General Info

The latest of the Dead Rabbit range, the M RTA is a collaboration between Hellvape and Vapers Brazil. This time around, Hellvape have tackled the trials and tribulations of creating a Mesh RTA! And they’ve done a pretty great job!

Coming in at 25x45mm in size, the M RTA is short and stumpy with a 3/5mm e-liquid capacity depending on which of the glass tubes you decide to use. It has some nice clean lines to it, is a great looking tank, with indents to aid in removing the top and bottom sections, and some fine knurling around the airflow control for better grip.
You’ll notice the Dead rabbit logo on one side of the chimney, and the Vapers Brazil logo on the other.
I received the Matte Stainless Steel colour which has a really nice finish for a masculine look.

The Hellvape Dead Rabbit M RTA has all of the features you could ever want for a mesh RTA. 810 drip tip, top fill, top leak proof airflow, condensed chamber, cyclops style adjustable airflow, and is, as always, built tough, with immaculate machining.

Top Cap

Hellvape are the masters of top cap design, and their 1/4 – 1/2 turn top caps always seal wonderfully, and perform functionally for a no-mess-no-fuss re-fill. The design of their fill ports are my favourite too, with two large kidney shaped fill ports under the fill cap, as well as a leak proof ring around the center airflow hole, there purely to make sure you can fill your tank up as much as possible without the e-liquid bubbling up and over the sides of the tank. Genius!

Airflow

Tried and true, Hellvape have gone with large cyclops style airflow slots for the M RTA, something you’ll find on a lot of their tanks. The adjustment ring is finely knurled for grip, allowing you to get almost any amount of airflow you could ever need. The ring has stoppers on minimum and maximum airflow settings so you can adjust it easily without looking.

The Base/Deck/Chamber

The deck of the M RTA isn’t anything really new, most mesh decks are similar with the ceramic center wick support being spring mounted in order to push your cotton tighter into the mesh, with deck clamps off to each side to attach your mesh or coil should you choose to run coils rather than mesh.

I love pulling these things apart to see how they’re put together and exactly how they work, and I find it interesting to note how the airflow comes down from the top of the tank down the insides of the chimney and directly onto your mesh from above at a slight angle through 3 rows of small airholes on either side. Again not dis-similar to other mesh tanks already on the market, but looking at those tolerances, makes you appreciate how much design has gone into one of these atomizers.

You’ll notice there are two thin tabs on each side of the inner chimney, where your deck lines up and guides you as you tighten it up, ensuring that the airflow holes are always in the correct position.

The inner chamber is also conical, offering up superior flavour in a more condensed chamber. It looks like they’ve tried to get those inner airflow holes as much to the sides as possible for even better flavour too. Wonderful attention to detail.

Building

Building on the M RTA is just like any other mesh tank. Unscrew the post screws on each side, make an arc out of your mesh with the supplied tool. (make sure there are no folds in the mesh, make it nice and smooth) Clamp the posts down and dry fire quickly. No need to hold your power button down too long, as mesh heats up instantly.
Wicking is simple too. Whilst holding the center ceramic spring loaded wick support down, feed your wicking material through slowly and gently, until you’ve got it coming out the other side. Cut both sides at a diagonal and you’re good to go.

Any Leaks?

None, and I wasn’t expecting any by it’s very nature as a top airflow tank.

Pros:

  • Great looking tank
  • Excellent machining
  • Great flavour
  • Easy to build on

Cons:

  • Mesh – all mesh tanks run a little cold for my liking

Where to Buy:

You can pick up the Hellvape Dead Rabbit M RTA directly through Vaporstate, who are the Australian partner for Hellvape. They have them for around the $79 mark, which is a little pricey, but it is Hellvape, who are high end, so well worth the coin.

Conclusion

I’m a little conflicted with mesh. I think that the idea is great, but always find that you need to run them a little cooler than other RTA’s, this one included. They tend to go through more eliquid than other RTA’s also.

Having said that though, my time with the M RTA has been trouble free, and I do really appreciate Hellvape’s innovation and dedication to high quality machining and engineering.
In my opinion, they’ve done a wonderful job on this RTA, from presentation, to design, right through to functionality and ease of use. Even beginners will find setting up the M RTA relatively easy, and as a bonus it has excellent flavour!

I particularly like that Hellvape have not changed things up just for the sake of innovation, where things are true and proven, they’ve stuck with them, such as their bayonet top cap, anti drip fill ports, cyclops style adjustable airflow, and also their willingness to pay attention to detail, as an example, the airflow position over the mesh.

As always, Hellvape, great work!
