eLiquid Review 467: Hoots Toot by Hoots Premium Blends

Hoots Premium Blends have a quite the array of flavours to choose from. The variety in their offerings is quite extensive, they’ll have something for everyone! The last few reviews have been fruit and candy profiles, while today, I’ve got something a little more refined and smokey.

This one has been graced with winning the award for “Best Tobacco Profile” in the recent Australian Vaping Awards among some pretty stiff competition. Let’s see what it’s all about!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Hoots Toot” from Hoots Premium Blends.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

This is an old recipe Scott created over six years ago, when looking for something a little more robust and smoke like than your common fruity flavours.

This ejuice is reminiscent of an old style caramel cigar with smooth tones and a hint of fruit.

Your ultimate pub vape, goes great with a beer or bourbon.

The Review

I love cigar flavours, I find that they are complex and refined flavours, something that you can sit back and vape at the end of the day and appreciate all of the nuances and notes that make them.

“Hoots Toot”, whilst a cigar flavour, I’m finding has a lot more going on than you might expect. It’s a smooth Cavendish type of caramel cigar flavour, sweet, and wet yet rounded and smokey, with an almost banana, jackfruit, gummy type of background. It’s very much a cigar / pipe tobacco hybrid that introduces some brighter notes that play really well against the traditional cigar tones.

Individual Notes

The cigar here is a little mealy, very much a Cavendish tobacco, a little smokey and has a slight pipe tobacco feel to it. It’s a rich mix that resembles a blend of a big fat traditional smokey cigar and more modern vanilla caramel.

The caramel is light and adds a little organic or cereal feel to the tobacco, as it dampens the dryness, in turn a wetter experience than you might expect.

There are apparently some hints of fruit in this mix also. I definitely make out a hint of banana, and/or a sharper fruit like pineapple or apple. I actually think this might be jackfruit, there is a roundness of banana that also sharpens to an almost gummy note, Jackfruit is known for this and for having banana-like notes, a creamy consistency, and a brighter pineapple feel to it.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll be presented with that unmistakeable pipe/cigar tobacco note, it’s a little grassy and mealy at first, organic, and wet. Once you get past that however, natural roasted notes begin to come through with quite a bit of a smokey feel at the top of the inhale.

On the exhale, the cigar whilst still smokey, combined with the roasted nuance, seems to create a sweetness that is wheaty, a cereal feel. This is an interesting side effect and makes this feel a lot less cigar like and quite meaty.

Through this you’ll notice light fruity notes, beginning from the lower base of banana, layered right through to a sharper pineapple where a gummy nuance seems to be created along the way. A real Jackfruit feel, or to be more descriptive, a hint of juicy fruit gum.

About halfway through the exhale, the dryness and smoke come back into play, and the vape finishes with a very complex arrangement of dry tobacco, thick caramel, a meaty fullness, with sweeter hints of banana and pineapple, all coming together, yet very distinguishable at the same time.

Final thoughts

Probably not my favourite tobacco, as it feels a little too organic and cereal-like to me, perhaps a little too complex, but a very interesting blend and an even more impressive attempt at creating something a little different.

I really like how the fruit was added, lightly and more of a hint than a full on flavour coming through, it accents the tobacco quite well and shifts the focus from the wetter organic feel to sharper highlights and eventually that smokey finish.

While it might not be my pick, it certainly is one to grab if you’re looking at Hoot’s range, you might just find this complex tobacco that decadent flavour you’ve been looking for!
