e-Liquid Review: Brett’s Cronuts from Affinity Creations

e-Liquid Review: Brett’s Cronuts from Affinity Creations

I can’t believe we are this late in the week already, it seems like Monday was only yesterday! Anyway, I’m continuing on with my reviews of the Affinity Creations range of eliquids, today, and this time around we have a bit of a dessert profile.

When this e-liquid range was created, they were named after people in the creator’s life, those who had an affinity to a specific flavour, and either were directly involved in or had inspired her to make their respective flavours.

Today it’s Brett’s turn, this review is of “Brett’s Cronuts” from Affinity Creations.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

The Review

When you try this flavour, you really have to picture what they were going for. The description says deep fried croissants with a little vanilla custard.
While many of you would probably taste this flavour and go “okay I can see that, and damn it’s a nice juice!”, but being a reviewer I need to ask myself the question, does this really taste like the description?

Your deep fried croissant will be buttery, a little rich, and it’s texture should probably be broken up a little with some silky smooth Vanilla Custard.

I do get that from this flavour, but that’s not the end of it.

“To me Brett’s Cronuts is a richer experience than what I believe was intended, and strays into the waffle zone with a syrupy nature and more of a deep fried dough texture than a pastry”

Individual Notes

I get a lot of waffle from this one, it’s much richer than the aforementioned deep fried croissant, with quite a doughy feel to it. It’s definitely deep fried, but more of a deep fried dough, than a deep fried pastry.

This flavour is syrupy too, some would say maple, but that’s not it, it is sticky and sweet, but I’m finding it to be more of a caramel, sweet and rich with a smokier note.

Vanilla custard is apparently here too. I get a little of it come through from time to time, but definitely not enough to say that it’s filled with Vanilla Custard. It’s your typical custard, sweet, and thick, also with a rich creaminess behind it.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale I pick up on the waffle notes immediately, they are a little dry to begin with but moisten up a little more as you inhale. There are light honey and caramel notes here too, which gives off a real waffle with caramel sauce kind of vibe. As always, the flavour intensifies as the inhale continues and you’re greeted with quite a rich mid range at the top of the inhale, you kind of feel that caramel at the back of the throat reach it’s peak.

The exhale shifts things around a little with that richness dropping off somewhat as I notice the Vanilla Custard appear. It’s silky smooth, thick and creamy, and nullifies any of that richer caramel from the inhale. It’s not a very strong flavour but it somehow draws the caramel back into more of a honey nut texture.

As the exhale continues, this all tightens up with the honey nut rolling itself out of the front line into more of a background note, as the light vanilla custard provides the cream and thickness to finish off the vape.

Final thoughts

Unfortunately I didn’t get much of a deep fried croissant vibe from this one. It was more of a fried waffle, richer than expected with a doughy base, a deeper honey and at the end, nutty tones.

This was doughy rather than a pastry, and I would have liked to have seen a little more contrast against the Vanilla Custard to help it stand out some more.

This is a very tasty juice, it’s complex and has some fantastic texture to it.

It didn’t match the description completely, but it is a delicious blend in it’s own right, and is a must try if you’re a dessert fan.

Presentation:

Very professional and unique branding on this range.
I received 60ml Tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with child-proof and tamper-proof caps, needle tips and black cap.
The labels are quite striking with a parchment background and black and white flavour specific artwork with juice name front and centre.
These labels go above and beyond with the information provided:

I’ve heard that these labels were the creation of 4 separate people pulling together to knock out some fantastic artwork!
