e-Liquid Review: Katie from Aura eLiquid range

e-Liquid Review: Katie from Aura eLiquid range

Welcome back gang, today I’m starting on another Aussie e-liquid range, this one, many of you may not have heard of.

This range comes from the Vapoureyes lab, as many have before it, but this is a little different. This range was born in celebration of International Women’s day and Women’s contribution to the vaping industry.

Putting this all together are the ladies from Vapoureyes, each involved in creating and developing this collection of flavours side by side with the mixing legends of VE. Every flavour is of course named after one of the contributors who helped make this range extra special.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Katie” from the Aura eLiquid range.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Katie keeps us grounded, and this juice will do just the same!
Katie’s headed out to field to pick the freshest blackcurrants you’ve ever tasted, distilled them down to their purest form, and presented it in a soft, juicy flavour very reminiscent of that cordial you had as a kid.

The Review

Blackcurrant is one of my favourite flavours, I love it as a juice, I love it as a sweet, hard boiled candies, ice-cream, you name it, and I’ll enjoy it.
And this flavour hasn’t disappointed! Tasty sweet blackcurrant notes dominate this e-liquid as it’s primary profile, making sure to leave a flavoursome impression, and keep you coming back for more!

“Blend fresh, natural Blackcurrant, with a gummy, add some sweetness and candy layering, and this is what you’ll end up with. Sweet and distinct, the flavour accuracy is on point!”

Individual Notes

As mentioned earlier, this is a blackcurrant, through and through. What kind though? You might ask. Almost every kind! Would be my answer.

Fresh Blackcurrant gets a look in here, there’s definitely a bit of a juicy note happening. Sweet and tart are what you’re looking for here.

Candy Blackcurrant is quite noticeable also. Remember those Blackcurrant Fruit Pastilles? There is a lot of that profile going on in this flavour. Sweet and artificial, yet strikingly tasty!

Blackcurrant juice, also sees itself into this flavour. It’s not quite a Ribena, but also not quite a blackcurrant cordial, somewhere in between, with a slightly tart undertone and a sweetness that washes over the top.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll instantly recognise the blackcurrant, at this point its a little relaxed, and blending between a juicy blackcurrant juice and a Blackcurrant Million. That almost powdery and artificial flavour is quite dominant, even though the flavour intensity is quite light.

As the inhale continues, the flavour strengthens, not by a lot however. You get the impression that the flavour is increasing in the right area, but it doesn’t seem to get to a point where it’s punchy at the top of the inhale, where you might expect it. Instead, as you approach the top of the inhale, things get a little more candied and subdued, the blackcurrant juice profile almost getting lost in the midst, while the candied notes take over.

As you exhale, you’ll notice quite a gummy note coming through, building in sweetness and jelly candy tones it’s as if it is a continuation of the candy note’s slow transformation into a gummy fruit pastille.

Things don’t really change from this point on, it’s a fight between the fruit pastille and the blackcurrant millions as to who will win and the exhale really does feel like a complete blend of the two.

Final thoughts

I love the flavour in this, it’s fantastic! The range of blackcurrant and different profiles that wash through it works really well and I’d gladly vape it all day long.

However, this is a very lightly flavoured e-liquid. The blackcurrant as tasty as it is, is not very strong, and after a while, tends to fade, leaving you with a flavour that doesn’t quite taste like you’d expect it to.

Punchy and packed with flavour are not words you’d use to describe this one. On the flip-side, the flavour you do get is wonderful, it’s a very balanced blend of candy, juice and real blackcurrants that really does impress. Bump up that intensity and this is an award winning flavour!

If you’re like me and you don’t mind a ‘lighter’ flavour, you’re going to love this one. Grab yourself a bottle, wick up your favourite flavour RDA and puff away. If you’re a flavour monger and need that punch in the face, it might be best to skip over this, as you’ll likely not get enough from it.

No steeping necessary.

Presentation:

Some nice artwork here. I received tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with child proof caps and needle tip dispensers. The labels are glossy with a dark background, the Aura brand name front and centre along with the flavour name below it, easy to see. The front of the label depicting a lady sitting in the lotus position has a colour coded background where the background colour changes depending on the flavour.

On the other side of the labels is where all of the info is. Ingredients, warnings, website, manufacturer line, and barcode.
I did not see a PG/VG ratio nor a bottle size printed on the label, although this can be retrieved from the Vapoureyes website anyway.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
