e-Juice Review: Sweet Orange Sherbet from Mr Wicky

Righto, I’m back to the Mr Wicky reviews, and today I’ve got something super sweet for you.

If you haven’t heard of Mr Wicky, you’ve obviously been living under a rock, so come on, climb on out, and see what all the fuss is about.

Mr Wicky has been around for a while now, a few years in fact, starting out with a singular flavour, their ‘Splice‘ (pine/lime) flavour.

Since then, they’ve periodically released new flavours here and there, now with a total of 7 flavours, varying from fruity, to candy, right through to an iced coffee flavour!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Sweet Orange Sherbet” from Mr Wicky.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

Take a trip back in time with this orange sherbet.

The Review

Yep. That description leaves a little bit to be desired, but that’s where I come in! You’re going to have a few ideas floating around in your head about what type of flavour this really is.

Is it a fresh orange, with a bit of zing?
Is it like orange Tic-Tacs?
Is it like those Wizz Fizz powder’s really tangy and sugary sweet?
Or is it more like a fresh orange?

It’s a little bit of all of them to be quite honest. This orange is a total hybrid, and doesn’t really sit in any of those aforementioned categories, well, not precisely anyway.

A drop on the finger, and it tastes quite sweet, it has really artificial cordial like properties, just a little cleaner, and not so overbearing. It has a bit of an orange Tic-Tac profile to it too.

Sweet Orange Sherbet is an interesting blend of candy orange, fruity orange cordial with a little fizz on the tail end to pull it up even sweeter!

Individual Notes

Obviously there is Orange here. It’s quite a blend of various base oranges, ranging from candies, to fresh citrus, right through to a light orange cordial note. Mr Wicky have done quite a good job in choosing the mix of oranges that are used in this, it’s a fairly fresh blend, in comparison to other oranges out there that can be quite dull and lifeless.

The sherbet in here is super sweet, and has a familiar underlying tone to it, very similar to a sherbet powder, or an icing sugar.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I notice the orange straight away, and at this point it’s a little bit of a dialed back orange cordial. Not the horrible lemon and orange kind, the good kind that has quite a lot of artificial sweetness, actually if I remember rightly, it had almost far too much sweetness!

Anyway, as you continue on the inhale, right up to the top of it, expect things to change slightly, as the stronger and sweeter cordial concentrate profile falls back a little allowing a brighter more citrus orange to break free. This brighter citrus breaks things up a little and evens things out a little.

As you exhale, the orange like so many others, starts to wane, and lighten in flavour, with occasional hints of brighter orange candy biting through the middle, just to remind you that this is supposed to be an orange flavour, not just a sweet random candy.

You’ll also notice a much sweeter icing sugar or sherbet feel gradually work through, it gets stronger as the exhale continues, which knocks the orange back even more, complimenting the orange but also replacing it rather than adding extra flavour.

The end of the exhale is of light orange hard candy with a super sweet sherbet finish.

Final thoughts

Not a bad drop, it has all of the hallmarks of various orange notes, from fresh citrus, right through to candy orange. At times it can be a little washed out, but there are moments where that orange bites back with a light sharpness, and intensity so that you don’t forget which fruit you’re vaping on, which happens so often with orange flavours.

The sherbet is a nice addition, and it compliments the orange, I did notice it start to take over a little, as the sherbet intensified, the orange evened out and dropped in intensity. The Sherbet cancels out the orange a bit, but that is just the nature of sherbet due to it’s sugary sweetness.

I do wish that the orange was stronger, punchier, to really drive this home, and stand up against the sherbet a little more, but unfortunately it fell short. Like I mentioned earlier, it’s a really nice mix, it just doesn’t punch you in the face with flavour.

One thing that has to be mentioned, is the sweetener and damage to wicks. This is a coil killer, and will darken and deteriorate your wicks quite quickly. I’ve been changing my wicks out and dry burning once per day while vaping this one. Because of this the quality of the vape is not as great as it could be.

If you don’t mind changing wicks out, you’ll likely really enjoy this one, but if you’re on pre-made disposable coils, I’d be avoiding this one.

Where to Buy:

The entire Mr Wicky eliquid range can be purchased directly from the Vapoureyes Online Store, the Vape Traders website for wholesale, as well as any of their many stockists around the country.

Colour:

Clear

Aroma:

Orange

Coil and wick damage:

This flavour will totally destroy your wick. I’ve been changing wicks at the end of each day vaping it, and I probably need to change them more often than that. Your wicks will turn brown, and the vape quality disappears the further your wicks deteriorate. This must be a really sweet mix!

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Texture:

Tangy Orange

Steeping:

No steeping necessary.

Presentation:

I love Mr Wicky’s presentation. I received 60ml tinted gorilla bottles with child-proof and tamper proof caps, and needle tip dispenser.
The labels are fab, with their bright colours, pronounced sun burst and bold lettering. The name and company is front and centre, with all of the info you might need on the back. VG/PG ratio, bottle size, zero nicotine declaration, best before, warnings, ingredients, poison info and barcode.
Love the labels!

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
