eJuice Review 419: Reload – Butter Menthol by Anthill Vapour

I’m back again and onto the second flavour from Anthill Vapours new range “Reload”. This impressive line-up of flavours has me chomping at the bit to get stuck into each and every one of them, but this one in particular, I had to try straight away.

I did have it planned so that I could tackle this review early next week after a few others, but I just couldn’t help myself and caved to those smooth sweet buttery smells coming from the bottle, and once I’d taste tested it on my finger…. Well, there just was no holding back at that point ….

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Butter Menthol” from Anthill Vapour’s new juice range “Reload”.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

Soothing butter menthol, nothing more needs to be said. A distinct classic flavour all Australians have come to know and love.

The Review:

This one will bring back Aussie childhood memories with it’s familiar flavour! These throat lozenges were issued by mum as soon as you complained about a sore throat, you’d be told to suck them for a while, but if you’re anything like me, you’d be crunching down on them within minutes. A sore throat always meant a midnight sneak through the kitchen cupboards looking for that elusive box of tasty tasty treats only to go back to bed shortly after, disappointed and empty handed.

This is such a unique flavour, and I don’t think “Butter Menthols” are available anywhere else but Australia.

Perfectly mimicking the real thing, “Butter Menthol” by Anthill Vapour is a spot on replica of everyone’s favourite cough lolly, with it’s buttery undertones to soothe the throat, and mentholated chill that helped clear the nose, this juice won’t last long once you tuck into it, so make sure you grab yourself a big bottle!

Individual Notes:

I’ve never really analysed Butter Menthols before, and I have to admit, I was a little confused and thrown when I sat down to pull the flavour apart. It’s one of those that blends so well, with every flavour combined it kind of creates it’s own unique profile, not just a note of this here and a note of that there.

It also has such a history with so many people, if you were to ask someone on the street what it tastes like, you’d get a simple answer… It tastes like butter menthols!

The smooth creamy buttery notes come across to me as butter and butterscotch, perhaps a little toffee. There is a slight oiliness there that can only be from butter flavouring, and a deep sweetness that can only be a caramel or a butterscotch. The butterscotch is actually less prevalent than the butter, if you can believe it, but that’s what it is and it works!

Next I’m going out on a limb and going to say that I get a little bit of vanilla custard here. It may well not even be in the mix, but there is something about those smooth sweet lower notes that remind me of a clean vanilla custard. I little light spice and a creaminess that you simply can’t get from any other flavour. This custard doesn’t seem to begin and end at any particular point, it is present throughout the vape.

This next part is where all of the magic happens. The menthol, or cooling sensation I believe to be a mix of menthol, eucalyptus and cooling agent. I can taste the menthol, there is the usual bitter metallic-ness there, not in your face of course, but it’s there with that unmistakable eucalyptus creating a more robust and full minty experience.

Inhale & Exhale:

The inhale is low down sweet and smooth butterscotch and toffee with a buttery texture that helps give this its distinct flavour. As you get further into the inhale, the cooling agent kicks in, providing that splash of chill. Timed perfectly with the butterscotch and butter coming together it creates an almost explosion of flavour, that same sensation you’d get from crunching down on the real thing!

Onto the exhale, the butterscotch blend and menthol mix continue to play against each other creating a kind of taffy/toffee feel. As the menthol bites down with a little bitterness, almost it’s own crescendo and you begin to wonder where that heavy butterscotch and custard blend went, it bears down on you, warming the vape somewhat with a full flavoured butterscotch candy exhale and eucalyptus highlights.

Final thoughts:

This is a magnificent flavour. I was honestly taken aback with how much of an impact it had on me when I first tried it. This is an expertly mixed blend that really does taste just like it should.

I have noticed that it takes some wattage to get the full flavour out of this. Not crazy cloud bro wattages, but at least a nice wet wick and 30 watts for all of the notes to really shine and give you the full depth of flavour.

So drench those coils and take a great big pull, you’re in for a treat.

Love your work guys!

Where to Buy:

You can buy all of the “Reload” range as well as Anthill’s other offerings directly through the Anthill Vapour website , or purchase from one of the many online and physical stores stocking them.

Color:

Almost clear

Aroma:

Sweet butter and menthol

Coil and wick damage:

No coil or wick damage, this is a pretty clean juice

VG/PG Ratio:

60%VG / 40%PG

Texture:

Thick creamy with a buttery mouth feel, cold blast of menthol

Steeping:

I think this one might benefit from a little bit of a steep. I wouldn’t leave it too long though, someone else may vape it!

Presentation:

Such cool presentation this range has. All 60ml bottles came in Chubby Gorilla type clear plastic bottles with childproof cap and needle tip nozzle. The labels are the definition of simple, with the range name written boldly down the side “RELOAD”, and the juice name under it. All on a perfectly clear label mind you so that you can see the liquid level underneath. The subtle shadow of the Juice line name, is coloured according to the flavour, which is a nice little touch.
Everything else you might need is on the labels, bottle size, VG/PG Ratio, Ingredients, Warnings, Storage instructions, where it’s bottled, even the “dispose of in the bin” image is present!

Every juice comes in it’s own flavour branded coloured cardboard box with all of the same information that is on the bottles also. (Note: there are not many companies here in Australia that do this!)

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 ET coil from “Bombers Coils” on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
