eLiquid Review: Maddison from Regency Vapour

eLiquid Review: Maddison from Regency Vapour

Welcome back, I’ve been a little lazy of late and meant to put this review up a few days ago, apologies for that, but here it is. The last of the Regency Vapour range of flavours!

Regency Vapour are a little Aussie business based out of New South Wales, with ties to the famous Haku Engineering (think Haku RDA’s), they’ve got their own physical store, as well as a neat little following that also includes representatives over in the UK who are all part of this now well known brand. The Regency Vapour range of flavours have been around now for a year or so, initially starting out with a huge amount of flavours that have now been whittled down to some of the more popular.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Maddison” from Regency Vapour.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“Strawberry Orange Marmalade”

The Review

I had a pretty good idea of what this one was going to be like. I pictured nice rich yet sweet strawberry with a light orange undertone. The sort of sweetness that you’d get in a preserve, nice and complex, with notes that compliment and contrast to create something pretty dynamic.

It has all of those things, but to me, took a completely different turn than what I was expecting. The richer complex strawberry and orange that I expected to be a little jammy, or like a preserve, are instead, more candy-like. The sweetness here is very much like a hard candy profile, sharp but sweet, tart but not fruity, a little artificial and a little over the top.

“This one is a little deceptive, more of a hard candy fruit mix than a real jam or preserve, or marmalade, with sharper artificial tones than the smoother fruit notes I was expecting.”

Individual Notes

The strawberry here is definitely more candy sweet than fruity. I get a strong heart hard candy feel from this one with slightly sour, tart top end, with a sticky sweet base. This reminds me of those strawberry heart hard candies that were tangy and stuck to your teeth when crunched down on.

The orange is slight. You’d be forgiven for thinking its not even there, or only a wash in the background, because it really is light, specially against the stronger strawberry. It is there however, and does help add to the marmalade profile, it’s just not very strong.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale I notice the strawberry candy and orange all at once right from the get go. It’s a nice combination, with the strawberry obviously being the stronger of the two and the orange seemingly there to provide a little complexity and tartness.

As with most eliquids, the flavour is light at the beginning of the inhale and gradually increasing in intensity as you go, until you hit the top of the inhale. This is the strongest point, and the profile doesn’t shift at this point, the strawberry candy is very much the dominant flavour over the orange, however the orange does take on more of a real fruity feel offering a little bit of a marmalade finish over the candy, but the tart artificial strawberry is still really driving the profile.

On the exhale, the orange marmalade is a little stronger, and this is probably where you’ll notice it the most, it does have a deeper feel to it, more dynamic, but unfortunately just like the inhale, the strawberry continues to dominate, leaving the orange to be more of a wash of flavour in the background.

Final thoughts

I was a little disappointed with this one unfortunately. That marmalade feel just didn’t really break through the candy enough for my liking.

I expected a really dynamic, full profiled marmalade, but instead experienced more of a thicker and stickier hard candy. Tart and sweet, sticky and syrupy.

That’s not to say this isn’t a really tasty flavour, because it totally is. It is a very nice flavour. It just doesn’t match the description in my opinion.

It’s a bit of a shame to finish up the Regency Vapour reviews on this note, because the rest of the flavours did live up to their descriptions, and were actually quite dynamic and robust profiles.

Aaaanyway, if you’re looking for a thick, and full, dynamic jam or marmalade, you won’t find it here, but if you’re looking for quite a nice strawberry and orange hard candy, you’ve found a great example!

Where to Buy:

You can pick up all of the Regency Vapour range from the Regency Vapour Australia website, the Regency Vapour UK website, or from their many stockists.

Colour:

Clear

Aroma:

Strawberry Candy

Coil and wick damage:

Some darkening of wicks, but no real gunking.

PG/VG Ratio:

80VG/20PG

Texture:

Sweet and sugary hard candy

Steeping:

A steep is probably not necessary with this one.

Presentation:

Great regal looking presentation. I received dark tinted and clear 60ml Chubby Gorilla style bottles with childproof caps, and needle tip dispensers.

The darker labels with gold accents give things quite an elegent look, which matches with Regency’s scripted logo and general theme.

These have pretty minimal information on them, mainly, logo & brand, juice name, 18+, 0mg Nicotine, and a skull warning icon. I would have liked to have seen a lot more information on here.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
Bonza RDA with x2 Framed Stapled coils (0.2 ohm-ish)
