eLiquid Review 466: Bag O Fizz by Hoots Premium Blends

If you haven’t been reading, this week, I’ll be taking a look at some flavours from Hoots Premium Blends. Based in WA Hoots, have been around for quite a while now and have made a very loyal following for their great flavour profiles. They’ve even won a few categories in the Australian Vaping Awards for some of their creations!

This next flavour is a crowd favourite, not only in vape form but the original candy also has its fair share of dedicated fans.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Bag O Fizz” from Hoots Premium Blends.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

Everyone needs to keep their bag of fizz handy.

At Hoots we love the popular Aussie candy that has a soft orange candy outside and a nice mildly fizzy sherberty inside, well this is the vape version of it.

The Review

What a great profile to make an e-liquid from! Sherbies were, and still are a crowd pleaser, when you put them out, they always seem to be the first wrapped candies to disappear from the table, just everyone loves them!

If you’re unfamiliar, Allens Sherbies are individually wrapped, chewy orange sweets, with fizzy sherbert in the centre.

You get the best of both worlds, a sweet and chewy orange external shell, often quite hard until you’ve been sucking on it a while and it softens, and a fizzy sherbert centre that just bursts out as you sink your teeth into it!

Hoots have done a fantastic job, capturing the entire Sherbie experience, so much so you’ll be looking around for the empty wrappers!

Individual Notes

If you were eating Sherbie, the first flavour you’d come across is the orange candy. It’s a soft outer shell, that houses the fizzy sherbert centre.
Soft, slightly toffee like, it will stick to your teeth with a sweetness to it that is both rounded yet sharp, setting the stage for that sherbert hit once you bite into it.

The sherbert here is a sharp fizz, and instant flavour hit that has a bit of a raspberry/lemon/orange feel to it. It has a creamy feel even though there’s probably no cream in here.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll notice the sherbert instantly. At first its a fairly generic type of flavour, spot on to what you would expect it to be, just like one of those “Wizz Fizz” sherbert bags. As the inhale continues though, and the intensity picks up, light fruity notes become noticeable, lemon, orange, raspberry, all bitey acidic and tart fruits, that are blended together to make up the sherbert. At the height of the inhale, they hit their sharpest point, which is precisely where you’ll pick up on the candy outer shell the easiest.

At the top of the inhale and onto the exhale, is where you’ll notice more of an orange note, it’s not the same as before, its a thicker, more rounded candy note that feels more like a solid than one part in a mixture of fruits.

The sweet and rounded nature of this candy, provides the Sherbie outer shell feel, and while it is noticeable after vaping it for quite a while, you might not pick up on it straight away. Hidden behind the sherbert quite a lot, this orange candy is more of a base, not sharp, nor attention grabbing, it supports the sherbert, I think a little too much. A little underwhelming and living in the star of the show’s shadow.

As the exhale continues, you’ll finish off with that strong raspberry, orange, lemon sherbert that has been there from the get-go, accompanied by the candy base, light, yet providing that low base and thickness that is totally undervalued yet needed to complete the profile.

Final thoughts

This flavour is a sherbert through and through. While I am not getting as strong as an orange that I’d like from this, and it is coming through as more of a pure sherbert than a sherbert and orange candy, it is really very well done, and Hoots have captured the feel almost perfectly.
However, I’ve given this one a slightly lower score than I would have due to the very light orange, I really think it needs more candy.

Despite that, the fizz is there, the sweetness, and it’s not just an empty sweetness mimicking a sherbert like others out there. This is actually a full flavoured sherbert that will have you wondering how the hell they actually managed to pull this off!

Trust me on this, I’ve tried, Sherbert is no mean feat, but Hoots have done a wonderful job, setting that familiar flavour, as well as the combined texture and fizz required.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth, and love your Sherbies, you should definitely take a look at this one, I highly recommend it.
