eLiquid Review 491: Cool Raspberry Grapefruit Mojito from Butler’s Choice

eLiquid Review 491: Cool Raspberry Grapefruit Mojito from Butler’s Choice

I’ve another sweet and fruity mix from the good folks over at “Butler’s Choice eLiquids” to take a look at today.

It’s a pretty similar sort of vape to my previous review of “Lemon Lime and Bitters“, light and fruity, and of course it’s also a beverage. So, if you found that one interesting, you’re going to want to read on to see if you’re going to pick this one up too!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Cool Raspberry Grapefruit Mojito” from Butlers Choice Eliquid.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]

“Imagine that sweet Raspberry Mojito thats got a tinge of citrus and cool, all day vape recommended. “

The Review

Bitter grapefruit and sweet raspberry is the blend of the day here with this eliquid. It’s a delicately balanced mix with raspberry pulling up first with it’s sweeter, lower background like notes, with a juicy yet bitter grapejuice washing over it and introducing some contrast and a little bit of bite!

Individual Notes

The grapefruit in this is superb, it’s sweet yet also has all of the bitterness and tartness that you can expect from this fruit. The citrus in this provides just enough bite to stand out without going over the top. What a great contrast to the raspberry!

The raspberry here is a low note, very much a smooth background sweetness that is very rounded yet fruity. Not a tart fruit by any means, this raspberry takes on an almost raspberry jelly candy flavour.

There is supposedly some menthol or WS23 in here also, but I don’t really make it out. On a tank I do pick up a little bit of coolness, but only when really looking for it, otherwise I suspect you might only get this on much higher wattages.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale you’ll notice the raspberry straight away, or not! In all seriousness, the raspberry used in this is one that is difficult for some people to pick out. It’s quite a background base note with lighter gummy nuances that is very easy to pass over and not really notice. Because of this, most of this flavour takes on a lighter feel, and in turn is a very delicate mix. As the inhale continues, the raspberry gets progressively stronger. Still not as much as an impact you may expect, but you’ll notice the thicker sweetness of it fill the vape.

At the height of the inhale comes the grapefruit, this works it’s way in just before the top, and intensifies with the raspberry, until the peak where it splits away creating a slight bitterness, and with a really wet wick, a very blood orange/grapefruit citrus tone. Dull yet tart at the same time.

The grapefruit stretches through the beginning of the exhale, until it meets with the sugary base of the sweetener. Here it begins to fade off as the sweetener takes the forefront driving the vape home with some lip smacking sugary goodness.

Final thoughts

This flavour is great right off the bat, it has a very nice complimentary flavour pairing happening, with sweetness and bitterness all working as one, for quite a tasty combination. This is the best bit, fresh wick, fresh coil, first few hours vaping this, and you’re in heaven, enjoying this solid mojito profile.

However, this quickly changes, at which point exactly I’m not sure, but the more I’ve vaped this the less pronounced the flavour has gotten. It’s been a gradual decline in intensity, which I can only attribute to the starting lower level of flavour intensity and the sweetener that is added which seems to muddy the waters a little.

Once this kicks in, the only way to really get the original profile out of this is to allow my wicks to really wet themselves and take a very large long hit, to maximise flavour through my RDA.

Don’t get me wrong, I have completely enjoyed vaping this one, however with the flavour drop off, I can’t say that the intensity is on point for an extended period of time.

If you re-wick all of the time, go for it, you will love this flavour, with it’s grunty bitterness and sweet raspberry, but if you’re a vaper who doesn’t wick often, you may experience the same thing that I did.

This one is definitely one for the RTA and tank users, as the sweeteners will not affect you as quickly as they would an RDA.

Where to Buy:

You can purchase this flavour as well as their others directly from the Butlers Choice Online Store.

Colour:

Completely Clear

Aroma:

Raspberry/Grapefruit

Coil and wick damage:

Minimal damage to wicks or coils

PG/VG Ratio:

70/30 VG/PG

Texture:

Sweet, cool, beverage

Steeping:

I don’t think this one needs a steep, it’s pretty good straight away.

Presentation:

As always, Butler’s Choice have some pretty professional packaging. I received 60ml Chubby Gorilla styled clear bottles with black child-proof, crack seal lid. These bottles have needle tip dispensers, and are made from a harder plastic, so a little more difficult to squeeze.

The labels are the same as the flavours that I reviewed a while ago, black with a patterned background, with little tiny icons floating around that match the flavour. The usual information is available on the label, logo, juice name in flavour oriented colours, size, VG/PG ratio, Ingredients list, and keep out of reach of children warnings.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
