eLiquid Review 479: Swedish Gummies from Hot Juice

In this week’s vape reviews, I’ve got an e-liquid range from across the pond. All the way from Los Angeles, California comes the “Hot Juice” range.

These guys have 60 different flavours available as well as their very own CBD range of liquids too.

They exclusively use their own “Micro-Bubble Flavour Injection” process which involves taking the smallest flavour particles and fusing them together with PG and VG creating a very stable vape.

Self professed experts in eliquid flavours, their aim is to create awesome flavours sourced from some of the very best flavour concentrates you can get your hands on.

Let’s see how they fare!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Swedish Gummies” from Hot Juice.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

Catch the flavour of sweet gummy candy with our Swedish Gummies. You sat on the dock of the bay all day long and you didn’t hook a thing other than hunger. But it didn’t matter as long as you had Swedish Fish E-Juice by your side.

Every bite of those fresh, red chews gave you the patience to stay vigilant and let the fish come to you. This candy flavoured e-juice is definitely one of our top staff picks!

The Review

There is a huge amount of confusion over what exactly Swedish Fish (gummies) are supposed to taste like. Some say cherries, others say Lingonberry, or even “Red Frogs”. The original manufacturers have never actually confessed to the real flavour of these gummy treats.

I’ve personally never tried one before either, but I’ll certainly do my best to describe how this flavour tastes, and you can draw your own conclusion.

For me “Swedish Gummies” from Hot Juice, comes across as mostly a sweet fake (candy) cherry, sweet and sharp with a definite berry feel. Of course there is a gummy note there too. A thicker not quite syrupy sweetness that adds some extra texture. The background is a sweet musk. Not pure musk, like a musk stick, more of an underlying muskiness, almost vanilla-like in it’s execution, strong enough to notice, yet more of a supporting flavour complimenting the cherry.

Individual Notes

I’m not even certain that it’s actually cherry in this juice, but it certainly tastes like it. It’s a sweet, candy cherry, a little medicinal, it reminds me of a black cherry concentrate that I use for my wife’s favourite mix.

I think there may be some berries in this mix. Of course I can’t be sure but there is a very raspberry like note that carries through with the cherry, taking some of the sharpness off and sweetening things up a little.

The gummy feel seems to come from a blend of some traditional gummy concentrate, and is accentuated by the cherry.

There is also a prominent musk in here too. It could be blueberry based, as blueberry can have quite a floral, musk note to it in higher concentrations.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is very much a sharp medicinal cherry candy, and gummy or glycerine taste, it works well and imparts a more refined profile than a traditional gummy candy might. The cherry is first, and is quite strong, before the gummy starts to blend in rounding out the cherry a little, whilst still retaining that sharp intense inhale of the cherry.

On the exhale, the cherry has already reached it’s peak and begins to drop off as I notice the other berry notes appear. A sweeter raspberry like berry adds a little fruity texture, whilst what I think is blueberry lifts from the background, adding a warmer, floral, muskiness to the profile.

This light cherry, raspberry and musky undertone flow through until the end of the vape with a tonne of sweetener that leaves a sweetness on the lips even after the vape.

Final thoughts

This juice is tasty. It’s like nothing I’ve ever vaped before, somewhere between a cherry and a gummy candy. A gummy candy for a more refined palate if you will. Very much like a wine gum, but with a muskier and bitter feel to it. Candy for adults.

While I’ve enjoyed this quite a lot, there is one con, and unfortunately it’s a big one. I’ve needed to change wicks out every day while vaping it. The huge amount of sweetener in this juice have had my wicks turning quite a dark brown almost black colour and omitting a burnt flavour, which masks the actual flavour and ruins the vape for me.

If you’re an RDA user and change your wicks out every day you’ll get a kick out of this one, and will be able to get the full flavour of this juice  more consistently, however if you’re a pod user, or use factory coils, you will find yourself going through coils very quickly. This is also not one of those juices where you can get away with a damaged coil/wick combo for a few extra days either. The damaged wick will affect the flavour considerably. Caveat Emptor.

Where to Buy:

You can purchase this flavour as well as their others directly from the Hot Juice Online Store.

Colour:

Honey tint

Aroma:

Floral gummy candy

Coil and wick damage:

I’ve had a lot of wick damage with this one, and have been changing wicks out every day after they change to quite a dark brown giving off a definite burnt taste quite early on.

PG/VG Ratio:

70/30 VG/PG

Texture:

Sweet and fruity

Steeping:

No steeping necessary here.

Presentation:

The presentation of these bottles are very old school. I received 30ml clear plastic bottles with child-proof white caps and needle tips.

The labels are very much an old school candy shop design, with contrasting light and dark blue areas, boxed out sections and sharp clean lines. You’ll notice the brand in big bold lettering, as well as the juice name and image that reflects the flavour, with a starburst background in matching blue tones.

There’s plenty of info on the labels, bottle size, PG/VG ratio, nicotine level, location manufactured, ingredients, nicotine and health warnings, batch ID and also a best before date.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
