eLiquid Review 445: Santa Claus by Vintage Cloud Co

Yesterday, I reviewed something a little festive, it was “Mrs Claus”, smooth and tasty, the epitome of a great flavour, so great that even the big man would be proud.

Today it’s his turn. Continuing the holiday spirit, Vapen have also created a flavour dedicated to the spirit of Christmas himself, the big dude in the red pyjamas, the slightly inebriated, always jolly, bearded saint of gift giving, Santa Claus.

Flavour Description

Cool, tropical Guava and ripe tangy Pineapple

The Review:

This one is a tasty tropical treat, just in time for summer. I love how Vintage Cloud Co have made their festive flavours the exact opposite of what you’d get during the holiday season. It works because of course here in Australia, instead of a snowy, cold, white Christmas where custards, eggnog and thick creamy desserts take centre stage, we have a stinking hot, dry climate where fruity and chilled flavours are better suited!

This one, just like yesterday’s flavour “Mrs Claus”, is just perfect for our weather. It’s a fruity, slightly tropical fruit mix of sweet Guava and Tangy Pineapple, and with just the smallest amount of cooling agent, to ensure you see some relief from that heat!

Individual Notes

Pineapple is the main flavour here, it’s a tropical pineapple, not quite as bitey as the real thing, but also not quite as syrupy as canned rings of pineapple, somewhere in between. Sweet and tangy, this pineapple is the perfect lead for what is a great mix.

There is only one other flavour in this juice besides the pineapple, Guava. It’s a great choice to pair with the pineapple, where the pineapple dulls up a little because of the concentrate’s tendency to lean toward the thicker syrupy side, Guava fills the gap, and brightens it up with it’s slight tartness and matching acidic sweet tones.

This flavour is chilled a little with some cooling agent, it really is only the tiniest amount, meant to compliment the fruits, and provide that frozen finish. The more you vape this flavour, the less you’ll notice it, it is that subtle.

Inhale & Exhale

Of course on the inhale, you’re going to get hit by the pineapple straight away. At first it’s tangy, and bright, dulling and becoming a little more syrupy as the inhale continues, just as a real pineapple would do as you’re chewing it. It’s joined quite quickly by the tarter, sweet Guava toward the top of the inhale, only just noticeable at this point.

As you exhale, the pineapple is still the primary flavour and drives this flavour from start to finish, it begins to intensify, as does the Guava that comes with it, more and more so as the exhale continues. This combination of flavours creates quite a powerhouse of sweetness, bright, yet quite thick all at the same time.

As the texture thickens, a chill can be felt about halfway through the exhale, nipping at your tongue, and cooling things down a little. The perfect fraction of an amount of cooling agent, to add that coldness, without affecting the other flavours.

The end of the exhale is a brilliant blend of all three flavours, delicately mixed, to allow all a shot at the spotlight, while working together to create a brilliant tropical profile.

Final thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed this one, despite my usual problem with Pineapple, “Santa Claus” has been blended to limit the corrosive notes of the pineapple, combined with sweet Guava and that slight chill, this is going to be a great flavour for summer.

At first I did think that perhaps this might be too simple of a flavour, a little one dimensional, but now that I’ve been vaping it for a few days, appreciate the simplicity of it.

Presentation:

As always, some very nice presentation here. I received a 60ml Chubby Gorilla type clear bottle, with needle tip and child-proof lid. The labels look great, they have a bit of a parchment coloured background, with old school tattoo styled graphics. The information on the labels is sparse mainly consisting of where the product is made, the juice line, the flavour name, general ingredients and minimal warnings.

These bottles are really cool, while similar in shape to Chubby Gorilla bottles, with these, you can take the cap, and place it over the nozzle, pulling to one side, and the whole nozzle/needle assembly can be removed quickly, for adding nicotine, or diluting the flavour. I believe these are custom bottles only available in Adelaide.
