eLiquid Review: Tarte A L’orange from the Dessert Man range

Ola! Welcome back again, this week I’m taking a look at the new “Dessert Man” range of flavours from none other than Big Boy Cloudz!

So far I’ve been pretty impressed with this range, all of them sharing a familiar, yet silky smooth thick cream, and complimenting fruit to create some fantastic desserts!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Tarte A L’orange” from the Dessert Man range.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

“Beautifully layered orange tart. Sweet, Tart & just nice”

The Review

Orange. The enemy of all juice chefs. It’s a fickle beast, and tends to lose it’s flavour over time, not to mention, is easily washed out by other flavours. Rarely will you come across one where you’re truly satisfied with the flavour intensity of the orange, and if you are, that will quickly change as you succumb to flavour fatigue even easier than other flavours and lose all sight of it completely!

While “Tarte A L’orange” does live to many of those traits, they have done a wonderful job with it, making sure that it has a support flavour right along side the orange to help a little with it’s intensity.

“Smooth and silky creams wash over this orange/mandarin blend creating a thick dessert with a touch of tartness.”

Individual Notes

The creams in this one are delightful as always. Just like all of the other flavours in the Dessert Man range, the creams steal the show with their light yet sticky and smooth texture. There’s a marshmallow likeness to them, that helps the flavour stick, it’s sweet cream, whipped cream, marshmallow and probably some other obscure cream that I’ve never heard of, but boy is it tasty.

Just like Key Lime Pie, this flavour has a bit of a cheesecake crust to it. It’s not dry, but moist and biscuity, a sweet base, that adds more complexity, yet doesn’t steal the show.

Now the orange. Well, just like many other orange blends, it lacks a little punch. That’s not exactly the fault of the mixer though, as most orange flavours suffer the same fate. They’re mostly washed out citrus blends.
This one is propped up a little however. It feels like a mandarin with a slightly more rounded note, helping to boost the mid range of the orange and in turn it’s impact.

Inhale & Exhale

I’m noticing a trend with all of the Dessert Man flavours, they’ve found a consistency in their blends and it works. Those wonderful creams that help make up their other flavours, also feature here, and are the first thing I notice. Smooth vanilla and sweet cream tones, turning more marshmallow and thickening up as the inhale continues.

Turning toward the height of the inhale, the Orange and Mandarin, sweet, yet tart appear through the sweet cream making sure to put in an appearance. Whilst they are light, they are well blended together with the more robust mandarin boosting the mid ranges of the orange, allowing those citrus flavours to reach a little more depth. Hitting their peak here at the top of the inhale, juicy citrus pops if only for a short time, but does wash over the entire vape while it’s around.

On the exhale, biscuity cheesecake or tart base appears creating an even thicker feel and complexity to the entire profile. The orange turns to more of a baked feel, influenced by the biscuit base, as the creams wash over the top.

The now warmer orange fading into the background continues as the cheesecake base and silky creams, dominate right out until the end of the vape.

Final thoughts

This is a lovely fruity dessert. Creamy, with background cheesecake tones, and a light orange/mandarin feel.

While I’ve loved vaping this one, and would gladly do so for days on end, I do need to address the elephant in the room. The orange and it’s lack of intensity.

I’m giving this a lower score than the others, only because I would have liked to have seen a punchier orange through the creams. While Big Boy Cloudz have done a great job, in trying to enhance the fruit, it’s still far from being strong, and I feel like I’m missing out on something that could have been that little bit more intense!

Don’t worry this is still a great flavour, if you don’t mind this being more creams than fruits, you’re going to love it! Still a highly recommended flavour, and you should definitely pick this up if you’re grabbing some from this range.

Creamy Orange

No noticeable damage to wicks or coils.

PG/VG Ratio:

70VG/30PG

Silky smooth and creamy.

A steep is definitely recommended for this one.

Presentation:

Awesome packaging with this range. I received 60ml Chubby Gorilla styled bottles with child-proof, sealed caps, and needle tip dispensers. One great thing about these dispensers is the needle tip actually unscrews so that you can easily top your bottle up with nicotine instead of popping the cap off. Too easy!

The labels are great too, a mixture of lighter faded out imagery and white, with a chef like character on the front with related fruits and desserts. The logo and flavour name and front and centre, with all of the important information provided. Bottle size, Ingredients, Warnings, and where the juice was manufactured.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
Bonza RDA with x2 Framed Stapled coils (0.2 ohm-ish)
