Lostvape Thelema Solo DNA100C Mod Review

Lostvape Thelema Solo DNA100C Mod Review

I have something a little special for you good folks today. It’s a little high end, and definitely aimed at advanced vapers who like to keep tabs on how their gear is performing.

As many of you know, Lostvape like to release a more expensive/high end device every so often, we’ve seen it before with their DNA powered Centaurus mod among many others. You know the drill, exceptional build quality, a more refined look and feel, and different materials that you cannot get on their base models.
Well they’ve done it again! This time taking their recently released Thelema Solo Mod, and fancying it up from it’s base model kit form to a high end powerhouse.

Let’s take a look at the Lostvape Thelema Solo DNA100C Mod!

Big thanks goes to VaporState and Lostvape for sending this for me for review! I know it’s easy to say, but I truly appreciate your support.

General Info & Photos

As always, Lostvape don’t disappoint with the packaging. Their black box with gold print and matt insert oozes prestige, and really looks the goods. You’ll get a little Thelema badge and all in the pack, which is a nice touch.

You might well know that Lostvape do have a Thelema Solo kit which is their base model shipped with a pod tank, using their own proprietary Quest 2.0 chipset. The one that we are looking at today is the upgraded version of that with Evolve’s DNA 100C chipset. A more refined device with super accurate temperature control and customizable interface, as well as premium styling of the heel that you won’t get with the base model.

The Body

The Thelema Solo 100C sizes up at 39 X 28.5 X 97.5mm which is not the smallest device in the world, its more a cut down version of their Thelema 250C, similar height and depth, just a smaller width since it only needs to cater to a single battery. It’s a C-Frame device which is wonderful (I love c-frames), so no hinges to latches to worry about, just a tight fitting panel that slides off to reveal your battery housing.

It’s of course made from Zinc Alloy as are most devices these days, and the design closely resembles the other Thelema offerings, the Q80 and the 250C being remarkably similar with their button shape, quarter panels and heel design.

Up top is a flush fit spring loaded, gold plated 510 to screw your atomizer onto, with lovely smooth threading and a nice depth to the pin. ( you should have any issues with tanks with shorter 510 threads )
On the front face you’ll find a familiar large fire button and 3 option button setup, as you would on most DNA devices, a 0.96′ screen and USB Type-C port.
The small ‘quarter panels’ are adorned with stainless hex screws and a real carbon fibre strip on each side, which looks fantastic with the black heel, but a little mismatched on the other offerings.
The base is blank since this is a C-Frame (no swing door here!) with just your run of the mill ‘CE’ statement, and a splash of Designed and Manufactured by Lostvape.

The heel of the device is a pretty solid zinc-alloy with magnets top and bottom, to make sure there is no rattle or movement when in the hand, the one I received is adorned with a replica snakeskin leather, that actually does look pretty real, even with the small raised areas where the scales seem to lift up a little. I have read that these are not available on the base model, only on this higher grade DNA100C model.

Chipset

There’s not a lot to write about here, but thought to add this section just to make readers aware that this is the DNA100C model and not the base model with Lostvapes Quest 2.0 chipset.
With the DNA chipset comes all of the standard features as well as the ability to plug it into Evolve’s software and customize almost every aspect of your vaping experience, from power curves, right down to battery drain levels, and customizable screens. Being a DNA chipset, if of course caters for highly accurate temperature control as well as Boost features and fast 3A charging.

Battery

The Thelema Solo DNA100C can take a single 21700 or 18650 (with the adapter) placing this as an ideal mod for those wanting to get the most battery life out of a smaller device. Being that it’s of a C-Frame design, there are no swinging doors or latches, just your sliding panel at the back that reveals the battery bay. Both terminals are gold plated and the top terminal is also spring loaded to aid in putting your batteries in.
The tolerances of this back panel are wonderful, with added magnets to keep the panel nice and solid, with no rattles or movement what-so-ever. If you do get a little movement, you can easily gently squeeze the C shaped panel to tighten it up a little more.

You’d normally charge with a standalone battery charger, but when you’re on the go, you can also quickly charge via the USB Type-C 3Amp charge port on the front of the device for a quick battery top up.

Pros:

  • Wonderful quality of build
  • Takes 21700 or 18650 battery
  • C-Frame design (big tick)
  • No rattles or movement in door
  • DNA100C chipset
  • Solid and comfortable feel in the hand

Cons:

  • None

Where to Buy:

As always the Lostvape Thelema Solo DNA100C Mod is available from Vaporstate for around the $200 AUD mark. Yes, it’s a little on the expensive side, but this is of course a high end device with a DNA chipset, so always worth the extra spend, and this is going to last you quite a long time.

Conclusion

It’s always a little difficult to review a DNA mod, as from and operating perspective, there isn’t anything different between the builds, no new features to mention or little quirks, they are just tried and true, proven devices.
Having said that, I am glad that Lostvape continue to produce DNA versions of their gear, it’s a nice touch, and also a lovely option to have, specially for those who like to customize their setup with themes, or those that like to have complete control over how their device behaves.

As for the build on the Thelema Solo, I am well impressed. This device is built tough, with excellent tolerances and a lovely modern design. At first I was a little sceptical of the snakeskin leather on the heel of the device I received, mainly due to the layers of scales and my concern that they might lift, but over time and having used it considerably, they have settled and the leather is holding up really well. It is a little strange to get used to a bunch of scales that feel as though they are lifting, but I’ve gotten used to it and now quite like it. It also gives you a little more grip and helps to avoid the device slipping out of your hands easily.

Lostvape, you’ve done a great job on this one, top marks, no con’s, a truly delightful device to use!
