Flavour Description

Blackcurrant Soda

Packed full of Blackcurrant, with a slight fizz…….. WILL HAVE YOU BUZZING!

The Review

This one is touted as a flavour packed blackcurrant, and we all love blackcurrant right?! Blackcurrant is a fantastic flavour to vape, but, many of you might not realise that it’s actually quite difficult to mix with. It can get overpowering very quickly, and if you’re not careful, can end up soapy.

Hoots have done a great job with this one. Completely avoiding any overpowered Blackcurrant, the end result being quite a sweet and fruity blend that has lower blackcurrant notes as well as a lighter, slightly syrupy nuance from another unknown fruit. There’s a light fizz here, which provides a soft drink or soda feel, bubbly and sweet, that helps bring everything together.

Individual Notes

The blackcurrant is pretty light. I’ll be honest and say that I expected it to be a little stronger, but it is a little wavering and at times, not really identifiable once your sense of taste gets used to the profile. It’s a sweet yet rounded flavour, juicy in nature, more of a natural blackcurrant than a candy.

There is another fruit here too, it’s a great complimentary flavour introducing a lighter, more syrupy note, and really really difficult to pick. On one hand it feels like it’s a Passionfruit, and on the other a Peach or some type of stone-fruit like Nectarine.

I say Passionfruit because it has a sweet yet tropical feel, almost a pineapple, but with a fuller profile. It doesn’t have the usual bitterness that Passionfruit brings however, so I’m reluctant to say that’s it.

There is a definite syrup like nature to it, fleshy and juicy, with a robust fullness to it, that really sits in stone-fruit territory. I’m also noticing a fuzziness to the flavour, a lower note that while fleshy, also contains a skin feel.

Whichever of these that it is, it works wonderfully, and so delicately blended that it compliments without ever over-drawing attention to itself.

There is also a fizziness to this one, probably a little lemonade, or champagne concentrate,  something light that adds just the smallest amount of texture to it to give that bubbly soda effect.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is blackcurrant, there’s no doubt about it. It’s a sweet unmistakeable blackcurrant, fresh and fruity, a very natural flavour, definitely not a candy. It starts off very sweet and light, building up a little as the inhale continues.

At the end of the inhale and beginning of the exhale you’ll notice a syrupy fruit flavour enter the fray. It’s a juicy, fleshy, fruit, a little Passionfruit, a little Peachy, with very much a tropical fruit juice feel to it. I can only speculate as to what it is, but it brings a brightness to the mix, a tropical fruitiness that warms the vape, adding a little more complexity.

You’ll notice the fizziness on the exhale too, it’s a little lemonade like, and a lovely texture that reinforces that this is a soda based flavour.

Final thoughts

I’ve really enjoyed this one, I really only have one problem with it. Unfortunately its a positive and a negative all at the same time.

The blackcurrant, I really wanted this to be stronger. More of a main flavour. With the addition of the other fruits, it feels like the blackcurrant has become a secondary flavour in the mix. The problem with this is that the other fruits are also secondary flavours. There just doesn’t seem to be a dominating note.

On the one hand it’s definitely not over-bearing, you can vape this one all day, it’s a sweet fruity mix, with pleasant tones and no nasty nuances.

On the other, it’s light, the fruits are not really distinguishable, it lacks that punch that I expected.

If you’ve got sensitive taste-buds this one is absolutely for you, you’ll appreciate the lighter tones, and delicateness of the mix. If you’re looking for a massive flavour hit however, you won’t get it with this one.

All in all, I’ve really enjoyed this one, it was an easy flavour to vape with no harsh tones, and a sweet and fruity profile.
