eLiquid Review 522: Mentholicious – Polaris by dRiip

It’s been absolutely bloody freezing the last few days, and of course, of all flavours that I’ve decided to vape in this cold weather… Menthol LOL!

This one is another from the dRiip range of eliquids, in particular the Mentholicious range, the last one that I have here in fact.

If you don’t know of dRiip, it is the brain child of the good people at Vape98, a cool little vape shop on Gilbert Street, Adelaide City, that not only stocks their own line of eliquid, but many other fantastic Aussie favourites.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Polaris” from the dRiip Mentholicious range.

Flavour Description

For the intense menthol lovers, Polaris shows off white and yellow peaches into a strong and intense coolness, with touches of banana goodness.

The Review

I’ve been a little curious about this flavour from the very start, wondering exactly how this flavour combination would work, would it be tasty? How exactly would dRiip make these flavours blend?

Well somehow they have! The realistic banana, and juicy white peach perfectly compliment each other, and along with the ice cold menthol, provide a very clean and fruity combination.

Individual Notes

The banana is very much a realistic banana flesh, no skin notes. Just a thick and robust banana that holds its own against the peach.

The peach is a juicy white peach, quite sweet and syrupy, yet clean and light at the same time. How it blends so well with the banana, I’ll never know, but this whole profile stays light and fruity.

There is a metric tonne of Menthol here, it’s icy on the inhale, it’s icy on the exhale, and there is a big bitter menthol note here too. Not an imposing menthol flavour, because the peach and banana sort of keep that at bay, but noticeable none-the-less.

Inhale & Exhale

This flavour has such a menthol chill that you’ll find the inhale and exhale are very similar.

On the inhale the banana is instantly recognisable, as the dullish, thicker flavour of real banana flesh, light at this point, but a very nice example. Along with it, you’ll also notice a splash of peach. You’ll need to really look for it, as the menthol on the inhale is very cold and very strong, but the peach takes it’s best feature, it’s juiciness, and happily blends it with the existing banana. All of this very light at this point, and almost drowned out by the strong menthol inhale.

Once you hit the exhale, the banana and particularly the peach become a little more noticeable at the beginning, a nice solid flavour, with each of the fruit’s features shining through.

As the exhale progresses, the menthol comes back again very strongly, with a slight menthol bitterness, and a punch of cooling that takes away some of the fruits, resulting in a very very cold end of vape.

Final thoughts

I was initially surprised at how well the banana and peach work together, the peach provides the sharper, cleaner, and juicier fruit juice feel, while the banana the low down, thicker texture.

I do feel that the menthol is a little overbearing in this however, and I would have liked to see less, so that I could get more of the fruits front and centre. The fruits unfortunately take a back seat to the menthol and that is a real shame.

Other than that, this is a delightful flavour, that menthol lovers will get a real kick out of, so if you’re that way inclined, jump on this one, you’ll love it!

I’ve had a little darkening of coils and wicks with this one, but it hasnt happened overly quickly. So even though there is a little sweetener here, it’s not too destructive.

Presentation:

The presentation of these bottles is quite professional. I received tinted 60ml Chubby Gorilla styled bottles with child proof, sealed cap and needle tip. The labels are well done with colours, fruits and imagery depicted depending on the flavour with the brand, juice name and Mentholicious title prominently displayed.

Other information on the labels includes: Additional warnings, ingredients, PG/VG ratio, bottle size, zero nicotine declaration. I like seeing all of this info on bottle labels!
