eLiquid Review 490: Lemon Lime Bitters with Ice from Butler’s Choice

eLiquid Review 490: Lemon Lime Bitters with Ice from Butler’s Choice

You’ll remember a little while ago, I reviewed a few flavours from the “Butler’s Choice” range of juices, well I’m back again with another four to show you, and run through what I think of them!

If you’re unfamiliar with “Butler’s Choice”, they’re a pretty new Australian eliquid company, that have an impressive collection of flavour profiles available, and let me tell you, these guys don’t release a flavour until they’re 100% happy with it, and it really shows in their quality!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Lemon Lime Bitters on Ice” from Butlers Choice Eliquid.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]

“As you could imagine this one taste exactly the same as the real thing. This one’s a must have especially for those hot summer days. Not too tangy not too sweet but just right with a bit of cool. “

The Review

We’ve all had a “Lemon Lime and Bitters”, a favourite among those who need a refreshing beverage on a stinking hot summer’s day. It’s a distinct flavour, fresh and sweet with a mild acidity from the lime, and a light bitterness from that dash of “Bitters”.

“Butler’s Choice eLiquids” have done a pretty good job here, replicating that! Theirs is quite sweet, and a dead ringer for the beverage at first try. You get every note, the sweet lemonade, the slightly acidic lemon-lime combo and a light bitterness on the mid-range.

Individual Notes

The lemon and lime in this flavour come across as a syrupy duo, with the lime being more akin to a key lime, and the lemon just there as a little backup. Not tart nor overly acidic, both of the citrus’s are a lot sweeter than expected, but do match for that lime cordial feel as you’d get with the real thing.

Bitters has to be a hard flavour to get. And this one is not quite there. I feel like it is the menthol in this that is creating the slight bitterness rather than a real “Bitters”.

There is a little menthol here, it’s very very light, and you’ll notice it more on a tank and a higher wattage.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll instantly notice the lime, it’s unmistakeable, and a very key lime type of flavour. It’s sweeter than your usual sharp tart lime, a little more cordial like, which is perfect for this profile. The lemon is not far away, and it filters in lightly over the course of the inhale bringing the end of the inhale toward a sweet yet tart, syrupy fruit profile.

Over to the exhale, that syrupy lime and lemon intensify, and slowly turn sweeter, as I begin to notice a little bitterness appear. I’m not quite certain what is used to create this, but I suspect the small amount of menthol used may be creating it. It freshens things up, but not quite enough, as it still remains quite cordial like and syrupy, rather than fresh and clean.

The end of the exhale will have you experiencing a little bit of coolness, not throat punching cool, but subtle as the menthol drifts in toward the end.

Final thoughts

This is a fair attempt at the elusive lemon lime and bitters, not quite an exact match, but I can also understand how difficult this flavour might be to capture in vape form.

This is a fantastic flavour at the beginning, you’ll really get that instant Lemon, Lime and Bitters feel, unfortunately that quickly subsides after a little while of vaping, and as your tastebuds become accustomed to it, it becomes more of a lemon lime blend. A candy lemon lime, that has a nice quiet sweet flavour to it. So unassuming in fact at times I forgot which flavour I was vaping.

I’m not noticing the menthol a lot either. Perhaps a little more on a tank, but through a single coil RDA, it really isn’t there.

I’d like to see a little more “Bitters” and a little more menthol to really kick this into a realistic Lemon Lime and Bitters profile.

All in all, this is a lovely flavour to vape, you’ll be able to vape it all day without getting tired of it, and runs really well no matter which device you vape it in.

Great work guys.

Colour:

Completely Clear

Aroma:

Lime / Lemon

Coil and wick damage:

Minimal damage to wicks or coils

PG/VG Ratio:

70/30 VG/PG

Texture:

Sweet, cool, beverage

Steeping:

I don’t think this one needs a steep, it’s pretty good straight away.

Presentation:

As always, Butler’s Choice have some pretty professional packaging. I received 60ml Chubby Gorilla styled clear bottles with black child-proof, crack seal lid. These bottles have needle tip dispensers, and are made from a harder plastic, so a little more difficult to squeeze.

The labels are the same as the flavours that I reviewed a while ago, black with a patterned background, with little tiny icons floating around that match the flavour. The usual information is available on the label, logo, juice name in flavour oriented colours, size, VG/PG ratio, Ingredients list, and keep out of reach of children warnings.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
