e-Juice Review: Raspberry Slush from Priority Blend’s “Chilled” Range

e-Juice Review: Raspberry Slush from Priority Blend’s “Chilled” Range

Welcome back to another week of reviews!

I’m getting back into some e-liquid reviews this week, and to start things off with a bang, I’ve got a range that many of you will be familiar with already!

Priority Blends have been around for what seems like ages, since 2016 in fact. They’re a staple in the South Australian and now Victorian vape scenes, with some pretty awesome flavours on hand, and and many more in the future I’m sure.

Dave from Priority Blends created this brand, after he started mucking about with mixing his own e-liquids. Quickly getting hooked on creating fabulous flavours, until a mate inevitably suggested he put a name and a label to them, and the rest is history.

The flavours that I’ll be reviewing are from Priority’s latest “Chilled” range of ice cold fruitiness, they’ve had some pretty great feedback so far, let’s see how they go!

Today I’ll be reviewing “Raspberry Slush” from Priority Blend’s “Chilled” range of e-liquids.

(This eliquid was supplied by Priority Blends for review. )

Flavour Description

[From the website]
Raspberry Slush.. sweet sweet raspberries with a icy cold chilled hit.

The Review

Expectations versus reality strikes again! “Raspberry Slush” brings a particular flavour profile to mind, usually a sweet, candy raspberry, with a fizzy texture and an ice cold consistency.

I got the “ice cold” bit right! This flavour is far from what I had expected but truly a pleasant surprise, and continues to be with every vape!

This super cold flavour is packed with a lovely dynamic raspberry, and an unexpected creamy background!

Individual Notes

The raspberry in this was a little different that I’d expected. Not a simple candy raspberry, this one has an undertone of raspberry jam or preserve, more complex than you’d expect, with a little bit of richness.
It still is candy sweet, that’s not all there is to it though!

Coming through the background is some vanilla and cream, it’s quite a thickened profile, like a thickened sweet cream, very similar to a vanilla ice cream note. Light and sweet, and with the cooling that has been added it really does get that ice-cream feel.

There is a fair dose of cooling agent here. Warning: Do not, I repeat, do not throw this into a high wattage device and do a full lung inhale at anything above 80 watts. I found that out the hard way.
This is not your usual amount of cooling agent, Priority Blends have pretty much matched Malaysian e-liquids, this really is ‘Ice cold’.

Inhale & Exhale

On the inhale, the raspberry instantly kicks in, it’s a little candy at first, light and sweet, but as you inhale, it intensifies and gets more complex.
Sweet candy raspberry soon turns rich and a little more realistic as some jammy notes appear strengthening and flipping the profile to more of a raspberry syrup and a slushie. At the same time, I notice a smooth vanilla begin to work it’s way in, thickening things up as it goes while a mild chill hovers in the background.

At the top of the inhale the raspberry already richened by the jam profile, seems to have a bit of tartness thrown in, almost as if some strawberry ripe has been added, creating even more dimension and really turning things into more of a dessert than a frozen beverage.

As I exhale, that vanilla note gets even thicker and creamier turning into more of a vanilla ice cream profile. It’s not heavy, but carries a more complex feel than vanilla alone. As the vanilla ice cream gets stronger, the raspberry jam seems to blend with it turning the profile into a lovely ice cream with raspberry syrup, with a full on blast of cooling agent.

Definitely a dessert, a very very cold dessert!

Final thoughts

This is a cracking juice! Nice complex and rich raspberries, smoothed over with a lovely vanilla ice cream, and an ice cold exhale.

You might be as surprised by this as I was, but it’s worth it because the richer raspberries really do carry some dimension, it’s a very tasty flavour.

I’m still a little confused by the name, since this really isn’t a slushie flavour, if anything it might be an ‘ice cream spider’ but you can’t argue with the taste buds I guess, and this is one tasty juice, so great work guys. Well done!

Presentation:

The Priority Blends “Chilled” range has some pretty cool presentation. I received 60ml tinted Chubby Gorilla bottles with child-proof and tamper-proof caps and needle tip dispenser. What’s a little unusual, however is how much juice is in the bottle. Priority fill their 60ml bottles with 50ml of eliquid! This, I’m assuming is to give some room in the top of the bottle for users to add their nicotine. Very clever!

The labels are pretty simple, black gloss labels with colour cartoony graphics, the brand and flavour front and centre, along with the PB logo and “CHILLED” in big bold lettering. Other information that can be found on the labels are: Eliquid size=50ml, warnings, ingredients, VG/PG ratio, 0mg nicotine declaration, barcode and Priority Blends social media and website information.

Test rigs:

Original Haku Cruiser running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod/variable wattage mod.
Augvape Intake RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
