eJuice Review 370: Grape Slushie by Redback Vapery

I’ve caved for this one, I originally was going to stretch things out and leave this one until very last, but the curiosity has gotten the better of me!

This flavour smells amazing, and I just had to get stuck into it!

Today, I’ll be reviewing “Grape Slushie” by Redback Vapery.
(This eliquid was supplied by the vendor.)

Flavour Description

A deliciously cool blend of grape and blackcurrant which bursts with flavour, with a sidenote of cooling menthol to deliver a subtle punch and accentuate the flavour

The Review:

This one has quite a kick to it, very different to most grapes, “Grape Slushie” borders on a sweet grape juice, and a grape bubblegum with almost sour, tart Blackcurrant highlights and a chilled cooling agent adding an even deeper feel to the flavour.

Individual Notes

I obviously notice the grape most of all, it has a half natural, half juice type of feel to it. Picture eating fresh ripe green grapes, and concentrate on the flavour of the flesh as you pierce the skin, that gelatinous mouth feel and that earthy but sweet grape note. Now drink some grape juice. Both of those combined, make up the grape in this flavour.

The blackcurrant is also very similar, it’s a blackcurrant flesh, not quite as strong and exposed as the grape, but it is still there.

This very much is a grape and blackcurrant juice.

Inhale & Exhale

The inhale is immediate grape with a light Blackcurrant undertone, the grape while the dominant flavour is complimented by the rich berry notes filling the gaps. The cooling sensation kicks in quite a lot here, and is at it’s peak, this is definitely a cooling agent rather than menthol feeling it on the inhale.

The exhale is still prominent grape and Blackcurrant, however, here the grape begins falling behind as the Blackcurrant intensifies, then toward the end of the exhale I get a sugar sweet rush as the final chill when the cooling agent kicks in.

Final thoughts

There is a lot going on with this juice and it’s not all just about the flavour. I’ve noticed that this seems to be a really different type of vape, not smooth and cloudy like most, it seems to be more in your face, flavoursome, and either of a thinner consistency or one of the flavours used has a slightly less vape friendly quality about it. I’m not really sure how to put it.

I’ve also noticed that rather than gunking coils right away, this juice will tend to almost congeal in the wicks, still very vapeable, but adding a distinct unpleasantness to the vape. I suspect sweetener, but a different type than is usually used.

Despite those aspects however, it is a very tasty juice that will blow you away with flavour, and chill you to the bone with it’s cooling sensation!

If you’re into grapes, this is a must try!

Colour:

Light honey tint

Aroma:

Grape Juice

Coil and wick damage:

A little darkening of wicks and gunking of coils but not too bad. I’ve been dry burning and changing wicks once per day.

PG/VG Ratio:

70%VG / 30%PG

Texture:

Sweet and juicy

Steeping:

This one is great straight away.

Presentation:

Quite nice presentation here. I received 30ml stubby chubby gorilla bottles with childproof caps, and needle tip nozzles. Some of the bottles are clear, others are smokey grey clear with the Redback Vapery label firmly affixed. The labels are white with splashes of colour, the liquid name, company logo, bottle size and vg/pg ratio. I would have like to see some warnings or standard ingredients list on here, the information on the labels is a little sparse.

Test rigs:

Haku with slam cap running a single 0.17 framed staple coil on a mech mod.
OBS Engine RTA with a 0.2ohm Stainless coil running @ approx 50-80 watts.
