e-Liquid Review: Danvers from the Witch Hunt Vapour range

e-Liquid Review: Danvers from the Witch Hunt Vapour range

I really enjoy reviewing local e-liquids, we have so many great companies here in Australia, and in my opinion just as many great juice chefs producing quality flavours for us all to enjoy. There really does seem to be a lot of choices out there now, and that is fantastic! You can never have enough choice!

This next range that I’ll be reviewing is from the Adelaide Hills, South Australia, created by a fellow named James. After mixing and vaping on his own flavours, for a while, he’s thrown his hat into the ring and released them to the public.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Danvers” from Witch Hunt Vapour.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
A refreshing Apple & Mango Cider flavour. Perfect for those hot summer days!

The Review

Love me a good cider, and there are so few cider flavours out there, well, at least from Australian vendors. In saying that, this is probably my most anticipated e-liquid from Witch Hunt Vapour.
Granted, I’m very interested to see how their tobacco/custard and their pineapple lolly flavours are, but this one was on the top of my list.

This mild cider is an interesting mix. The Mango is thick and sticky, sweet and fleshy. It’s contrasted by acidic sweet Green Apple that not only brightens the mango but delivers a warmer profile when blended that lightly mimics that meady Cider feel.

“Danvers is a thick and sweet fleshy Mango, with a sharp and tart Green and Red Apple notes that slide in from the background helping to create the Cider profile”

Individual Notes

The Mango in this one is really nice. It has that familiar thick and syrupy consistency, very volumous, with a lot of sweetness. No dryness here, it’s a juicy fresh Mango through and through.

The Green Apple is bright and sharp, and helps to cut through the syrupy Mango, creating a depth and complexity. It’s a genuine green apple with light peel notes but a juicy, acidic centre, the kind you can just feel your teeth sinking into with a crunch.

I could be wrong, but I believe there is a bit of Red Apple here too. Not as crisp as the Green Apple and more of a mid range fruit, with less acidity. This type of apple has a warmer feel, more stewy, or meady, offering a perfect profile to create a Cider.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I immediately notice the Mango, it’s fuzzy and sweet, and has a full textured feel about it from the get-go. I don’t notice the Apple straight away as it kind of creeps up as you inhale, as the Mango is intensifying.
Just before the top of the inhale, I notice a little acidity and juicy apple starting to shine through, mixing with the Mango into a well intended blend.

At the top, the Apple sharpens up showing it’s punch and pushing a little kick to the back of the throat, while the silky mango smoothes it over almost immediately.

As you exhale, expect the sharpness to dull back a little as the Mango takes hold once more, allowing a more mid-range apple to make it’s presence known. You might not pick it straight away, but this is a warmer Red Apple type of note, that feels stewed, like you’d get in an apple pie, just without the base. This is where the magic Cider profile comes into play, the warmer stewed Red Apple giving off an almost mead feel, warming things up all the way through to the end of the exhale.

You’re then left with a warm yet sweet Mango and apple coating on your taste-buds.

Final thoughts

This is quite an enjoyable vape, it’s a little dialed back in flavour compared to others, so easily an all day vape, but still has enough punch behind it to recognise the fruits involved. To me this is more of a fruit based profile, than a cider, it wasn’t quite warm or complex enough for a brewed beverage.

I do get slight cider notes from the blend of Green and Red Apples and the way they cut through the Mango (which I thought was brilliantly done by the way), but it is more of a side effect of mixing the different profiles than a genuine Cider.

What would I change? I’d likely mix it up a bit, add more complexity, a little pear, perhaps the tiniest touch of cinnamon, even ginger, a few things just to muddle the mix up, to give it a more brewed feel.

All in all though, this is quite a tasty blend, like I said earlier, something you can vape all day without getting tired of it, and the fruits work really well together.

Great work guys!

Presentation:

I love the labels on these. I received 60ml tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with tamper proof and child-proof cap. There’s a nice narrow needle tip dispenser for easy filling, these bottles are great.

The labels are shiny gloss, bright and colourful with a witchy silhouette theme, and a respective colour. Front and centre in nice bold lettering is the Witch Hunt Vapour logo and Flavour name, the Flavour description is also present which is excellent. Every eliquid should have this.

All of the other information that you’d expect is here too. PG/VG ratio, warnings, ingredients, bottle size and social media icons.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
Bonza RDA with x2 Framed Stapled coils (0.2 ohm-ish)
