eLiquid Review 516: Berry Jam Danish by Frank & Atticus
I’m onto another dessert profile today (this range has plenty of desserts), this time, I’m going back to a more traditional pastry dessert from our friends at Frank & Atticus.
They’re a pretty new juice company that launched in 2018, with a 6 flavour line-up with a dominant dessert vibe. These guys don’t just knock up a quick straight forward flavour though, every one of these profiles is a little left field, which Frank & Atticus are very proud to be known for.
Today, I’ll be reviewing “Berry Jam Danish” from Frank & Atticus.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor for review.)

The Review
I just love it when a flavour turns out to be exactly as you expect. It’s even better when it not only meets your expectations but is really tasty too!
Individual Notes
Blueberry and Raspberry are the fruit notes in this flavour. More syrupy or jammy and preserve like than fresh fruits, they sweeten the mix, also providing this flavour with it’s wonderful mid range and punch through the pastry back notes to create more depth. Both working together the blueberry with its nice low tones and the sweet raspberry providing the taller of the berries, take advantage of the breadth of flavour each provides.
The pastry here is spot on, as soon as you take a whiff, you can just tell that this is a danish, there just isn’t another pastry that has that same sweet combination of scent, flavour and texture that a danish provides. You’ll also notice a bit of an almond note in here when you take a deep longer pull, it’s toasted, so a little smokey as well.
In between the fruits and pastry, there are a few other flavours, although you may not notice them so much, I know I didn’t and that’s the way it is supposed to be, a subtle bit of this and a subtle bit of that. It’s a very creamy, sort of bakery blend, not quite a cream and not quite a bakery, but somewhere in between. I guess this is where the cream cheese comes in, it just doesn’t seem like cream cheese to me.
Inhale & Exhale
On the inhale, the fruits win in dominance, the blueberry’s strength in the lower notes and the raspberry in the taller sweeter flavour blend perfectly, to create a sweet, syrupy and jammy profile. These intensify as the inhale continues, all the while being introduced to a little of the sweet danish pastry once you hit the peak of the inhale.
At this point the jammy berries peek through the pastry, showing you multiple planes of flavour, with the pastry taking up the background, thicker and denser profile, leaving the berries to punch through it, with their slight tartness, and stewed fruit feel.
On the exhale, the flavours stay even and true to their peak, all the while intensifying a little pronouncing the pastry even more, and emphasising this as a sweet, flakey dessert. It’s at this point you’ll notice the almond, toasted, or roasted, a little smokey but perfectly chosen to back up the pastry, adding even more intrigue and complexity to the entire profile.
Final thoughts
This is a very smooth dessert, well blended, with some fantastic little additions that really make the flavour. I really like the almond on the exhale, creating a slightly smokey feel, as it works really well with the pastry, further enforcing that the pastry is a sweeter dessert, and not a doughy baked good.
Would I change anything? I don’t think so. The levels of flavour are perfectly balanced and this not only tastes but smells just like the real thing.
Guys, you’ve done a fantastic job with this one, well done!
