eLiquid Review: Chai Latte by Sydney Vape Co

I’m getting down to the last few flavours from Sydney Vape Co’s new eliquid range, and boy have I got something for you today.

A lot of you have probably been looking forward to this one, Chai Latte’s are quite popular nowadays, and everyone wants to know what it’s like in vape form! Without further ado…

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Chai Latte” from Sydney Vape Co.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
“An authentic, aromatic chai massala with rich spices: cinnamon, cardamom, cloves and anise with honey-infused milk and a dash of lemon and ginger.”

The Review

We all know what a Chai Latte is right? Sure it’s that fancy tea that you get from upmarket coffee shops, you order it so that you can show the world how chic you are when you take cute pictures of it an put it up on instagram….

Well, no, that’s not what a Chai Latte is. While modern western society has adopted it as a little bit of an upper class thing to enjoy, it was born in India many years ago, and rather than Indian elites, whom more often drink expensive leaf tea, lightly steeped in hot water with no milk or sugar, it was actually the poorer working class that consume tea in this way. (Tea/Sugar/Milk)

A Chai Latte can describe many abstractions and tastes, but in short it is a black tea, and milk steeped with a masala spice blend (cinnamon/star anise/clove/ginger/vanilla/cardamom etc).

“The spices in this eliquid are phenomenal, smooth, yet complex, and work wonderfully with the tea and cream notes.”

Individual Notes

The tea is first, and to me, rather than a black tea, this comes across more as a Green tea, it has a little bit of an earthy feel, but without the usual negative grassy notes. I could be completely wrong, and probably am, but the spices chosen give this more of a green tea vibe also.

The masala mix of spices here is very well chosen. I notice star anise, cinnamon, cloves and ginger, all blended to a smooth finish, that doesn’t bite, and is not overpowering. It sits at just the right level to give the illusion that they’ve been steeped in the milk/cream.

The milk/Cream is also very well blended. Just light enough to feel like a milk, yet creamy enough to help dull down the spices with a sweet frothiness.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll get a sweetened milk with green tea initially. It’s quite a solitary flavour, light earthy green tea, with a dash of milk or cream and some sugar for sweetness. It’s a little on the thin side, which is not a bad thing because this is the build up to the full complex nature of this Chai Latte.

At the top of the inhale, the spices begin to show. Somehow Sydney Vape Co have managed to blend this so that the spices really do feel like they are coming from being steeped in the milk, smooth and strong, yet mild enough to not overpower the sweet milk. At first I notice the star anise, clove and sharper spices, which are then joined by ginger, and cinnamon through the exhale creating quite a complex and flavoursome combination!

As I move through the exhale, everything intensifies, not independently, but quite naturally along with the sweetened creamy milk, leaving me with a really well rounded spiced tea and milk that does not disappoint.

Final thoughts

I’ll be honest, I was really worried about this. It’s not an easy flavour to make work, but Sydney Vape Co have done a wonderful job with it.

From the tea, to the spices, right through to the sweetened milk, they’ve hit the nail on the head with this one. This is a complex flavour, with a very small margin for error, and it’s worked out wonderfully.

Obviously a Chai Latte, is not for everyone. It is quite an exotic blend of flavours, but for those who do love masala spices, you’ll really enjoy this.

I’m actually struggling to find fault with it, and the only thing I have, is that I’d like the cream/milk to be a little thicker. It is a little on the thin side, and thickening that up would turn this into quite the full vape, with a lot of texture.

Other than that, fantastic work guys, very well done.

Presentation:

As always, Sydney Vape Co, have some impressive presentation. Each bottle comes in it’s own similarly branded box. I received 30ml clear Chubby Gorilla style bottles with black child-proof caps, tamper proof ring-seal, and needle tip dispenser.

The labelling is comprehensive with juice name, respective imagery and company logo front and centre. General warnings, ingredients, bottle size, and even flavour profile are printed on the colour coded matt finish labels.

Most impressive of all is the use of “Born on” and “Batch Number” stamps. This is a great addition to any label, and builds confidence, letting the consumer know how old their bottle of juice really is.

If you haven’t seen them yet, SVC also have some fancy pants sample boxes available, so that you can try all of their flavours in smaller bottles, the whole set is only $59.99 which is some pretty great value!
