eLiquid Review 502: Vibe – Blues from VapeCraft

eLiquid Review 502: Vibe – Blues from VapeCraft

Five flavours have gone by so quickly, and today, we’re onto the last of VapeCraft’s VIBE range of eliquids. All in all this range has been quite good, of course there has been a few standouts, but all of them make the cut and I’d easily recommended them. If you’re looking for something new to try, the VIBE range has a slew of flavours to wrap your lips around, and all of them hit the mark, and well reflect their individual flavour profiles.

Anyway enough prattling on, let’s get on with it!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Blues” from VapeCraft’s VIBE range.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“This decadent dessert will delight your taste buds with crisp apple and a delicious hint of cinnamon”

Flavor: Apple Pie with Cinnamon

The Review

This last flavour is a dessert, the only dessert in the range actually, and what better dessert profile to go for than an Apple Pie!

“Blues” from Vapecraft’s VIBE range isn’t quite the apple pie that you’d expect, sure this one does have the warm stewed apple feel to it, even that syrupy sweetness, but along with the additional cinnamon, I’m noticing that this vapes much more like an apple crumble than a pie.

I think its the sugary texture to the pastry, while there is pastry there, it is sweeter, and has less of a doughy pie base than it should and reflects a more caramelised sugar profile.

Individual Notes

The apple in this one is fairly realistic, more an apple flesh than with skin, which is to be expected, and quite sugary sweet, which suits as it is after all, supposed to be more of a stewed apple.

I believe there is a touch of caramel here too, it blends with the apple seamlessly, with a light burnt sugar note, helping to create that stewed apple feel.

There is also cinnamon here bridging the gap between apple filling and the pastry, it has the usual warm spiced feel and works great in this mix.

The pastry. Rather than a straight pastry, this feels more to me like a crumble, rather than a dense pie base, it’s missing those bready or doughy notes that you might expect, and is sweeter than most.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale begins with the apple, picture granny smith apples peeled, cored, and stewed. They’re sweet, a little syrupy, yet still retain the lightest touch of an acidic feel that apple usually does. With the syrupy stewed apple, is the faintest hint of caramel, noticeable by it’s trademark, burnt sugar note, blending with the apple syrup seamlessly.

As the inhale continues, the apple strengthens as does the caramel, and I begin to notice a touch of cinnamon join the frey. It’s only a light amount at this point and winds up toward the height of the inhale.

As I exhale, the apple, caramel, and cinnamon intensify even more, all evenly, and at the same pace, as a crumbly bakery note appears, softly at first and working it’s way into the mix progressively rather than with any impact. This pastry note isn’t doughy at all, instead, it’s very sweet, with a crumbly feel, more akin to what you will get with an apple crumble than an apple pie, quite sugary sweet than dense and bready.

The apple, caramel, and cinnamon begin to hold at this point not getting any more intense as the pastry strengthens to a point of being quite noticeable, but not overtaking any of the other flavours. This profile then flows right through until the end of the vape.

Final thoughts

Not a bad Apple Pie, Vapecraft have done a pretty good job of getting this profile to work, and the flavours all blend really well together, with various peak notes, supporting nuances, and a strong base.

If I were to change anything in this, it would be the pastry, or rename it to an apple crumble, because it feels a lot more like an apple crumble than an apple pie. A stronger graham cracker or doughy note would pull this out of crumble territory and restore it as an pie.

All in all, this is a very nice flavour, well blended, with quality ingredients, and does fall within it’s description quite well. It’s also not as in your face as many others, which makes this one of those flavours that you can vape all day without getting tired of it easily.

Great work guys!

Presentation:

Vapecraft always have quite good presentation, and this range is no different. I received 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottles, with child-proof and tamper proof seal, needle tip dispenser. The labels are vibrant, and colourful, with the addition of the vibe logo being in metallic print. Each label has flavour specific colouring, the vibe logo, nicotine warning, bottle size, and the rest is just really quite hard to read.

All of the information is here, it’s just not readable. After taking a photo with my camera phone, I enlarged the text and could read it without issue, but to the human eye? Nada. The unreadable text is mainly ingredients list and general warnings, so not a big deal to general users, but it might be something they should look at to ensure everything can be read.

Otherwise, these are some fairly well designed labels.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
