eLiquid Review 473: Tropical Feast from Stronghold Vapour

eLiquid Review 473: Tropical Feast from Stronghold Vapour

Ok guys, this week, I’ve got another Aussie juice range to review. This brand hails from Queensland. They’ve been around for almost a year now, which is probably about how long the poor things have been waiting to get to the front of my review queue!

Every single one of their flavours were designed to be all day vape material, which is awesome, and they only use the highest quality ingredients and Palm Oil free PG and VG.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Tropical Feast” from Stronghold Vapour.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

The definition of a tropical fruit juice. The refreshing tropical tastes of passion fruit, lychee, pineapple and mango are perfectly blended together to form a true to life tropical flavour explosion.

The Review

Fruit juice flavours are awesome, often very sweet, refreshing and full of flavour, they are great all year round, and can be almost as complex as desserts at times.

“Tropical Feast” is one of those complex fruit juices, loaded with Passionfruit and Pineapple, with background notes of mango and lychee.

You’ll be hard pressed to pick all of the individual flavours, this one acts more like a fruit cocktail, even measures of each to create that one complete fruit juice profile.

Individual Notes

The Pineapple is probably the most noticeable flavour here. It’s a sweeter pineapple than most, and doesn’t seem to give off that sour note that others do. It’s more of a ‘pineapple ring from a can’ note. Sweet, and a little syrupy, with a slight brightness, but not as much as a fresh pineapple would have.

The Passionfruit is the next fruit you’ll pick. A robust flavour, with a slight floral, a little bitey tartness to it, but acts as a great backup flavour to the pineapple.

The other two fruits that you’ll get from this flavour (you may not notice them) are lychee and mango. They both take a back seat to the pineapple and passionfruit, but do come to the surface from time to time. In particular, the lychee sort of washes over everything, coating it with it’s own sweetness. Always there, you just may not attribute it to the lychee.

The lychee is a brighter, sharper, sweet flavour, while the mango follows on from the pineapple, with quite a low, sweet syrupy and fleshy note.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll notice the sweetness from the fruits, in particular, the pineapple and mango syrupy notes seem to come through most at this stage. The fruits are lighter, less concentrated, leaving the inhale a lead up to the exhale.

Over to the exhale, I notice the intensity begin to ramp up particularly with the pineapple and mango, taking on a warmer, slightly overripe feel, thicker and stickier. As the exhale continues, you’ll notice a wash of lychee, light with a slight tartness, blend with the existing fruits, adding it’s unique sweetness to their mix. At times during the exhale you’ll also notice some passionfruit. I picked up on this one straight away, but many won’t. It has a slight floral feel to it, a little more robust than the lychee, but difficult to decipher, because it too is washed over with lychee. The bitterness can be interpreted as a side effect of the lychee, and pineapple’s tartness, so not always apparent.

The end of the vape is a delicate mix of all 4 fruits, with a smooth sweet vibe, and thick syrupy mouth feel.

Final thoughts

Overall a very nice juice, very well balanced, almost too well balanced!

I would have liked this to have a more dominant main flavour, not so full on as to take over the entire profile, but just dominant enough to be the primary note, with the others filling in the background as complimentaries. This is absolutely not a problem with the flavour at all, just an opinion. I find that having very even levels of intensity across flavours, can lead to a flatter, and less punchy flavour.

As it stands, this is a really nice fruit juice flavour, and the profile has stayed true to it’s roots, with every nuance blended delicately in order to create the one blended fruit juice.

Sweet and syrupy, fruity and full bodied, this one is another great fruit juice to add to the list when you’re looking for new flavours to try!

Good work guys!

Where to Buy:

You can purchase this flavour as well as their others directly from the Stronghold Vapour Online Store or through their various stockists.

Colour:

Light Honey Tint

Aroma:

Light fruit juice / Pineapple / Passionfruit

Coil and wick damage:

Slightly darkened coils, but no other issues with gunking or having to change out wicks.

PG/VG Ratio:

I’m assuming 70/30 VG/PG going by the consistency.

Texture:

Fresh and fruity

Steeping:

I don’t think a steep is needed with this one, it’s all fruit.

Presentation:

The presentation of these is great! Each of the 4 flavours, arrived in grey tinted 30ml Unicorn styled bottles with security seal ring, and child-proof caps. The dispensing nibs are of a great size, small enough to fit into fill holes, but large enough to let a decent amount of juice through.

The labels are bold and professional, with the juice name, brand, profile and logo, all very noticeable and readable. It’s a simple but very clean design.

Other information on the labels includes Ingredients, warnings, RDV or Doubler checkboxes as well as the company’s website address.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
