e-Juice Review: Monstar Bee from Secret Bunker Vapour

e-Juice Review: Monstar Bee from Secret Bunker Vapour

Welcome to a new week, and that means, a new e-liquid range!
This week, I’ll be taking a look at some of the newcomers to Secret Bunker Vapour’s energy drink range.

This range, originally launched with “Red Bee” and “Aqua Bee” a few years ago, but since then, a few other energy drinks have been added to the fray!

With flavours that mimic “Monster”, “Mother”, and “Rockstar”, Secret Bunker really have nailed this niche, and if their original flavours are anything to go by, they’ve done so incredibly well!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Monstar Bee” from Secret Bunker Vapour’s energy drink range.

(This e-liquid was supplied by Secret Bunker Vapour for review. )

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Sick of feeling “normal” ? Well this will get you transformed into a wild Monster!
Syrupy green apple soda that is transformed with a young watermelon but held together with a hint of Taurine.

The Review

If you haven’t put two and two together, this flavour is supposed to represent the original “Monster” energy drink. Monster, just like most energy drinks is sharp, tart, and quite a bright flavour, this is done so that the taurine flavour which is quite bitter and tart, can blend in a lot better.
Monster, in particular, is very much an apple based flavour, a bright, sharp, green or tart apple. A fruit used purposely, to hide the Taurine, and Vitamin C flavours that the energy drink has in it’s ingredients.

And that is exactly what “Monstar Bee” is also.

Super close to the real thing, “Monstar Bee” stays true to “Monster’s” roots, with it’s citric acid feel, and tart green apple.

Individual Notes

The green apple here is obvious, perhaps not straight away, but after vaping this flavour for a while, you’ll soon realise that Green Apple makes up the majority of this one. On lower powered devices it’s not as sharp, and dulls out a little, but on a higher wattage device, you’ll get all of those tart, apple notes in all of their glory. Bright, tart and sweet.

There is, apparently, some Watermelon here! I’ll be honest, I didn’t pick that up. I know now that the watermelon is what causes a slight dullness, an earthiness to this right at the back of the tongue. It’s blended in there really well, and plays out as a very light background flavour, altering the green apple just a little to help mimic that signature energy drink feel.
To me, it imparts a little bit of a bubblegum note at times also.

According to the description, this also has Taurine, I don’t think I’ve ever come across a Taurine concentrate, so I am assuming there is a lot going on in here to get that flavour on par.

Inhale & Exhale

There’s not a huge difference with this flavour across the inhale and exhale. There is a shift in flavour intensity, as well as some change in dominant notes, but no real profile changes.

On inhale, I instantly notice the Green apple, it has a decent intensity at this point, but of course dialed back a little, it’s sharp, with a sweet tartness to it. I also notice some of the bitterness from the energy drink blend, and a lighter dull note which I am assuming to be the watermelon.

As the inhale progresses, the intensity increases, with the apple getting brighter, sweeter and even tarter. There is quite the bite to it, and now that the energy drink notes are coming through also, this has quite a genuine “Monster” feel to it.

As I exhale, the apple winds down a little, and that light dullness of the watermelon strengthens by the smallest dose. With it also comes a bubblegum note, with the taurine and energy drink notes keeping at an even keel. The exhale seems to stay very much on this point all the way through, with no real shift or change.

Final thoughts

It’s interesting, as while I’m not really an energy drink fan, trying these different flavours, has given me a new appreciation of the flavours, or the differences between them all.

Energy drinks seem to not just rely on flavours, but also textures and the variances between the different tarty taurine levels in all of them.

Secret Bunker, as always, you’ve knocked this one out of the park and really nailed the specific flavour combination that makes “Monster”.

Almost full marks, as obviously vaping the flavour isn’t going to be the same as drinking it, but I highly recommend this for anyone into energy drinks.

If “Monster” is your bag, then you’ve got to grab a bottle of this, you’re going to love it!

Where to Buy:

The entire Secret Bunker Vapour range can be purchased directly from the Secret Bunker Vapour online store or through any of their other stockists around the country.

Colour:

Clear (Ive noticed a slight purple/blue tinge to this one)

Aroma:

Apple

Coil and wick damage:

Not a lot of damage to wicks or coils here, I’m getting minimal gunking which I’m surprised about, I expected more, considering how sweet these flavours are.

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Texture:

Tangy apple

Steeping:

No need to steep this one.

Presentation:

Wonderful presentation from Secret Bunker Vapour. Their new branding is eye-catching and very professional.

I received 60ml tinted chubby gorilla bottles with light blue caps. They have the usual child-proof caps and tamper proof seals, with a needle dispenser to drip your liquid.

The labels are wonderful, with shiny text and artifacts, the general feel of the design is very cool, with patterned background, large blue coloured shapes with the flavour name and bar at the bottom colour coded to the flavour.

All of the information you might need is here, including the brand, and name of the flavour front and centre, Bottle size, warnings, Ingredients, PG/VG ratio, website url, and social media icons.

Secret Bunker Vapour also put ‘authentication’ stickers on their bottles too, with batch number, so if ever you get a bad batch (you probably never will), they can trace it back to a specific mix. It’s a really nice touch!

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod/variable wattage mod.
Haku Xeta, in Billet Box, 0.3 stainless single coil, running about 30Watts on temperature mode.
