e-Juice Review: Watermelon Crush from Mr Wicky

e-Juice Review: Watermelon Crush from Mr Wicky

Hey folks, I’m back with another eliquid review from Mr Wicky’s range of juices!

Mr Wicky is quite a well known brand around Australia, I’ve noticed it stocked at most physical stores, and quite a few online stores as well. They’ve very much become a household name among Australian vapers.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Watermelon Crush” from Mr Wicky.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Icy watermelon crush for those hot summer days.

The Review

If you’ve ever tried a Watermelon based e-liquid before, you’ll know that the flavour is very difficult to describe, it’s usually sweet with a sort of washed out profile, somewhere between a realistic watermelon and one of those soft jelly watermelon sweets you can buy, you know, the one’s with sugar all over them.

It must be a very difficult flavour to nail in concentrated form, because I’m yet to come across an actual realistic watermelon flavour, or perhaps it simply doesn’t project as well as I’d like in vape form.

This is a straight up candy watermelon, sweet, with concentrated soft jelly watermelon candy tones throughout.

Individual Notes

There really isn’t a lot to write about here, since this is very much a one flavour profile. Watermelon candy. It is a very artificial watermelon flavour, with a rounded out bottom end, and a sweeter not quite sharp higher note. Texture-wise, this runs a gamut from syrupy to a slightly chalky feel on the exhale, further pushing the artificial watermelon profile. This is a watermelon candy through and through.

There is something else here also, a strawberry or some other fruit that helps lift the candy watermelon, with a little bit more of a syrupy feel. I can’t quite pin exactly what it is, but it gives this flavour a little more body.

Despite the name and the description implying that there is some cooling or menthol in this one, I’m not getting any at all. If it’s here, it is quite mellow and not really noticeable unfortunately. I would have thought it would be more noticeable being a ‘Crush’ profile.

Inhale & Exhale

As mentioned above, being that this really is a single flavour profile, it’s not going to change much across the inhale and exhale.

As the beginning of the inhale, the flavour hits hard and fast, and as you inhale further, sharpens up until it reaches that full Watermelon candy note at the top of the inhale getting sweeter as you go. Right at the top, you’ll notice things getting a little bit more syrupy, with a background note, that is is a little sharper with a deeper profile than the watermelon. This feels like another fruit added, in a small amount to help push the watermelon and give it a bit of a lift flavour-wise, and it does a great job, adding a little bit more depth to it.

As you exhale, that watermelon candy stays strong, and with you right through to the end, getting even sweeter with a distinct sugary sweet profile, that leaves you with a sugary after taste.

Final thoughts

The flavour impact gets straight down to business right from the beginning of the inhale, which is great, and that little something that strengthens things at the top of the inhale (it’s hard to tell, but feels like a hint of strawberry and apple), and provides a little bit of a deeper texture is a nice addition.

I did find myself getting a little bored of this one unfortunately, with no menthol in sight and with the sweetener giving me only a day out of a wick, being pretty much a single flavour profile, it all got old really quick.

Having said that, out of all of the watermelon centric flavour’s I’ve tried, this one is up there with the best, so if you’re a candy watermelon fan, you’ll get a kick out of this one. If you’re not, well, there’s plenty of other Mr Wicky flavours to choose from!

Where to Buy:

The entire Mr Wicky eliquid range can be purchased directly from the Vapoureyes Online Store, the Vape Traders website for wholesale, as well as any of their many stockists around the country.

Colour:

Clear

Aroma:

Candy Watermelon

Coil and wick damage:

This flavour will totally destroy your wick. I’ve been changing wicks at the end of each day vaping it, and I probably need to change them more often than that. Your wicks will turn brown, and the vape quality disappears the further your wicks deteriorate. This must be a really sweet mix!

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Texture:

Candy Watermelon

Steeping:

No steeping necessary.

Presentation:

I love Mr Wicky’s presentation. I received 60ml tinted gorilla bottles with child-proof and tamper proof caps, and needle tip dispenser.
The labels are fab, with their bright colours, pronounced sun burst and bold lettering. The name and company is front and centre, with all of the info you might need on the back. VG/PG ratio, bottle size, zero nicotine declaration, best before, warnings, ingredients, poison info and barcode.
Love the labels!

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
