e-Liquid Review: Salem from the Witch Hunt Vapour range

e-Liquid Review: Salem from the Witch Hunt Vapour range

Welcome back folks, last week I started off on the fresh Mango/Apple Cider flavour that is “Danvers” from the brand new Witch Hunt Vapour range. That did pretty well against my picky taste-buds and today I have another to show you. I’ve been vaping this next flavour all weekend and if you know me, this was always going to be right up my alley.

Witch Hunt Vapour is a very recently released range, created in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills region, by a fellow by the name of James, who currently works in and looks after one of Adelaide’s great vape shops. There was no doubt that this range would be great, given James’s background, and his attention to detail. So let’s see what he’s cooked up for us today.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Salem” from Witch Hunt Vapour.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

A traditional caramel with a bold custard underlay has just a hint of the Witches Pyre.

The Review

Caramel Custards are a favourite of mine, there is no denying it. There is just something about a nice thick creamy custard with rich caramel tones that comes across as complex, classy, and absolutely delicious to me.

This one is a little different however and has an extra kick to it. Strengthening the richness of the Caramel is a blend of black honey and lighter smokey tobacco notes that create a real depth of flavour.

A tasty mix and quite an interesting vape!

“Rich Caramel and Honey Tobacco meet a thick and silky Vanilla Custard and create a lovely layered, and deep dessert profile.”

Individual Notes

Classic Vanilla Custard drives the background of this flavour, thick and creamy, and lightly dusted with vanilla, it’s a full and volumous flavour that makes the perfect backdrop throughout the entire vape.

There is caramel here too, a rich and sweet caramelised sugar that really deepens the custard and adds more depth.

Last but not least is the tobacco. This is very much a blended tobacco somewhere between a black honey tobacco, a pouch tobacco and a virginian tobacco. It has sweet yet smokey tones, and is completely void of any of that typical grassy feel that I notice in many virginia tobaccos or RY4’s. (which is a very good thing I should add)

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I immediately get strong vanilla and custard notes. They are of course robust, thick and creamy with a distinct vanilla, and slightly nutty note. As the inhale continues brown sugar tones slowly creep in caramelised and rich, combining with the silky smooth custard creating a lovely depth, a full sense flavour that impresses with it’s intensity.

At the top of the inhale the custard takes a little bit of a back seat to the caramel, as it’s deeper, richer feel washes up over the creams, all the while I begin to notice an even more complex profile appear.
The introduction of the tobacco, really livens this flavour up and provides another note for your taste-buds to cling to as it combines with the classic custard and rich caramel to create an even more layered flavour than before.

The tobacco with it’s slight black honey, light virginian feel, really does work it’s way in well with the caramel, making things even darker, and also giving it a smokey vibe.

Right through the exhale is where you’ll notice the tobacco, it shifts from clinging to the caramel to an almost smokey overtone toward the end of the exhale, drifting off as the vanilla and custard work their way back into things toward the end of the exhale.

Final thoughts

I love this one. I’ve spoken to a few others who aren’t such fans, but that is going to be down to personal preference. In my opinion, this is a very well balanced tobacco dessert that oozes richness, and keeps things interesting.

I like how the dryness of the tobacco has been minimised with both the use of the black honey, but also going a little heavier on the custard to hide that effect on the exhale. The way the caramel blends with the tobacco is also quite a nice touch, with both coming together and providing a lovely layered depth.

Bottom line, if you like your rich tobaccos and desserts, this is going to be a must try for you. If you’re not a tobacco lover but do love a good dessert, you’ll probably like it anyway, as the tobacco is not overbearing at all.

Great job guys, a job well done.

Where to Buy:

Witch Hunt Vapour don’t have their own online store, due to being in South Australia, but you can find out more information on their facebook page, (https://www.facebook.com/witch.hunt.vapour/) where they list their stockists, and updates on their line.

Colour:

Honey Tint

Aroma:

Thick Vanilla, Custard and Caramel notes. This is a strong smelling flavour! It will fill the room if you leave the bottle open.

Coil and wick damage:

For a tobacco/dessert this has been pretty clean. I’ve not had any issues with gunking of coils or ruined wicks at all.

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Texture:

Thick, rich and creamy dessert.

Steeping:

A steep is definitely recommended here. Tobacco and creams, this needs at least a week or 2 to mature.

Presentation:

I love the labels on these. I received 60ml tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with tamper proof and child-proof cap. There’s a nice narrow needle tip dispenser for easy filling, these bottles are great.

The labels are shiny gloss, bright and colourful with a witchy silhouette theme, and a respective colour. Front and centre in nice bold lettering is the Witch Hunt Vapour logo and Flavour name, the Flavour description is also present which is excellent. Every eliquid should have this.

All of the other information that you’d expect is here too. PG/VG ratio, warnings, ingredients, bottle size and social media icons.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
Bonza RDA with x2 Framed Stapled coils (0.2 ohm-ish)
