e-Liquid Review: Cap’n Apples from Solomons Clouds

Welcome back, and in perfect timing, for the last business day of the week, I’m also bringing you the final Solomon’s Clouds flavour up for review.

I’ve been pretty impressed by this range, all of the flavours in this range have been well thought out, well blended, and packed with tasty goodness. It really is a well rounded range with a profile to suit everyone.

If you’re looking for a new juice brand to try, I highly recommend Solomon’s Clouds, for some top notch flavours.

Today’s review is of “Cap’n Apples” from Solomons Clouds.

(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Freshly baked warm apple pie, with lashings of vanilla custard. Crack open the bottle and you’re whisked back to grandmas kitchen, the enticing aroma of a freshly baked pie sitting on the bench cooling down fills your nostrils. You wont have to wait for this one to cool down though, dig in!

The Review

The humble ol’ Apple Pie. Warm stewed and spiced apples, wrapped in a crumbly baked dough with sugar sprinkled over the top. A lovely dessert for a cold winter, with Cinnamon spice creating a richness of flavour, defrosting your insides and making sure you end up in that food coma after dinner’s dessert.

Apple Pie is a pretty big dessert to tackle in not only flavour but texture, and Solomon’s Clouds have done a very decent job of capturing that famous profile.

“Cap’n Apples” is a thick and robust blend of warm stewed cinnamon spiced apples, on a bed of cheesecake like pastry, crumbly and doughy, washed over with sugary sweetness.

Individual Notes

The apple in this Apple Pie is probably not quite as pronounced as you may expect. It’s a warm stewed apple, and with that, you can’t really expect the Apple to bite at you, and provide a crunchy apple flesh at all. This is more a softer sweeter apple that melts in your mouth than the kind that kicks you in teeth with acidity.

You’ll notice some cinnamon spice in here too. It’s not overbearing but definitely one of the more dominant notes. It blends nicely with the pastry, as well as gives the apple a more stewed feel. While this blend is exactly what an apple pie is made of, I can’t help that notice that it takes on a slightly floral or dry feel to it.

The pastry in this flavour is a dry, very cheesecake base like pastry, it’s thick and crumbly, with a distinct baked feel. There is a sweet backdrop to it, and it works really well with the warmer stewed apple.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, you’ll instantly notice the cinnamon. It’s a warmer cinnamon which hits you straight away, as the apple notes begin to appear. These apple notes with the aforementioned cinnamon, come across as more of a Red Apple flesh, warmer, and stewed with a softer profile. Both the apple and cinnamon intensify as the inhale continues, until you hit a peak.

At the top of the inhale, is where you’ll likely see the greatest intensity to the apple, it gets to it’s strongest point pushing through the cinnamon, while not overcoming it, creating a complex base.

As you exhale, the pastry begins to come through, softly at first and seemingly cheesecake, but as you continue, it takes on a slightly sweeter and doughier feel. Not quite a donut, and not quite a cheesecake, this pastry gently envelopes the apple and cinnamon, pulling all three flavours together in to quite a comfortably warm blend. It’s this specific blend that gives off that distinct Apple Pie flavour which continues right to the end of the vape where you’ll notice a much dougher and sweeter finish.

Final thoughts

This is a great Apple Pie! All bases are covered, the apple, cinnamon and pastry work really well together.

The only thing that I really could pick on with this one, was the apple and cinnamon mix. For some reason it comes across as forced, with a little floral feel, or perhaps that is dryness. I would have liked to see a little more moisture to this part, more of an apple sauce and cinnamon, rather than what comes across as a slightly dry apple texture.

Other than that, and despite that, it’s quite an enjoyable flavour that I think hits the spot and dessert lovers will love.

If you’re looking for a great apple pie flavour, this one is must try.

Well done guys!

Presentation:

The whole Solomon’s Clouds range has a very professional presentation. I received 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottles, with tamper proof seals and child proof caps. The bottles are dark tinted with black caps and needle tip dispensers.

On the label you have Solomon’ s Clouds and the flavour name prominently displayed front and centre, with matching colour band, and a bunch of other information. PG/VG ratio, bottle size, flavour profile, Lab information, website url, Ingredients and barcode. I noticed that there are no warnings at all on the label besides “This product contains zero nicotine”.

What is on the label, which I really love, is a scale that shows how much juice you have left in the bottle up to one of the inside edges where the label doesn’t quite meet together. A popular spot to hold your bottle up to the light to see how much is left is made that much more useful with a scale that goes through “Refill”, 1/4, “Half”, 3/4, and “Full” stages.
A very cool idea!
