Lostvape UB Ultra & UB Max Pod Tank Review

Lostvape UB Ultra & UB Max Pod Tank Review

Many of you would agree, “Pod tanks” can be quite handy, when you have several similar setups, or prefer to use specific devices at home and for when out and about.
They allow you to quickly pop off the pod, and insert it either into a Pod Mod or onto another Pod tank on another device really quickly for a very fast transition between devices. You get to keep vaping that tasty flavour you’ve been enjoying without needing a second tank set up. I find this particularly useful with some of my more expensive devices that I’ll only use at home, I can quickly remove the pod, and put it into something else that I don’t mind getting dinged up and scratched for while I’m out of the house.
We’re used to seeing these tanks from Geekvape and Voopoo, but guess who just jumped into the Pod tank game!

Let’s take a look at Lostvape’s new UB Ultra and UB Max Pod Tanks!

Big thanks goes to VaporState and Lostvape for sending this for me for review!

General Info & Photos

Lostvape have released two separate UB Pod tanks, the UB Ultra Tank and the UB Max Tank. Each take different coils, UB Ultra and UB Max Coils.

Both pod tanks are stylish with a very straight forward design, I think they actually look pretty nice, and mimic the look of an RTA tank well with their straight sides, so will look great on most devices.

As you can see, the stainless steel bases are identical, with only the pods being slightly different due to taking different coils, so you can actually use the UB Ultra pod on the base of the UB Max and vice versa.

The stainless base is coated in a very solid satin black finish, with 3 point gold contact, leak well, pod recess and adjustable airflow ring around the outside. The 510 connection pin is quite solid and NOT spring loaded, so you can use this on a hybrid mechanical device should you choose to do so.

The main pod is made from PCTG plastic, and it’s really easy to see your e-liquid level even though there is quite a dark tint to it. Up top is a removable 810 drip tip, yep you read that right 810 drip tip! Normally these types of tanks will ship with a 510 but Lostvape have listened to the many vapers over the years and have used an 810 instead.
Underneath the Pod, there’s nothing overly new or done differently than other Pod tanks that are already out in the market, you have 3 magnets, a silicone fill plug and the center coil recess.

The Coils

Welcome to Lostvape’s new range of coils, the MAX Coil. Lostvape’s Ultra coils have been around for a little while already, shipping with the Q80 pod mod as well as a few other setups, but the MAX is super new and tailored for higher wattage vaping, with the 0.15 ohm coils capable of up to 120 watts. They have a lot more cotton in them and of course are a lot larger than their ‘Ultra’ sibling. From my experience with them, look forward to hearing a lot more about them as I’ve found them to be awesome subohm coils, pulling in a nice dense vape with big clouds and fantastic flavour! If you love your Ultra coils though, you’re all set, because the Lostvape UB Pod tanks come in both ‘Ultra’ and ‘Max’ variations.

Airflow

The airflow on the tank base is nothing we haven’t seen before, a long cyclops style airflow on each side, allowing you to fine tune your airflow as much as you need to. The knurling on the ring is a nice touch, and allows you to grip the airflow ring easily. Unfortunately there aren’t any stoppers at the open and closed positions, so you’ll have to eyeball it while adjusting it, which isn’t much of an issue, but they would have been a nice thing to have.

Filling

Just like the airflow, nothing we haven’t seen before. Lostvape have gone with the tried and true, silicone plug on the bottom with a decent sized fill port, to make filling a breeze. No problems here.

Any Leaks?

As with all pods with friction fit coils that have airflow coming in from below, you will get a little seepage over time as the coil breaks down, or if it’s left sitting for a long amount of time. Nothing overly concerning, and you can give it a wipe every so often if you like to keep things clean.

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Switchable pods
  • Great coil range
  • Excellent flavour
  • Easy to use
  • Coils are fantastic on battery life

Cons:

  • No stoppers at the open and closed points in the airflow adjustment
  • A little bit of seepage from the coils

Where to Buy:

You can pick up both the UB Ultra and UB Max Tanks through Lostvape’s Global partner Vaporstate for around the $30 AUD mark, which is a pretty good price. They also stock the full UB Ultra and UB Max coil range, so you’ll be able to pick up some replacement coils all in the one place. Check it out by clicking below.

Conclusion

These tanks have treated me very well over my review period. Both with each type of coil put out some pretty amazing flavour, and they tanks themselves are so very lightweight. It’s a night and day difference using these compared to a standard sub-ohm tank. You get all the flavour and quality of vape without feeling like you’re carrying a lot of weight around.

One thing I’ve noticed is my improvement in battery life. The UB Ultra and UB Max coils are exceptional on battery life, and I’ve found myself looking down at my full battery meter after an evening of vaping wondering how the hell I managed to not chew through at least half a battery in that time. I’d often take a spare battery with me for a full day out, now I just load up one full 21700 battery before I leave and it gets me through a full day.

There are a few con’s but most will likely call them very minor. The lack of stop for the airflow control ring can be a little annoying, forcing you to look down at your airflow to make sure it’s set correctly, and the small bit of seepage from the coils can also be a pain. The latter isn’t anything you’ll see fixed any time soon however, as that is just the nature of airflow below the coil in most subohm coils.

Overall, Lostvape have done a wonderful job on these two lightweight pod tanks, and I would highly recommend them for anyone looking to get this type of tank. They not only match but out perform other Pod tanks already on the market in my opinion!

Great work Lostvape!
