplicity.”

The Review

We’ve all had one of these at least once, a Whittaker’s Peanut Slab. Yep you got it right, a thick slab of chocolate you really have to bite into to even get to the peanut. And when you do, there’s a slight caramel, and a very toasty roasted peanut that hits you hard, combining with that slab of sticky chocolate. Lovely.

And The Chocolatier Vape Co have hit this profile on the head. It’s quite a polished copy that sets the peanut perfectly, and the chocolate very close to the mark.

The flavoursome thick sweet chocolate is the dominating flavour, until the rich roasted peanuts kick in and blend back through it to create a simple yet decadent flavour.

“Sweet thick chocolate layered over signature roasted peanuts, delicately balanced and true to form”

Individual Notes

The chocolate in this one is similar to the chocolate in “Rough“, it’s a little heavier however, which can be a good and a bad thing. Good in that we get to see just how tasty the chocolate can be, sweet and thick, and full textured. But bad in the sense that like other chocolates, it does contain a level of dryness or chalkiness to it in vape form. Sort of like a lower quality chocolate or a chocolate that is not quite as fresh.

The peanut is exemplary, toned down so as to not take over the chocolate, yet strong enough to peek through and provide that contrast of texture.
It has a toasted or roasted feel, which comes across as more savoury than sweet.

Sometimes I feel as though I notice something else in here, whether its a very light caramel, or a marshmallow/cream, that fills in the background a little, thickening things up without compromising the flavour at all. In fact at these times I find it helps the two blend. Other times it’s not there, and the chocolate and peanut seem to trade off of each other fighting for dominance a little, like they are separating and not blending as well.

Finger Test

The first taste test on the finger gives me an obvious profile. It’s an absolutely true to form Peanut Slab, sweet and savoury. It’s so delicately balanced that neither overrides the other, blending into and creating that familiar conflict of textures, silky and thick, against slightly dry and crunchy.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, the chocolate appears first, lightly of course, smooth and rich. This doesn’t last long though, as the peanut gradually works it’s way in with it’s savoury roasted notes getting stronger alongside the chocolate as the inhale continues.

Hitting the top of the inhale, you’ll notice the peanut reach it’s tallest point, this is where you’ll get that real nuttiness and quite a dryish savoury feel. Emphasising this is a little cocoa/dark chocolate feel from the chocolate which contributes to the chalkiness at this point too.

As you exhale, the peanut falls back a little as the silky and creamy chocolate notes take over, gradually shaking that dryness and pulling things back to where they should be.

The rest of the vape is sweet and smooth sailing with a little moisture coming back into things, and the peanut falling back below the chocolate, not disappearing, just laying under the surface offering that contrast in texture that is so important to this profile.

Final thoughts

I’ve tried many other chocolates in my time vaping and so far The Chocolatier Vape Co range is definitely the stand out. Just like “Rough”, this flavour is a bang on mirror of the real thing. Obviously there is going to be a little movement in flavour depending on how you vape, and which setup you use, but in general it ticks all of the boxes.

I did notice a little extra dryness in the chocolate with “SLAB”, whether it’s due to the chocolate being more noticeable, or that more was used, I don’t really know. What I will tell you however, is that The Chocolatier have obviously also seen this as a negative with chocolate flavourings and done their very best to minimise this with creams.
Throw in some savoury peanut to add a little contrast and you have a winner.

Would I change anything? Not a lot. I’d likely try to minimise that chalkiness even more, with perhaps some marshmallow, marzipan or something sweet to counter it.

This is otherwise another fantastic flavour from The Chocolatier Vape Co, as I mentioned earlier, true to form, with quite a realistic chocolate and roasted peanuts that break through to create that unique chocolate peanut combination in textures.

If you go crazy over chocolate and peanut you’re going to want to try this one!

Great work guys! Looking forward to the rest!

Very very impressive presentation here. The Chocolatier Vape Co have done a wonderful job on their bottles and labelling. I received 100ml Chubby Gorilla styled bottles, tinted, with childproof and tamper proof seals, with a needle tip dispenser in the cap.

The labels are your usual matt labels, with each flavour sporting a different shade of colour. The branding is gorgeous with the company name and flavour name front and centre on a patterned background. There’s plenty of information here too, from ingredients, warnings, born date, size, PG/VG ratio, social media info, barcode and company details.

I love to see labels with all of that info, it shows that Aussie juice companies are serious in competing with international brands.
