eJuice Review 342: Strawberry Rose (The Rose) by GDR Vape

This juice line is beginning to get interesting, I’m seeing a common theme happening here, and it’s not just the over indulgent use of sweetener. Despite what I might think of the huge amounts of sweetener and cooling agent used in these liquids, I do have to admit that they are quite accurate on the flavours that they are trying to mimick.

The first flavour that I tried, may not have been my cup of tea, but yesterday’s juice “Lemon Lime” and today’s “Strawberry Rose” are eerily close matches for their respective flavours.

Today I’ll be reviewing “Strawberry Rose” from “The Fifth/The Rose” range by GDR Vape.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor)

The Review:

Ever since I sneaked a little bit of a taste of this flavour early on, I’ve been quietly looking forward to this one. I hoped that it vaped as well as it tasted, and the profile didn’t change at all, and boy was I not let down!

“Strawberry Rose” is a really nice Rose candy, or Strawberry heart candy flavour, just like the sweets we all ate as kids.

Individual Notes

There really isn’t any other notes besides the unique Strawberry Rose and hard candy flavours here. It’s a solitary flavour that simply just works really well by itself. Not a complex mix, but really tasty all the same.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, I mostly get the Rose candy flavour instantly coming through. It’s sweet, with an artificially sweetened strawberry, and an almost toffee candy flavour there giving the strawberry a little bit more substance and texture.

On the exhale, the strawberry rose candy flavour intensifies, with the sweeteners now kicking in really excentuating the boiled or hard candy feel, and putting a little bit of a tang on the tongue. About halfway through the exhale, the cooling agent kicks in adding a chill to the vape, and driving things home with a really cold chilly finish.

Final thoughts

There’s not a lot that I can write for this review, as it’s quite a one dimensional flavour, there are no extra layers, supporting flavours or nuances to describe. But what a flavour it is. It really is right on the mark when it comes to mimicking its primary flavour!

As with all of the GDR Vape flavours, I would have liked this to have a lot less sweetener, I think they could have gotten away with it, considering that it is an already sweet flavour. Ditto on the cooling agent, dialed back a little would have been more tolerable.

Something I haven’t mentioned a lot in these reviews, is the food coloring added to these juices. In particular, this one obviously has added coloring, which I’d also prefer that it didn’t have. A gimmick for the sake of looking cool, it’s not needed, and only adds an unnecessary extra ingredient that could have been left out.

All in all, quite a nice flavour, just keep your wicks fresh and vape on!

Where to Buy:

GDR vape have their own website, I won’t link you to it though, as I have some real concerns about this range, and my moral compass tells me to not make it easy for people to purchase.

Colour:

Dark Pink/Purple (Yes this ejuice uses food coloring)

Aroma:

Strawberry candy

Coil and wick damage:

This will undoubtedly destroy your wicks and gunk your coils within hours. This one is not quite as bad as the previous two flavours, but will still do a good job of your wicks and coils.

PG/VG Ratio:

This is supposed to be 70%vg/30%pg but instead has the viscosity of water. Something isn’t right here!

Texture:

Hard Candy

Steeping:

You could, but I doubt it would improve this flavour at all.

Presentation:

Fantastic presentation. This is actually one thing they have gotten right with this liquid. I received 60ml chubby gorilla bottles with childproof caps. The labels are colourful, with all of the information you might need except for the pg/vg ratio. (although that is a pretty big thing to miss!)

Caveat Emptor: These eliquids all contain food coloring also.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.18 AK coil from “Bombers Coils” on a mech mod.
I haven’t tested in anything else, as changing wicks in this 4 times per day is enough mucking about for me.
