e-Juice Review: The Duck’s Nuts from Bogan Brews

Alright! I’m back, and I’ve been vaping this next flavour up for review ALL weekend 🙂

If you’re not familiar (of course you are!) The Vaping Bogan, released his very own range of eliquids quite a while ago. He originally went live with 3 tasty flavours, while another 3 were added a little further down the track.

Today I’ll be reviewing “The Duck’s Nuts” from Bogan Brews.

The Ducks Nuts: to be the highest quality in a certain category of items; “This show is The Duck’s Nuts!”

And it really is! The Duck’s Nuts is a cherry jam filled doughnut, bursting with sweetness and topped off with savoury doughnut fresh baked from the oven.

If you’re a fan of Red vs Blue (just like the Bogan), you’ll absolutely love this. Paired well with a classic, low smokiness Stout!

The Review

I honestly have not even read the description of this flavour until now. And while vaping it over the weekend, through that sweet dough, I wondered what the fruit was that was used in this, as it isn’t as sweet as the usual ‘Raspberry’, and definitely not as tart as a ‘Strawberry’. Imagine my surprise to find out it’s Cherry!

Individual Notes

While the cherry is quite a light component of this mix, it definitely compliments the rest, with it’s almost sweet, yet syrupy texture breaking up the dough really well and providing a more dimension.
This is not your candy cherry, well not quite, I notice a slight similarity but it’s definitely NOT your medicinal tasting cherry hard candy. In this it’s a little more realistic, but not quite reaching that real cherry fruitiness.

The dough in here is fantastic, it’s the perfect match for a slightly sweetened baked doughnut mix, I notice a touch of cinnamon in here, as well as a slight graham cracker note, but mostly it’s all baked doughnut.
Thick, volumous, and packed full of that typical baked goods texture, it’s full of flavour and that’s exactly what we want!

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, first I notice the sweet syrupy cherry, it really is quite sweet from the get-go, as it builds in intensity, a little jelly candy, but also a little jammy. It punches through the inhale, with a nice thickened but juicy texture, instantly getting the tastebuds kicking.

At the top of the inhale is of course the most intense, and where you’ll likely get the most kick. The syrupy sweet cherry hits it’s height here, warming up with a distinct sugary sweetness coming from the cinnamon. This is the turning point though, and the cherry can’t last by itself forever.

As that sweetness evens out, the doughy base gets stronger through the exhale continually getting more intense as the exhale continues, to a point where you can really recognise the doughnut. Not as full on as some other doughnut based flavours, but at a really nice level.

This continues on through the exhale, with the cherry staying on point, never really going away, instead biting into the doughnut to create a very dynamic and tasty combination. The bakery notes are at their strongest point here, and help bolster this profile right up until the very end of the vape. A truly deep flavour.

Final thoughts

I’m not usually a doughnut vaper, but this is such a tasty blend, I’ve nearly finished the bottle already. It strikes a balance between the doughnut and cherry really well, leaving me with absolutely no complaints on the blending, and general mix. The flavour intensity is quite nice, it gives quite a punch of flavour without going overboard, which is a big tick on the longevity of this flavour.

The cherry is fantastic, and is a really clever addition here, it has just the right amount of syrup texture to hold up against the doughnut, and punch through it helping to ceate that really full-developed rich profile.

This hasn’t really done anything to wicks or coils. My wicks have darkened to a honey tint, but that really is the colour of the juice doing that. Disclaimer: I have been changing wicks everyday as I usually do.
This is sweet, sugary sweet, so I’d expect a little gunking after a few days of vaping this one.

A short steep might be a good idea with this one.

Presentation:

The bogan has such a unique brand, it’s raw, but polished, with imagery akin to punk rock and a tattoo scene. It’s bold with striking black and white, and brighter in your face colours when he decides to use them.

I received clear 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottles with transluscent caps, child-proof and tamper-proof seals, you can’t get better.

The new labels for the Bogan Brews line, reflect his branding well, with a Pearl background, and black overprint, in scratchy imagery, and close yet well structured spacing between elements. Front and centre, you’ll see the Bogan Brews brand along with the flavour name, with black and white icons of the fruits/flavours that make up the mix.

On the back you get all the information you need. From bottle size, warnings, ingredients, barcode, poison hotline numbers, and best before date, right through to the “Product of New Zealand” line.

Pretty. Bloody. Awesome!
