eJuice Review 367: Custardtopia by Redback Vapery

Redback Vapery certainly have given me a few flavours to really look forward to. All of them are great, I am sure, but there are 3 or 4 that caught my eye when I first opened their care package, and today’s juice is one of them!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Custardtopia” by Redback Vapery.

Flavour Description

Join us in the utopian world where custard rules. This stunningly smooth vape is a favourite for dessert lovers.

The Review:

I’ve actually only just read the description of this, and to see the word smooth mentioned there, just verifies what I am tasting. If there was one word to describe this custard, it is indeed ‘Smooth’.

Of course there is custard in there too! A sweet and lightly spiced vanilla custard, that seems to me to be not quite as heavy as other custards.

I’d best describe “Custardtopia” as being an unusually smooth, vanilla custard, lightly spiced, with a thick airated creaminess and soft silky tones.

Or I could just say it’s the smoothest of the smoothiest smoothes you’ll ever smoothly smooth over! 😀

Individual Notes

The custard here, as I mentioned before, really is smooth, it has a silkiness that is unparalleled, and the flavour intensity of this makes every vape just a pleasure.

There are some spices here, very low lying and taking a backseat to the custard, they are a little peppery and light cinnamonesque. One of the spices is obviously vanilla, there is a tonne of it here, which gives the vape that really silky feel.

The other spices I can’t quite pin point. The peppery note, feels like it comes from the vanilla or even a bavarian cream, its just a touch of bite to add a little bit of interest and definitely not over the top.

I suspect there is a little marshmallow in this flavour too, its just too light for the creams to not have a little marshmallow there.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is of course soft Vanilla spice, light to begin with and then joined by the other spices which add just that hint of contrast, creating some dimension.

On the exhale the spices get a little warmer, but not even close to out of hand, they blend brilliantly with the vanilla, creating a back note that makes a great prelude to the custard.

The custard appears gradually throughout the exhale, slowly rising in intensity, and showing off a light cream based custard rather than the usual over-flavoured caramelised kind. The custard smoothes in with the spices, diluting them as the custard strengthens, leaving a thick and creamy, yet lightly spiced silkiness for the end of the exhale.

Final thoughts

I’ve absolutely adored this flavour from the moment that I took my first vape. It’s unassuming, delicately balanced and just works.

I like the fact that Redback have not tried to over complicate it, and that light cream based really does a lot for the longevity of the mix. You’ll never get tired of this one!

PG/VG Ratio:

70%VG / 30%PG

Presentation:

Quite nice presentation here. I received 30ml stubby chubby gorilla bottles with childproof caps, and needle tip nozzles. Some of the bottles are clear, others are smokey grey clear with the Redback Vapery label firmly affixed. The labels are white with splashes of colour, the liquid name, company logo, bottle size and vg/pg ratio. I would have like to see some warnings or standard ingredients list on here, the information on the labels is a little sparse.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
