Hellvape HellBeast 2 Sub-Ohm Tank Review

Hellvape HellBeast 2 Sub-Ohm Tank Review

The name of this new tank from Hellvape is bold. So bold, that you’ll be expecting something that is benchmark product, something built tough, looks the goods and also hits like a truck, and the ‘Hellbeast 2’ I am happy to say, lives up to all of those things!

Let’s check out Hellvapes new Hellbeast 2 Sub Ohm Tank!

Big thanks goes to Vaporstate, who sent this out for the purposes of review!

General Info

Hellvape’s Hellbeast 2 Tank is the second iteration of the series, following on from the original Hellbeast tank back in 2019. It’s built tough out of stainless steel and pyrex, this beast screams masculinity with it’s knurled base and airflow ring, dark colouring, and horned Hellbeast logo on the chimney.

As most Hellvape fans already know, regardless of whether the name builds up any kind of expectation, you can expect great things from this. In fact I’ve found the Hellbeast 2 to be one of the most pleasant sub-ohm tanks I’ve ever used. It’s simple and it just works.

The Hellbeast 2 sports, top adjustable airflow, top filling, Hellvape’s anti-condensation 810 drip tip, as well as taking Hellvape’s newer P mesh coils, making this one sub-ohm tank a hell of a good contender for best sub-ohm tank of the year.

Top Cap

The top cap is a half turn, bayonet style cap, that has a smooth movement to it, allowing access to the 2 large kidney shaped fill ports beneath, that are insulated with a silicone/rubber gasket to prevent any leaking.

Below that is a buttery smooth airflow adjustment ring with knurling, exposing 2 large cyclops style airflow slots, with a delrin 810 drip tip that has an unusual cutout on the inside to limit condensation. Quite clever!

Airflow

The slotted airflow ring is knurled with diagonal lines going in the opposite direction of the base, which allows for easy dismantling, but also adding grip while adjusting the airflow. Not that you need it as the airflow control ring move quite smoothly, with little friction at all, but just enough to not be too loose.
The 2 large airflow inlets are a great size to get maximum airflow in, with stoppers in both directions, to make sure you can find those airflow limits even in dimly lit rooms.

The Base/Deck

The base and deck ‘or recess for the coil’ are nothing new, we’ve seen this design many times from other manufacturers as well as Hellvape themselves. It’s your basic push in coil, with screw on base with cup inside to catch any stray juice that may seep through the coil. It’s a wonderful design, and kudos to Hellvape seeing that and not feeling the need to change something that simply works.

The P Coils

The Hellbeast 2 uses Hellvapes new P coil format. It is designed specifically for the Hellbeast 2 and is a vertical Kanthal mesh build, designed for better, saturated flavour and big clouds. It’s designed for the 50-60 Watt range, with more cotton and airflow comes in from directly under the coil into the barrel and through the mesh for instant flavour, unlike others where the airflow is disrupted by needing to dogleg from both sides.

Filling

Too easy. Unscrew the top cap 1/2 a turn, remove and fill via the fill ports. A no-brainer.

Any Leaks?

None, and I wasn’t expecting any by it’s very nature as a top airflow tank.

Pros:

  • Nice smooth airflow
  • Great looking tank
  • Excellent capacity
  • Top airflow / Zero leakage
  • Flavoursome Coils
  • Love the knurling

Cons:

  • N/A

Where to Buy:

As always with Hellvape’s stuff, you can pick the Hellbeast 2 tank up through their Australian partner, Vaporstate. The Hellbeast 2 Sub Ohm Tank retails for around the $65 AUD mark, a little more expensive than your usual sub-ohm tank, but is one of those tanks you can just fill up and run with, knowing you won’t have any issues. Go check them out now.

Conclusion

Many will know that I’m not really a tank user, and definitely not a sub-ohm tank user! But using this tank over the last few weeks has had me rethinking things a little. Considering the wonderful, full saturated flavour, and the long length of time that these coils last, it might just end up in my ongoing rotation, among my RDA’s.

Hellvape have literally hit this out of the park, and I’m very impressed with it. From it’s streamlined, and knurled masculine looks to it’s wonderful performance, the Hellbeast 2 ticks all of the boxes and really is one of the best tanks I’ve used this year. As you can see from my minimal review, this tank simply works, and works well.
There are no sneaky new gimmicks or features here, just a well thought out tank that is designed and built to be used.

Love your work Hellvape, this one is a keeper!
