Vapefly Kriemhild 2 Tank Review

Vapefly Kriemhild 2 Tank Review

There are a lot of tanks on the market these days, but there have been some real pearlers released lately.
In the past, tanks have had a bit of a stigma attached to them, being a little leaky, not easy to wick right or simply just not having the flavour of a rebuildable.

Let me tell you, in the last year that has all changed. The latest bout of tanks we’ve seen released over the last year or so have been nothing but amazing, in not only flavour, but also addressing that old issue of e-liquid seeping through airflow holes, or leaks in general. Virtually every single tank I’ve taken a look at lately, has been completely leak free, and belts the flavour out.

This tank is no different. I am not often impressed by tanks, but this one has stolen my heart.

Let’s check out Vapefly’s Kriemhild 2 Tank!

Big thanks goes to Vapefly, who sent this out for the purposes of review!

General Info

The Kriemhild 2 is Vapefly’s latest release and upgrade from their original Kriemhild Tank, which I reviewed a while back. The original was great so I’m not sure what has made Vapefly revisit it, but I’m glad they did because they’ve outdone themselves this time!

The Kriemhild 2 sees simplicity and functionality being the main focus, with Vapefly really dialling in to users who do not wish their vaping experience to be too complicated, all the while providing them with a fantastic vape.

Made from Stainless Steel, it comes in 3 different colours (SS, Black, Gunmetal) and two different variations (Peace & War). While the War version has not been released yet, it sees a smaller glass section with a larger upper deck than the available ‘Peace’ version, very similar in looks to the original Kriemhild tank, presumably aimed at those who might need to use it in a rough working environment.

This mesh tank, uses Vapefly’s new Duplex mesh coils, and puts out some fantastic flavour. With a 4/5ml e-liquid capacity (dependant on which glass piece you use, straight or bubble), upper wattage range of around 60 Watts, bottom airflow for a dense through coil airflow, plug and play coils, and an 810 swap-able drip tip, Vapefly are keeping things simple and providing a tank that simply works.

Vapefly have also been kind enough to provide a 510 drip tip adapter, so all in all, you get x2 different 810 drip tips with the ability to put your own 510 drip tips on top if you so wish.

So easy to use

On many devices, whether they be tanks, RDA’s, or even Mods themselves, form and function don’t like to mix, and you’ll often find styling choices are made without thinking about their effect on usability, or function.

A perfect example is sliding fill caps. They’re fantastic for ease of use, and they are really fast to fill by just sliding the top cap back a little and letting the juice flow, but there are downsides to this too. Vacuum of the tank might drop and in turn cause leaking, or the mechanism becomes stuck making this type of design ‘easy on paper’, but not so great when it comes to using it in real life.

The Kriemhild 2 doesn’t have any of these. Vapefly have gone to town on this tank to make sure everything is machined to perfection, and doing what ‘needs’ to be done is super simple, using nothing but tried and true, and comprehensively tested functions that simply work.

From the 1/4 turn top cap, with double seal, to the plug and play coils, everything is machined to perfection, fits wonderfully, and most importantly, comes together with precision, making sure your tank is sealed against leakage as well as making sure your use of it is as efficient as possible.

Filling

I love the fill on this tank. I’m a long time supporter of twist or screw caps for tanks, due to always having issues with slide tops, or side fills. Vapefly have not only catered for a more effective 1/4 turn removeable cap, but they’ve also double sealed it too, with the top cap seal covering not only just the fill ports, but also sealing the inner tube and the outer ring to make sure everything is air tight.

Inside the top of the tank is a membrane that also helps with sealing, with small cuts made to allow you to push your e-liquid bottle nozzle through to fill. So many have tried to do this before, but they really haven’t nailed it. Vapefly have done an exceptional job here.

Airflow

The airflow isn’t anything new, in fact we’ve seen it a few times before. The adjustment is made via the airflow adjustment ring at the bottom that reveals two large airflow slots that you can line up to get your perfect airflow.
The airflow adjustment ring slides around nicely, with just enough resistance, giving you anywhere between a really open DTL airflow right down to a tight MTL draw if you so wish. (You may not want to vape this MTL style with these coils though!)

Coils

Welcome to the Freecore K Series coil, created specifically for the Kriemhild 2, and using Vapefly’s new Duplex Mesh coils. Vapefly have patented the mesh used inside of these coils, with an extra leg in there to allow for faster ramp up of power, it gives you more flavour, and quicker.

You’ll get two coils in the pack, one with the new Duplex mesh, and the other with standard mesh. Both of these coils are fantastic, providing some outstanding flavour. I’ve found that they are both fairly comparable when used in their recommended wattage zones, but the new Duplex coil can be pushed a little harder.

  • FreeCore K-1 Duplex Kanthal Mesh coil – 0.2ohm (45-60W)
Excellent flavour and dense vape right up to 60 Watts. The vape is a little cool, but you can push these coils a little higher and they will still perform great. 70 Watts will get you a warmer vape without any dry hits.
  • FreeCore K-2 0.3ohm Kanthal Mesh Coil – 0.3ohm (40-55W)
Excellent flavour and dense vape up to 55 Watts. You don’t want to push this coil too hard, as it may hotspot, but you should be able to push it a few Watts over recommended wattage for a warmer vape also. It won’t wick and perform as well as the new Duplex coil however.

Any Leaks?

None, not at all. I’ve experienced the slightest gurgle on inhale after refilling every so often, but a quick vape and it’s back to normal.

Pros:

  • No leaking
  • Easy fill method
  • Fantastic vape
  • Excellent flavour
  • Quality machining
  • Large e-liquid capacity
  • 810 plus 510 drip tip adapter included

Cons:

  • E-liquid capacity could be bigger for the size

Where to Buy:

You will be able to purchase the Vapefly Kriemhild 2 Tank directly through Vapoureyes, shortly here in Australia. Currently it’s selling for about $50 AUD overseas which is a pretty reasonable price considering the quality of this tank, so expect it to be very similar over here when they become available!

Conclusion

A very good tank indeed. I’m pleased to announce that I’m no longer a tank hater. I’ve been truly impressed with the last few tanks that I’ve tried, including this one, which is right at the top of that list.

Vapefly may not have re-invented the wheel with their latest Tank, but they sure have refined it into a super, easy to use piece of hardware, that does it’s job, and does it really well.

In all seriousness, the Kriemhild 2 is a really well refined product, with every feature honed to be not only the best that it can be, but straight forward to use. There are no compromises here. This tank is the real deal, and Vapefly can be proud to know that they’ve brought out something so well crafted, full of flavour and an absolute pleasure to use.

Well done Vapefly!
