eLiquid Review 474: Catapult Custard from Stronghold Vapour

eLiquid Review 474: Catapult Custard from Stronghold Vapour

If you haven’t been watching, this week I’m taking a look at Stronghold Vapour’s range of e-liquids.

These guys are from sunny Queensland, and currently have 4 flavours on offer. Don’t let the amount of flavours fool you though, after this review I think you just might want to check them out for yourself!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Catapult Custard” from Stronghold Vapour.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

A rich complex blend of Strawberry Vanilla Custard. – This flavour was designed with strawberry mutes in mind and has all the depth you’d expect of a true custard.

The Review

Everyone has a Strawberry Custard flavour. They became a staple in Australian vaper’s flavour racks a few years ago, and it’s no wonder. Strawberry Custards satisfy that need for a thick creamy texture, whilst also giving you a sweet fruity kick. Some have stronger custards, some even stronger strawberries, each one is unique in it’s own right, usually coming down to the preference of the mixer and how they like their custards to be.

“Catapult Custard” is a thick and creamy decadent vanilla custard, with quite a strong strawberry, that punches through, with a realistic warm tone, and that tasty unmistakeable strawberry fullness.

Individual Notes

The main flavour in this e-liquid is of course the custard, it’s a thick and creamy custard, with a slight caramel feel, and light vanilla florals, by itself quite a robust and flavoursome note that will give you a fantastic desserty texture when vaping.

The strawberry, or strawberries (I think there is more than one concentrate used) is a very realistic fruit, fleshy, yet with light seedy tones, sweet and tart all at the same time.  Another robust flavour, it draws your attention away from the custard all the while propping it up and blending with it seamlessly to create a strong thick and tangy, and sweet vape.

Inhale & Exhale

This one is a little unusual, with it’s inhale and exhale. Usually an e-juice will be a lot stronger on the exhale, but I think this one is just as strong on both the inhale and the exhale.

The inhale starts off with an instant mix of sweet and tart robust strawberry, and thick creamy custard, blending seamlessly as a lovely dessert mix that will hit you with flavour. As the inhale continues, the fresh and tangy strawberry tones intensify even more, with it’s fleshy tartness dominating the custard, right through to the peak of the inhale.

The strawberry is still quite strong as you begin the exhale, but begins to dial itself back, as the custard breaks through the background, and comes back into play, it thickens up the vape some more, while adding a rich and decadent creaminess right through to the end of the vape.

Final thoughts

This Strawberry Custard has resonated with me a lot, I’m really liking the extra strawberry and how it makes itself known throughout the entire vape, instead of hiding, or being a simple background note.

Against all odds of getting lost in the custard, it enrichens this flavour, warming it and adding a sweet yet tart fullness. Backing onto a thick and creamy custard, these two come together really well, for a rich and full profile.

Bravo guys, this one is fantastic!

You can purchase this flavour as well as their others directly from the Stronghold Vapour Online Store or through their various stockists.

Colour:

Light Honey Tint

Aroma:

Strawberry / Vanilla

Coil and wick damage:

Minimal damage to wicks or coils.

PG/VG Ratio:

I’m assuming 70/30 VG/PG going by the consistency.

Texture:

Thick and creamy, sweet and tart.

Steeping:

A steep is a good idea with this one due to the custard.

Presentation:

The presentation of these is great! Each of the 4 flavours, arrived in grey tinted 30ml Unicorn styled bottles with security seal ring, and child-proof caps. The dispensing nibs are of a great size, small enough to fit into fill holes, but large enough to let a decent amount of juice through.

The labels are bold and professional, with the juice name, brand, profile and logo, all very noticeable and readable. It’s a simple but very clean design.

Other information on the labels includes Ingredients, warnings, RDV or Doubler checkboxes as well as the company’s website address.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
