Vapefly Kriemhild Sub-Ohm Tank Review

Vapefly Kriemhild Sub-Ohm Tank Review

Welcome back you lot, now it’s not often that I review a Sub-Ohm tank, lately it’s been POD mods, PODs and a few Mods here and there, but guess what I ‘ve got for you today!

Yep, you guessed it, a sub-ohm tank, and what a tank it is! I don’t do things by halves and so it seems, either does Vapefly. I’ve been giving this one a good run for the last few weeks (my first Vapefly piece of hardware actually), and it’s impressed me!

Today I’m going to be showing you the Vapefly ‘Kriemhild’ Sub-Ohm Tank!

A big thank-you to Vapefly for sending this in to me for review.

First Impressions

This is no ordinary tank, and no ordinary company that has produced it!
Vapefly are a company based out of China, nothing out of the ordinary there, but what is different is the German 103 team that they work with through You Tuber “dampfwolke7”, whom assist them with ideas and development for the German market.

This is where the beauty of German engineering comes in, and you can simply see it in everything that they touch, including the Kriemhild Tank.

From the quality finish to the fitment and machining, everything about this tank screams quality, even the over engineering of the lift and slide fill section at the top of the tank tells you that this was designed to impress.

General Looks and Style

As mentioned earlier, this tank screams quality, from the finish to the functionality, it’s clearly been designed from the ground up, and to follow on from Vapefly’s successful RTA the Brunhilde.

Up top of this completely Stainless Steel tank, you’ve got a detachable Delrin drip tip which is tapered to be really comfortable, which it is. If you don’t like it you can change it out for your favourite 810 drip tip though, as those are compatible.

Your fill port is below it, using a lift and slide action that gives a real spring loaded feel in the hand, and just feels absolutely quality compared to other lift and slide caps.

The general tank section comes next holding your massive 5mls of e-liquid, it’s mostly hidden with a small window toward the bottom where you can check if you’re nearly out of juice.

Under that are the huge 15 x 2.1 mm cyclops airflow inlets, that are adjustable using the ring adjustment.

And under it all is the gold plated pin and 510 connection to throw this onto any base you like.

Airflow

The airflow here is huge, the two cyclops style airflow inlets are adjusted smoothly, with one slot on either side of the tank, giving you a pretty wide range of airflow options, from right down restricted, to big and open for Direct to Lung users. Obviously the large coils have this tank leaning toward vapers that like large airflow and clouds, but you can dial the airflow down if you like it more restricted.

I have noticed, that the smaller you make the airflow, the more this tank whistles. It’s not a high pitch annoying whistle, but it can be quite loud.
Airflow is best set to halfway to fully open.

The adjustment ring spins around smoothly with a little restriction, it’s not loose at all, it’s just another part of this tank that adds to the quality feel.

Filling

Filling is really simple. Find the arrow above the “Kriemhild” logo, lift the top section and slide the entire thing away from the arrow. A really large kidney shaped fill port is revealed that gives you all the room in the world to fill, even with a 120ml bottle. Get comfortable because it’s going to take you a little bit to fill this 5ml tank 😉

When done, just slide the top back over and you’re done, the cap will snap back into place with a satisfying click and you’re all sealed and ready to go.

The movement of this lift and slide is really nice too. Just like the adjustable airflow ring, the movement of it also adds to the quality feel of the entire device.

The Coils

If you hadn’t noticed, the coils for the Kriemhild are absolutely massive! With the tank you’ll get 2 coils. A triple mesh coil that runs at 0.15 ohms and a single mesh coil running at 0.2 ohms. Both have a pretty big airflow due to the size of them, with the triple coil having a little less than the other.

I’ve been using the single mesh coil for the last week or so and it’s been ok, a little lacking in flavour, but it does sing at quite a high wattage. I’ve only just jumped onto the triple mesh coil, and this has a much more condensed flavour than the first, a little less of an open airflow, but still plenty to blow the clouds with! This is definitely built for vapers that like to run at higher wattages!

One thing I’ve noticed about the coils and tank in general, is that it/they are/is a huge e-liquid guzzler. This thing chews through the juice, so that 5ml e-liquid capacity is definitely needed!

Anti Leak Coil changing

Another impressive little feature of the Kriemhild is it’s anti-leak shutters that are in the chimney. These allow you to remove a coil even if the tank is still filled with juice. Looking at the photos above you can see it action, as you pull the coil out, the little shutters close off the juice holes in the chimney allowing you to remove the coil without spilling a drop.

A fantastic feature to have, specially on such a large capacity tank!

Any Leaks?

No. No real leaks here, I do get a little seepage from the top ‘lift-slide’ fill cap, and at times from the bottom base, where the actual tank screws onto the base. I’m putting this down to o-rings however as I’ve pulled this completely apart a few times and likely have introduced a little seepage from doing that. Otherwise this is a really clean tank with no leaking issues at all.

Pros:

  • Great liquid capacity
  • High Wattage vaping
  • Good flavour
  • Nice quality feel to everything
  • Machining = A1
  • Big airflow
  • Anti-leak coil changes

Cons:

  • Whistle on airflow when closing it right down
  • Only ‘good’ flavour

Where to Buy:

You can pick up the Kriemhild Sub-Ohm tank from many of the vendors that stock Vapefly products, I’ll update this review with a few stores a little later. It currently retails for around $50-$60AUD or $50 USD, which is a good price for something of this quality level.

Conclusion

All in all this is a great quality tank, that puts out a pretty good vape.
It’s definitely designed for cloud-chasers who like big builds, big wattage and big airflow, so those who like a restricted vape might be a little disappointed.

There are way more pro’s than con’s with the only real negatives I found were the whistle in the airflow when tightening up the airflow for more restriction, and the flavour wasn’t ‘spectacular’. But that’s exactly what you can expect from a big tank built for big air and vapour.

The build quality is exceptional, and further enriches the old “German Engineering” being of top quality. I particularly loved the shutters that were added to provide a leak free coil change, and also the general quality feel of the tank, from the smooth operation of the airflow control ring, to the techy/mechanical feel of the “lift and slide” mechanism for filling with eliquid.

I’m pretty pleased to say, I’ve enjoyed using this for the last week or so, and am really looking forward to trying Vapefly’s other products!

Great work guys!
