eLiquid Review 463: Daymaker – Dirty Harry Collection by Juice Hero

I’m taking a look at a few e-liquids from Juice Hero this week, more notably, some from the Dirty Harry Collection and also the Tundra juice lines.

Juice Hero are a local South Australian eliquid producer that have been around for a long while. You might not see a lot about them across social media, but they seem to be at almost every vape store I’ve been to, so definitely have gotten themselves out there!

They are a favourite for beginners due to their tobacco flavours, and often described as the benchmark for Australian tobacco blends.

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Daymaker” from Juice Hero’s “Dirty Harry Collection”.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

Extra smoky Western style tobacco with notes of chocolate and hazelnut.

The Review

I appreciate a good tobacco flavour. They’re great to fill up on at the end of a long day, with beverage of choice in your hand. There is something relaxing about vaping a more masculine and refined flavour knowing that the juice maker really has spent a lot of time on it.

As I’ve said countless times before, they’re not easy to make due to their required long steep times, and juice makers really have to be on the ball to turn those less than optimum concentrates into something really special.

Todays flavour, “Daymaker” blends a drier, smokey tobacco, with hints of chocolate and hazelnut.

Individual Notes

The tobacco in this one is a little different than the one found in “Callahan”. Whilst it shares that similar grassy, organic feel, it’s not quite as sweet. This is also drier, and smokier than a virginia tobacco.

You’ll find a little chocolate in this flavour too, obviously not a primary note, but it provides a nice thick rounded texture, a little more cocoa rather than a milk chocolate, which of course works really well.

The other note you’ll find here is a nut. Adding hazelnut to this mix does a wonderful job of masking the dryness of the tobacco, and complimenting it with a nutty finish.

Inhale & Exhale

Of course the inhale begins with the tobacco, this is a little sweet, much drier than sweet however, and smokey, compared to a virginian tobacco, which has a heavy feel. Unusually, I also notice a little chocolate on the inhale as well, where on many other eliquids, it will be more prominant on the exhale. This makes the vape a little sweeter, but not in the sweet tobacco sense, more of a dessert feel. Both the tobacco and the chocolate intensify as the inhale continues.

At the height of the inhale, the tobacco takes on a really smokey feel, an almost burning chest moment, where despite the flavour, could be forgiven for thinking that you’re actually smoking. It’s a dry sensation with a little throat hit.

Over to the exhale, that dry, smokey effect lessens as the chocolate floods over to the exhale and is joined by hazelnut. The nut adds a little more body to the vape, and helps to disguise the dryness of the tobacco on the tongue, and add some additional layering. About mid way through the exhale, the hazelnut and chocolate drop away a little and allow the smokiness of the tobacco to come through again, finishing off the vape with a light chocolate/hazelnut, smokey dry tobacco.

Final thoughts

I have rather liked this one, it’s not quite as sweet as “Callahan”, taking on a drier feel. And the addition of the chocolate and hazelnut, provide a slightly more decadent experience.

Not absent however is that organic, sweeter, grassy note. It’s very similar in this one, a little sweet, a little sour, somewhat of a vegetal note, but again, you’ll get this in most tobaccos.

What I do notice “Daymaker” does really well, is to mask it’s dryness. You still get that smokey dry feeling when vaping, however it’s not so dry on the tongue, which this would be if it wasn’t for the hazelnut and chocolate.

All in all, a job well done.
