e-Juice Review: HUBZ by Wild Kraken

It’s been a while since I took delivery of the latest of the Wild Kraken range of e-liquids, a long while, so it’s about time I got around to writing the next few reviews!

This particular flavour took the Australian vape scene by storm when it was first released, and has been a crowd favourite ever since, often described as the ‘best’ grape ‘Hubba Bubba’ flavour available!

As a big fan of this flavour base, I can attest to the many that have tried and failed in this area. Grape bubble-gum is not an easy flavour to mimic, often you’ll end up with a very aromatic perfume or at worst, something that is so sickly sweet you can’t vape it for more than an hour.

Anyway, now that I’ve crushed your mixing hopes and dreams, lets get on with the review!!

Specifications:

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll instantly get an accurate depiction of what is to come, just a little dialled back. Both the Grape and the Bubble-gum make an appearance early on, presenting exactly as they do further on in the vape, with the only exception being the intensity of the flavour.

Despite the intensity being light on the inhale, the nuances of both flavours come through clearly, with the grape offering a nice sweet, yet, slightly candy finish and the bubble-gum a touch fruity, with a light dryness and thick texture.

As the inhale continues, the bubble-gum strengthens against the grape, creating a thicker texture, with a slightly fruity background. Like the ‘to and fro’ of two fighters pushing for dominance the grape picks up again at the top of the inhale, making sure that it comes across nice and juicy, now also blending unmistakeable light tones of blackcurrant.

The fight doesn’t stop there however, and just as you begin to get used to the lovely grape/blackcurrant blend, things get shaken up again! About halfway through the exhale, that lighter, sweet, almost fruity bubble-gum jumps back in the ring with a vengeance pushing it’s way forward to make sure that it’s front and centre with the grape fighting for your attention all the way until the end of the vape.

My Thoughts

The fans aren’t wrong on this one, it is a fine example of what a Grape Hubba Bubba should be. A lovely sweet candy grape/blackcurrant combination, with an undertone of squishy bubble-gum to round it out.

I particularly like how both flavours tend to fight for dominance, warring in and out of play as the inhale and exhale progresses, a nice little touch.

I did notice that the bubble-gum can come across a little dry at times, which incidentally is precisely what gives it the genuine bubble-gum texture (so not a bad thing), but the grape also doesn’t quite compensate for it completely, so you can be left thinking that this flavour is a little dry on the exhale.
With that said, just a little more juiciness to the grape/blackcurrant and this flavour would seriously be pushing my all time high review scores.
That is me being very very picky by the way, and for all intents and purposes, this flavour is a bang on Grape Hubba Bubba.

Seriously Wild Kraken, take a bow, you’ve done a brilliant job with this.
