e-Liquid Review: Jammin’ from Solomons Clouds

Hi folks, I’m back again this week continuing the reviews for the Solomon’s Clouds range of e-liquids.

So far the Solomon’s Clouds range has proven to be quite a robust group of flavours, that are not only well blended but with attention to detail and packed full of flavour. I’ve mowed through their chilled range (Mangoo Ice/Graporade ICE) and am working my way through their dessert flavours.

Today’s flavour is “Jammin” from Solomons Clouds.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
A delicious cinnamon free, deep fried raspberry jam donut. On the inhale your mouth is treated to an explosion of raspberry that’ll leave you weak at the knees and begging for more. The doughnut flavour follows suit on the exhale. All the jam donut you can handle, with none of the calories

The Review

I’d be lying if I said this flavour was exactly what I expected, because this is NOT your everyday Raspberry jam donut. You’d typically expect a little cinnamon, a very doughy donut, with a sweet raspberry sauce, and a good lick of sweetener from a profile such as this.

Not so here, instead I get a dominant Raspberry Jam that is very jelly like, over a backdrop of a sweet doughy donut with a good dashing of cookie. Yep that’s right, this has quite the cookie feel to it.

“Tasty Raspberry Jelly candy notes are the strength behind this hybrid flavour, followed by a distinct cookie and doughy donut combo”

Individual Notes

The raspberry is the real king of this flavour. Unlike other raspberry jam donuts where you need to hunt for the jam, Solomon’s Clouds have bolstered the raspberry, even mixing it up from the traditional sweet sauce to more of a jelly. This jam is so jelly, that at times I really feel I taste a red frog flavour coming through!

The donut is doughy and sweet, your typical doughnut but this does not seem to have any cinnamon, so comes across as a drier baked donut rather than a deep fried one.

The cookie parts the dough and pushes through almost deliberately just show that it’s there, it’s a distinct baked cookie, that makes the profile feel more like a raspberry ripple than a raspberry donut.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale sees, mainly Sweet Raspberry Sauce/Jam, well more of a Jelly Candy really. At first it does have that jammy, sauce kind of feel, then it quickly jumps to a jelly jam and finally sweetens even more to seem like a raspberry jelly candy. It’s very dominant unlike others of this profile and just shows that Solomon’s Clouds wanted to stray from the norm on this one.

At the top of the inhale, sweet soft donut dough pushes through, drying up the raspberry a little and beefing up the texture. Youre going to get a very raspberry jam cake profile here, just a little more doughy.

As you exhale that dough strengthens and as it does, you’ll notice a real cookie note appear. Think shortbread mixed with a hard vanilla cookie. Sweeter than a normal cookie but with all of that buttery flavour. It’s an interesting blend and does a great job keeping the dough from seeming a little too fresh.

You’ll finish the vape with a mix of that sweet sweet raspberry jelly candy, raw dough and vanilla cookie, all blended together to create a tasty flavour that’s not only different but rich and robust.

Final thoughts

I’ve quite enjoyed this one, it’s daring and different, definitely not your conventional Raspberry Jam Donut, instead offering a more jelly like jam, almost candy, and a donut dough that strikes a balance between donut and cookie.

I think the cookie pushes it a little too far away from its intended donut profile however and would like to see more of that dough come through. The same goes for the raspberry. While welcomingly different, the candiness of the raspberry doesn’t quite fit, it needs to be a little more saucy or preserved in my opinion.

Despite those few flaws (and that’s just my take) this is a really nice flavour. I never grew tired of it and have enjoyed it very much over the last few days. If you love your donut and looking for another to try, I recommend you try this, it’s bold and different, which is exactly how I like my flavours to be!

Presentation:

The whole Solomon’s Clouds range has a very professional presentation. I received 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottles, with tamper proof seals and child proof caps. The bottles are dark tinted with black caps and needle tip dispensers.

On the label you have Solomon’ s Clouds and the flavour name prominently displayed front and centre, with matching colour band, and a bunch of other information. PG/VG ratio, bottle size, flavour profile, Lab information, website url, Ingredients and barcode. I noticed that there are no warnings at all on the label besides “This product contains zero nicotine”.

What is on the label, which I really love, is a scale that shows how much juice you have left in the bottle up to one of the inside edges where the label doesn’t quite meet together. A popular spot to hold your bottle up to the light to see how much is left is made that much more useful with a scale that goes through “Refill”, 1/4, “Half”, 3/4, and “Full” stages.
A very cool idea!
