e-Liquid Review: Tim’s Tangy Apple from Affinity Creations

G’day you lot. I’m back again today to continue on with my reviews of the Affinity Creations range of eliquids.

This range was launched late last year to big fanfare, as it was never even supposed to be released commercially. Mayan got such great feedback that she just had to make it happen, and we’re all glad she did!

The first flavour that I tried was a fabulous tobacco, one of the best dessert tobaccos I’ve tried. Thick and creamy without stifling any of the smokey tobacco notes.

This next flavour is on a completely different spectrum, being an unusual fruit blend. Let’s see how we go!

Today’s review is of “Tim’s Tangy Apple” from Affinity Creations.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

The Review

When you think of Apple blends, rarely do you associate Strawberry, and even more-so, you’d never think of it being blended with any type of Citrus.

That’s what makes this flavour a step sideways from the rest, it’s unique but it also works really well. I’m actually a big fan of happenstance flavour combinations, you know the kind that as seperate flavours you’d never guess that they’d create completely new flavour profiles upon blending. That is this flavour in a nutshell.

“Distinct sweet Apple carries through this flavour picking up candied strawberry and bitter citrus along the way, what an interesting blend!”

Individual Notes

The apple here is not your usual crisp Green Apple, you know the kind that you bite into and it let’s you know how many holes you have in your teeth.
It’s more of a red apple flesh or even a yellow apple. Like a Golden Delicious or a Fuji Apple. Its very clean with no real graininess, and is pretty constant through the entire vape.

You’ll also find Strawberry in this mix. I find the strawberry to be on 2 different levels. On one side of the coin, I notice a real strawberry candy coming through, sweet and sugary, almost tart and sour, but on the other, a more seedy note, like a strawberry ripe, more savoury, with more of the seed flavour coming through.

The next flavour on the list has me completely perplexed. Citrus is mentioned, and I get it, I really do get a citrus note coming through, specifically on the exhale, but which one? I can definitely rule out an orange or a lemon, I notice a little bitterness, along with some spice to the citrus, so I am leaning toward a Bergamot and/or a Grapefruit based citrus variety.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale I hit the apple straight away, it’s a soft and sweet apple flesh, a little dialed back in intensity, and not quite as sharp as apple you’ll normally come across. As the inhale continues, I notice it get a little brighter and strengthen, all the while a light candy strawberry starts to pull into the profile. The sharper strawberry candy briefly jumps to the front of the profile coming up to the top of the inhale, before dialing back again.

As I exhale, the sweet, warmer apple flesh holds, while the strawberry begins to fade back turning toward a more savoury feel. It’s at this point I notice the citrus notes appearing, a little bitter at first, and gradually turning spicier but cleaner, allowing the apple to shine through again.

As the exhale continues and through to the end of it, you’ll find the apple front and centre again, with a light citrus pulling up behind with a little bitterness finishing off with a less sweeter finish than it started.

Final thoughts

I was quite thrown from the get-go with this one. It’s one of those unusual flavours that you’re either going to love or hate. Personally, I loved it.
I get a real kick out of a flavour I can’t quite put my finger on, and especially a profile where various notes come into play to create a much bigger symphony of flavour.

What I’m assuming is Bergamot or Grapefruit, plays a much larger role in this blend, than you might anticipate, and drives this flavour with additional dimension, contrasting really well with the sweet apple, and changes in the strawberry. I find this particular combination puts out an almost mineral or sparkling water feel, very soda like with the bitterness of the citrus bouncing off of the apple.

I haven’t run this through a MTL setup just yet, as I haven’t had my setup with me, but I’ll make sure to try it through it asap as the description advises of a flavour change. Will report back when I can on this.

All in all, this is a great mix, something a little left field, and different but an absolute pleasure to try outside of my usual flavour profiles.

Top marks for ingenuity and showing us how well unexpected flavours can work really well together!

Presentation:

Very professional and unique branding on this range.
I received 60ml Tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with child-proof and tamper-proof caps, needle tips and black cap.
The labels are quite striking with a parchment background and black and white flavour specific artwork with juice name front and centre.
These labels go above and beyond with the information provided:

I’ve heard that these labels were the creation of 4 separate people pulling together to knock out some fantastic artwork!
