Hellvape Hell200 Kit Review

Hellvape Hell200 Kit Review

Full kit alert! That’s right, todays review is of a full kit! Lately there have been a lot of tanks, mods, pods, and everything in-between, but I’m breaking the mould a little and have been putting this fantastic kit through it’s paces for the last few weeks.

You’ve likely seen reviews of this one rolling in from other reviewers already, so I’m here to add my two cents worth to the mix!

Let’s check out Hellvapes new Hell200 kit!

Big thanks goes to Vaporstate and of course Hellvape, who sent this out for the purposes of review!

General Info

The Hellvape Hell200 kit is an excellent pairing of their latest 200W dual battery device, with their latest version of their Top Loading Coil tank, the TLC. Yep, that’s x2 new products right there folks and boy are they something to talk about!
It’s not often you’ll come across a mod shaped like this. Reminisce of the old-school Wismec Reuleaux, Hellvape have taken the challenge of creating a device for BIG atomizers.

This is one for those of you who love high wattage devices!!!

The Hell200 Mod

Reminisce in shape to Wismec’s Reuleaux dual battery device from eons ago, the Hellvape Hell200 mod is everything the Reuleaux was and way way more. Made from Aircraft grade aluminium, this thing is super lightweight, coming in at an impressively featherlight 86 grams.
It’s quite small too, 80mm x 43mm x 35mm makes this a super tiny dual battery device, that will fit most of your larger RDA’s and tanks on top, allowing for up to around the 29mm mark before any overhand at the front.
You thought this had the making of a great mod already, well believe it or not, it can fire up to 200 Watts also! That’s 3 ticks already from me, what else can we expect?

Up top, you get a flush mounted 510 connection, with gold plated, spring loaded pin, and plenty of room for activities.
The front face is your typical setup, large fire button up top, large 0.96 inch colour screen, with operation buttons below it, as well as a USB Type C charging port falling to the lower edge.
Underneath is your dual 18650 battery bay door, which is a spring loaded swing door with latch to hold it all together, yep more gold plating inside there too. It seems pretty robust to me, and you can actually close the door with a nice little click instead of having to hold it closed, and flick the latch across like many other devices.
Another nice thing about the battery door, is the vent holes that Hellvape have included. I don’t remember the last time I saw a company do this, but kudos to them for going above and beyond to look after our faces 😉

The design of the mod is minimalist, with no branding except for underneath on the battery door where you’ll really have to look for the “Powered by Hellvape” line of text.
It’s triangular shape feels really nice in the hand and the finish of the device is superb, there’s even two narrow grooves on the back to provide a little bit of grip, and to know which way around you are holding it. (clever)

The chip in the Hell200, is one of Hellvape’s signature chips with 7 different operating modes and 6 protection features.

Operating modes: Power, TC-Ni, TC-Ti, TC-SS, TC-TCR, VPC, and Bypass.
Safety protections: Overcharge, Over-discharge, Short-circuit, Reverse Polarity, Over-heat, and 10 second cutoff protection.

Here’s a quick run down on how to use the Hell200

  • Pressing the fire button x5 fast switches the device on and off
  • To lock and unlock the wattage buttons press the +/- buttons together
  • Clear the puff count in any mode (except VPC) press the fire button x3 fast, press the fire button to select the P setting and press the – button to clear the puff count
  • To higher or lower the screen brightness press the fire button along with either of the +/- buttons
  • To enter the mode settings press the fire button x3 press either +/- to choose the setting required and press fire.

Choose from 7 output modes

  • Power mode (Variable Wattage): 5-200W in 0.5W increments
  • Temperature control modes: SS, TI, NI, TCR ~ 200°f to 650°f  (100°c to 345°c)
  • VPC (Variable Power Curve) mode: press the fire button x3, use +/- press the fire button to select P1/P2/P3 or P4 use +/- to adjust the wattage fire button to confirm
  • Bypass mode (we all know what this does, makes it almost a mech.)

The TLC Tank

If you never saw the original “Wirice Launcher” tank, it was totally unique, something that I’ve never seen before, with it’s top loading coil system, that worked really really well. I’m actually surprised that it didn’t get more traction, as it was a great tank with some pretty good coils.
Anyway, the TLC tank (Top Loading Coil) is basically the Launcher V2. A slightly different shape, taking different coils, but very much the same concept.

Being 25mm in diameter with upto 6.5ml e-liquid capacity is a pretty impressive rap sheet for this little tank, but there’s more of course, a few obvious features like the 3 point cyclops airflow holes, and quarter turn fill cap, but one super cool, and often overlooked feature that shows that Hellvape’s design team have a wonderful eye for detail.
I’m of course talking about the spring loaded e-liquid cutoff.
You’ll see my description of the top loaded coil below, but part of that is the e-liquid cut-off that springs into action as soon as you unscrew the coil lock, making sure that even if you have a full tank of juice, you’re not going to get it everywhere. You can confidently change coils on the go, and ‘at any time’ without needing to vape the tank down to empty to prevent spillage. Wonderful!

The Unique Coil system

The Top Loading Coil system of the TLC tank works via the drip tip chimney. Unscrewing this chimney activates the e-liquid cut-off valve, and allows you to simply tip the tank upside down letting the old coil fall out, with no e-liquid loss or spills. You can then drop another coil in, insert the chimney, screw it down and you’re done.
It works flawlessly, and is the perfect system for those who don’t like to muck around with coil changes.

Filling the tank

There always needs to be a con, and while this is not a huge deal, it’s pretty much the only negative that I’ve found with the Hell200 kit. In particular, filling the TLC tank, requires you to remove top 1/4 turn fill cap. That’s not a problem, but you will find when filling using larger bottles, that you’ll also need to remove the drip tip for a confident fill.
You can do it without removing the drip tip, but your eliquid nozzle will only just reach the fill port, leaving you needing a very steady hand to make sure there is no spillage.
I understand the problem, the chimney needs to have enough meat on it to allow a user to unscrew the top loading coil lock, unfortunately it just gets in the way, and has become a bit of an annoyance for me.

Otherwise the two large kidney fill ports are super efficient, and you can fill this tank up really quickly. Be careful, don’t lose your drip tip!!

Any Leaks?

None. Hellvape have cleverly placed a catch cup in the base, and because of this it minimises any seepage from the coil out of the airflow inlets. If you leave the tank sitting for a few days, you will get the usual gurgle when first firing it, and if you tip it over on it’s side you may get a few drops come out of the airflow holes, but a periodic cleaning of the catch cup in the base is all that is needed to keep things nice and clean.

Pros:

  • Big boy mod suitable for large tanks and RDAs
  • Plenty of options and modes
  • All the protections you could need
  • TLC tank is innovative
  • Lightweight, sleek and exceptional build quality

Cons:

  • May need to remove drip tip to fill

Where to Buy:

As always with Hellvape’s stuff, you can pick the Hell200 kit up through their Australian partner, Vaporstate. The Hell200 Kit retails for around the $170 AUD mark, a little more expensive than your usual kit, but this is after all a high end device made from aerospace aluminium. Go check them out now.

Conclusion

What a pair. This is actually quite a great pairing, sure the TLC coils won’t push you up to 200 Watts, but it is an outstanding tank, full of innovation and good looks.
The mod is superb, with everything you could ever want in a 200W device. A large top surface area, so that you can fit your large RDA’s and tanks, intuitive interface, lightweight and resilient, it has it all.
As mentioned earlier, the only real negative I’ve had with this is needing to remove the drip tip to fill, but if that’s the only negative, it makes this kit a really great setup to be had.
What a great kit, excellent work Hellvape.
