e-Liquid Review: Cherrybomb from Fat Shibe x Lex

Well, look what we have here! I’ve been eyeing this eliquid off for a long while now, actually ever since it was announced, but being vape reviewer with a pretty big queue doesn’t allow much for just squeezing things in.

So I’ve finally gotten my hands on some, it’s gotten through my queue and I’ve been vaping it all weekend!

This one is the hard work of Lex from the Vapoureyes family, a bloody great mixer, who’s been involved in many of the juices available under the Vapoureyes umbrella, many of which you might not even realise he’s had a hand in!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Cherrybomb” from Fat Shibe x Lex.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
A smattering of red cherries, tart blackcurrants, the sweetest ambrosia apples, all blended in an icy cocktail. Cherry Bomb is the culmination of a multi-year mission to make the perfect cherry-inspired vape (that doesn’t taste like cough medicine).

This juice has been Mo’s all-day, all-week, all-year vape since 2017 – and we’ve finally bottled and labelled it for the masses. Thank god.

Keep in mind that Cherry Bomb isn’t an Americanised, over-sweetened cherry lolly – this is much, much closer in taste to a blend of semi-sweet, semi-tart fruits. Cherry Bomb has been formulated such that you can vape all day, all week, all year, and it won’t tire you out or destroy your coils. There is a cooling hit present but without the menthol taste.

The Review

Cherry. I’ve got a love/hate relationship with it. I actually like real cherries, but generally won’t eat them because they’re messy, and there’s pips and …. well, I’m just a fussy eater.

Candy cherries, I abhor. They’ve always got that real mean medicinal flavour to them, they’re sweet and syrupy, but that starchy, chemical note really just keeps me away.

That’s why this blend got my attention! Vapoureyes advise that this “isn’t” an Americanized, oversweet cherry candy, it is more semi-sweet, semi-tart.

Let’s take a look.

Take away that medicinal note from a cherry candy, blend in some freaking awesome blackcurrant and sweet juicy apple, and you’ve got yourself a winner!

Individual Notes

The cherry in this flavour, is exactly how it’s described, a little fresh, a little candy, but definitely void of any strong medicinal notes. There is a light undertone of the medicinal cherry candy, but only very light, and is an important addition. Instead of a barrage of bitter candy cherry, you get a light touch of it, which is then very nicely complimented by the other fruits.

Blackcurrant also flows through this flavour, mainly as a background note. It’s punchy sweetness provides a huge boost in flavour, and it blends surprisingly well with the cherry.

The next fruit that is in this mix, is Apple. This addition is fantastic and really adds some contrast against the cherry and blackcurrant. It’s tannin like sweetness isn’t acidic like other apples, and it’s also not quite so crisp. This apple offers a wonderful sweet, and volumous texture to this.

There is some chill here too. No bitter menthol, instead WS23 will give you a bit of a kick, and a refreshing chill at the back of the throat finishing off the vape.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, Sweet Blackcurrant and Apple appear first, of course getting more intense as you inhale further. At this point it’s a really nice balance, and in all honesty, could have been left at that. And that’s a pretty good pointer as to how this flavour will go, when the supporting flavours are so good already.

As the inhale continues and the intensity increases, I notice light candy cherry notes wash over the blackcurrant and contrast with the apple. The candy is slightly medicinal, but it stops short of becoming only that. A fragrant cherry flesh appears among this all the while the cooling sweeps in and hit’s it’s high point at the top of the inhale.

As you exhale, that contrast between the cherry and the apple makes itself known, as the apple really comes into it’s own. It’s apple without the bite, just smooth and syrupy apple flesh taking hold, and running through the exhale. The light background blackcurrant follows behind it as the candy cherry freshens and blends into the sweeter apple syrup textures.

You’re then left with quite a cool mouth and a hankering for more of that cherry apple!

Final thoughts

This is a well made blend. Really it is. Everything works so very well together, with the 3 fruits mixing phenomenally from the get go, right through to the apple running through the exhale as though it’s purposely stolen the limelight away from the blackcurrant.

The intentional light medicinal notes of the candy cherry make a fantastic contrast against the sweeter fruits, it’s there, but only to a level to compliment, which is just perfect. The flavour level is spot on, making this a juice that you can vape all day without getting tired of it. It’s very much “all day vape” worthy.

The lovely texture of the apple here, against the sweeter blackcurrant and slightly bitter cherry, reminds me of biting right into a toffee apple and getting the full hit of that sweet apple flesh contrasting against the toffee.

Great work on the flavour combination as well as the texture guys! Very well done. Delicious!

I love the retro cartoony graphics on this one. I received a 60ml tinted genuine chubby gorilla bottle with child-proof and tamper proof cap, and needle tip dispenser.

The label is gloss white with punchy graphics, the name of the juice is front and centre, with graphics representing the juice really well.

Everything else is on the label as you would expect. Warnings, ingredients, various icons, as well as manufacturing details.

You have to love Vapoureyes’ humour, while you’re taking a look at the label of this one, you’ll see that they’ve had a bit of fun with the bar code on the back, take a look at the website listed on the label too, way too cute!
