eLiquid Review 480: Cherry Menthol from Hot Juice

eLiquid Review 480: Cherry Menthol from Hot Juice

Ok, we’re onto the second review of this range of e-liquids. This time I’ve got something pretty straight forward, and definitely timely, since the weather has decided to throw a little bit of heat my way.

This menthol is going to go down very very well 😉

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Cherry Menthol” from Hot Juice.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the Hot Juice website]

This Cherry Menthol Vape Juice is the perfect balance of soothing cool and robust fruit sweetness. Nothing in this world puts your throat at ease like the blended taste of a balanced cherry menthol candy.

This minty fruit flavour soothes, cools, and calms while the sweet cherry follows with waves of delicious ripe menthol e-juice as it dissolves. Give yourself that refreshingly robust, lightly sweet minty taste that opens your sinuses and lets the flavour of rejuvenation over-take your vapour.

The Review

Forget light foggy mornings and a cooling breeze, this flavour comes with a blast of icy winter, and a frozen throat if you’re not careful!

If its in the name it must be there, but you’d be forgiven for thinking the Cherry doesn’t exist, “Cherry Menthol” is a sweet and medicinal cherry candy, completely overloaded with menthol, for an ice cold blast on both the inhale and exhale.

Individual Notes

The cherry, while very quiet, is a very sweet, and medicinal type of cherry candy, that has a slight muskiness, a profile very similar to what you might find in a cherry cola. It’s a spot on replica of that false candy cherry that most will be familiar with.

The menthol. What can I say about it, it actually tastes like menthol, that familiar bitter menthol overtone with a slight drying sensation, followed by that chill that freezes your throat before it does the same to the rest of  your mouth. It completely dominates the cherry so much so that you’ll only really notice the cherry at the beginning of the vape, and perhaps a little later as your palate gets used to the amount of menthol.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is instant cherry, that Dr Peppery, cherry in the cherry cola fake, medicinal type of cherry. The very same cherry that was used in “Swedish Gummies” (the previous flavour I reviewed), sweet yet, has unique overtones, that you really can only describe as floral, medicinal and musky.

As the inhale continues, you’ll notice the bitter notes of menthol strengthening slowly, but eventually taking over the cherry entirely.

The height of the inhale is all menthol. Not just the chill, but the actual bitey, dry texture and bitter flavour of menthol hitting the back of your throat.

This continues all the way through the exhale also. This is definately one very cold vape!

Final thoughts

While this juice definitely hit the spot for the last few hot days, I have found that it is lacking in anything other than menthol. It definitely has far too much menthol in comparison to the cherry, so much so that the cherry is barely even noticeable, even on an RDA. Instead you’re just blown away by a huge hit and the actual bitterness of menthol.

You could argue that it might be great for pod devices, or mouth to lung setups, but the fact that I couldn’t get much of a cherry hit from an RDA says that it’s just far too dominated by the menthol.

If you love your menthols, like really strong menthols, this will be your thing! For others however, beware, this one packs a cold punch!

Presentation:

The presentation of these bottles are very old school. I received 30ml clear plastic bottles with child-proof white caps and needle tips.

The labels are very much an old school candy shop design, with contrasting light and dark blue areas, boxed out sections and sharp clean lines. You’ll notice the brand in big bold lettering, as well as the juice name and image that reflects the flavour, with a starburst background in matching blue tones.

There’s plenty of info on the labels, bottle size, PG/VG ratio, nicotine level, location manufactured, ingredients, nicotine and health warnings, batch ID and also a best before date.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
