e-Liquid Review: Phaedra from Aura eLiquid range

e-Liquid Review: Phaedra from Aura eLiquid range

Here we are, unfortunately on the last of the Aura Range of eliquids already!

So far this fruity range has been a great mix of profiles, a perfect collection for fruit lovers, with it’s characteristic fruit punch/medley theme flowing through each of the flavours.

If you’re not aware, this range was put together by the ladies of VapourEyes, celebrating International Women’s Day, and their contribution to our vape industry. Each one was designed and created by one of VE’s staff members and is of course named after each!

I’ve been pretty impressed by these blends during the reviews, looking at the range as a whole, it’s been very consistent, with the flavour intensity very normalised across all.

So without further ado.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Phaedra” from the Aura eLiquid range.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Phae’s a bae, and she’s got a cray juice for you today.
Soft, sweet persimmon mixed with juicy cranberries — a combination you might never have heard of, let alone tried! We’d recommend it if you’re a fan of citrus or stonefruit.

The Review

This one is going to be a little bit of a read for some of you who don’t know what a Persimmon is, but in short, it’s a fruit that is a bit of a mix of tomato/apricot in texture, and is sweet with quite a rich volumous flavour.
It’s actually classed as a berry, obviously a lot larger than one, often the size of a small apricot. It’s flavour can range from being peachy, to apricot, very much a stone-fruit profile.

I honestly haven’t even read the description of this until now, and was under the impression that this flavour was in fact a peach blend, which might give you more of an idea of what type of flavour profile this is.

Right, let’s get stuck in!

A lovely blend of sweet yet slightly astringent cranberries, and the richer sweet Persimmon, creates quite a smooth and flavoursome combination!

Individual Notes

As described earlier, this one has Persimmon in it. In this, it’s quite sweet, with a juicy stonefruit note washing through it, which gives this a lot of it’s body, and base flavour. A really syrupy and flavoursome addition.

We also have cranberries here too. The cranberry is a much lighter, juicier flavour, sweet, with a little bitterness and astringency running through it, it provides much of the contrast against the persimmon, quite a lot of brightness, pulling this flavour out of a deeper, creamier profile.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, the Persimmon flavour is really Peachy, I mentioned earlier that I actually though that this flavour was a Peach profile, and it really does have that feel to it. It has a really sweet and creamy inhale right away, that strengthens as the inhale continues.

As you near the top of the inhale, the juiciness breaks out, getting a little brighter as hints of the Cranberry appear through the Persimmon, contrasting against it with a little astringency and bitterness.
As you’ll know if you’ve tried other Cranberry flavours, it can have that edgy bitter note to it before it smoothes out with even more sweetness.

Through the exhale, I notice a distinct shift from that base creamy Pesimmon note, to a much sharper, crisper berry and a very faint bitterness.

Final thoughts

I’ve quite enjoyed this one, it’s an unusual mix, and now that I’ve actually read the description, realise exactly how unusual it really is! Persimmon is not a fruit that you hear a lot about, and it’s been awesome to try a completely new flavour combination.

If you’re into stone fruits, this flavour will give you a pretty big stone fruit profile hit, this will be right up your alley. And Cranberry lovers, while the inhale has quite a thick and creamy feel, the tail end thins out with a crisper berry note on the exhale. You should enjoy this one alot also.

Great work guys!

Presentation:

Some nice artwork here. I received tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with child proof caps and needle tip dispensers. The labels are glossy with a dark background, the Aura brand name front and centre along with the flavour name below it, easy to see. The front of the label depicting a lady sitting in the lotus position has a colour coded background where the background colour changes depending on the flavour.

On the other side of the labels is where all of the info is. Ingredients, warnings, website, manufacturer line, and barcode.
I did not see a PG/VG ratio nor a bottle size printed on the label, although this can be retrieved from the Vapoureyes website anyway.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
